Good lens for micro and tele

It is what it says. If you need a good lens for birds or other animal telephoto pics and would like to have the option of closeup micro photography, too, this is the lens you need (and it's Nikon quality). Keep in mind it's a fixed 105mm and not a zoom, so you aren't able to do much with human subjects (unless you just want a face shot from a distance).

Better than expected

I bought this lens to pull me through in an effort to document and revaluate the importance of mushrooms and fungi in the mountain regions of Peru. I needed a real macro lens. The Nikon 105mm f/2.8D AF Micro works fabulously despite the tight manual focus. For the price it has been a great deal. Thanks!

Excellent, I love it!

It was accurately described as a used lens. Can't ask for more.

No complaints here

Planning to use this for product photography, and I think it'll do well. I'll just have to figure out a way to get enough light on the subject with the smaller effective apertures these macro lenses have.

great lens

I needed a lens that would allow me to fill the viewfinder when shooting small flowers. It is flawless in that regard. I believe it will be an excellent portrait lens also.

Great Macro Lense

I was lookinng for a macro lense and could not decide between the Nikon 60 mm f2.8d and 105 mm AF 2.8 fG VR. The longer length of the 105 was appealing but I did not want to pay the price of around $900. I also wanted a lense that I could used on my film camera, a Nikon FM3A. I found that this lense was available used from Adorama with a condition of E+ for a little nore than I would have paid for the 60mm f2.8 d, and substantially less than than the newer 105mm 2.8G. For fussy macro work I think that manual focus is the way to go, so autofucus hunting is not an issue for me. The lense appears to me to brand new! Mission accomplished! Thank you Adorama!
