Had to create a lighting kit that could fly across country with me, to shoot interviews for a doc. This light is great. I've got some tracing paper and a doubled Roscoe opal, and shooting through an umbrella. Beautiful light. Apurture Amaran for fill. Ice Light for hair light. Looks just as I wanted.

To start, I want to say that I have been fairly skeptical of light panels like this. Having owned a few "cheaper" ones, and even used some of the more expensive brands, I just never really was that impressed with light quality, light output, and just overall function/usability. Boom, slap to my face. I LOVE THIS LIGHT. - It is crazy bright (about 1K equivalent) - Runs of a 95w v-mount on full blast for 2+ hours. (5+ on 50% or less) - It's built like a rock! - And the light quality if absolutley gorgeous. Truly. - I've actually but using it in conjustion with a 7' Umbrella to shoot still portraits with it. (only at 85-90% power!) Yes it's expensive. But it's worth it. Check out some of my work on instagram and see for yourself: @gabekimpson

These are built really well and feel great to use. The powerpack that hangs off is convenient to access output and change batteries. I got an additional softbox from iLed and that combined with the diffusion paper that comes with the Lightstorm really produces some bright, soft, white light.

First off, I'm already exchanging this item because it burned up at a job. Pretty frustrating experience, but you know what, they put out some good light so I'm going to give it another go. The electrical cords don't have the best connections, and the power base could have been thought out a little better (it doesn't connect to a power source perfectly, and it can end up hanging around if you raise the lights high), I am assuming this is why my unit malfunctioned and just about caught fire. Why four stars? They give off great light, and they can get really bright. I tested them quite a bit at home before taking them to a gig. Sometimes I find they are best just punched up to 100% and bounced off a ceiling or wall. I really like indirect lighting, and having control over the power and color is fantastic to manipulate. They do appear to be brighter at 4200 compared to 5500, I'm not sure how the Bicolor unit shares the LEDs, but for full force brightness I don't think it's evenly distributed. If my return item manages to stay working correctly I would consider buying a few more.

I like the bicolor and dimming controls. The remote is a HUGE plus. The out put is great compared to other LED panels I have worked with. The fact that I can set up a set and take it down without having to wait ten minutes or I can adjust the light without gloves is why I bought this light. It's well built and the yoke is a nice feature.
