Questions & Answers

Shopper : will this wok on d5200?Richard K : It was a tight fit ut it worked.STEPHEN J : I have a D7100 and it fits on the view finder just fine. I works well for me as I prefer to look through the viewfinder without my progressive glasses. While I find it hard to believe Nikon would use different size viewfinder windows and only provide one size of viewfinder diopter correctives, I don't have the personal experience to guarantee that. None the less, if I was lacking confirmation of a D5200 owner about fit with the viewfinder, I think it would still be worth the $$ risk to order one. I understand your financial condition may make my opinion irrelevant.MICHAEL H : Yes it will, you can always check Nikon's website for each camera and it will tell you which accessories are compatible.DAVID L : Yes!GENE B : possibly a non answer here... it fits on my 5100 and 600.ELEN J : Yes, it just slides over viewfinder.
Dave L : How about D5500?is it compatible?PETER P : I BELIEVE IT IS AS THE VIEWER SHOULD BE THE SAME. I HAVE A D7000 AND IT SLID ON LIKE A CHARM
Shopper : Is this compatible with the D5000?MARK J : Yes it is.NANCY L : I have no idea. I only used it on the D90.

I'm happy with the Nikon DK-20C +3.0 Diopter

I'm glad these supplementary viewfinder eyepieces exist, in my case a +3.0. Many Nikon cameras short those of us needing viewfinder correction on the plus side. These add-ons make viewing a pleasure without the bother of wearing eyeglasses, which bring their own set of problems when operating the camera. You should remove the viewfinder rubber surround before fitting the diopter. It can't be used with the diopter lens. I highly recommend this inexpensive product unless you're happy wearing glasses while photographing.

Very misleading

After figuring out that the protective eye piece had to be removed before installing the diopter, the view was so blurry that I had to remove it.

I matched the diopter with my reading glasses but seems to be to strong

Ordering on-line was easy. Shipment was quicker than expected. I matched the diopter with my reading glasses but seems to be to strong. The only disappointing thing is that the rubber eyepiece does not slip into the grove of the new diopter, the grove is smaller that on the original.

Useful accesory

The original diopter corrector embedded in the camera is almost in the borderline of my sight. So, by using this diopter corrector plus giving it the fine tunning with the camera one my view became a 20! However; I don't like the fact that the rubber viewfinder protector can not be used anymore! Nikon should develop the DK-20C so the rubber protection be use it on it! My 10 cents!

Great fix to my camera!!!!!!!!

I purchased an -2 diopter. My glasses were too strong and the negative 2 worked excellent I could use the D7000 diopter adjuster to dial in my correction totally awesome!!!!!!!

Absolutely great

Best thing since poloroid; just kidding, works really well for those of us who are trying to get manually focused while burdened with lousy vision but love photography, should have bought this years ago. Especially useful at longer focal legnths! Mike

A must if you need

Product as described. Critical as I don't shoot with my glasses on. Ask your eye doctor how much correction you need and get more then use the diopter adjustment. Just wish Nikon made it easy to put these on. They are NOT easy.

Works well, but... eyecup?

The diopter correction eyepiece works well with a new D750. Easy to install / remove and effective as intended. But the eyepiece is similar to some other Nikon corrective eyepieces: It does not accept eyecups (at least, any that I've found - suggestions welcomed). Can be troublesome in bright sunlight. So, just pick your situation in which to use it.

Follow order instructions

Can't rate product since I ordered the +2 thinking that was what I needed since my reading glasses are that strenght. Big miss. Not worth the hassle to return because of the price. I will get the right one, once I visit my eye doctor and she tells me what the strenght should be. No problems fitting it into my D5000, the only thing is you will have to McGyver the rubber eye protector that came with the camera, otherwise it does not fit once you put this adapter in

Helps with Near Sighted viewing

Fits directly onto the camera and allows the eye ring to be fitted onto the diopter. Allows me to use the viewfinder without my glasses. You just need to know which strength you need. I asked my optometrist.

Excellent Product!

It worked great. I was at the end of my adjustment on the camera, and now somewhere in the middle. I can finally judge focus without using glasses!

Very satisfying

I got a Nikon 7100 — the only SLR I've used since I rented a Nikon and three great lenses for a trip to the Florida Keys in about 1975. I loved shooting that holiday, but have not had an SLR in my hands five times since then. My eyes were very good until I began to age; now I'm 64 and currently trying trifocals. I use +2.5 reading glasses for computer screens, higher for books. With this little lens inserted and a quick adjustment of the camera diopter, the focus through the viewfinder snapped like it had when I was 25. It is an enormous treat — my world is never in focus like this any more. Before the DK-20C arrived, I had the in-camera diopter adjusted to work with the long focal length of my trifocals; that was okay and no doubt I'll shoot that way a lot of times again, but with that setup I had to scan around the edges of the viewfinder to establish framing — and 'right focus' was a little too much hope and too little confidence. There is plainly plenty of room for me to adjust the camera diopter as the months and years pass, so that I feel quite assured that this device will work for me (like this!) for years (or until I lose it and have to get another). The nice way the D7100 puts the shooting controls on the right under hand means that, effectively, once I have located a subject with my glasses on I can inspect it, adjust and shoot, without needing to put them back on. I'm just really happy with this and recommend it highly to someone who has aging eyesight.

No more shooting with eyeglasses on!

Best part - is just what my eyes need when not wearing glasses by letting me see more clearly through viewfinder. No fun using the viewfinder with glasses. The not so good part - came partially off when putting camera in bag, and ended up breaking one of the holding arms on the diopter. Now to order another. In fact, ordering 3 more. If you buy - buy extra. But I do highly recommend if you don't like wearing corrective eyeglasses when shooting.

works, but eyecup a problem

I have 2.5 correction glasses so this was necessary to correct the diopter. Easy to install and works, but the eyecup is difficult to re-install after the diopter is installed

Worked Great

My eyesight is corrected using monovisison where my left eye is corrected for reading and my right eye is corrected for distance vision. Since I use my left eye with my Nikon D300 viewfinder I needed more correction than the -2.0 diopter adjustment available through the camera viewfinder. The DK20C -2.0 snapped onto my eyepiece giving me a total of -4.0 diopter which was perfect for my needs. Up till now I have struggled with a fuzzy viewfinder view.

Very tight with D7000

Simple product that works as described, however it was a VERY tight fit with the rubber eyepiece that came with my D7000. I had to file the edges of the diopter for the eyepiece to slip over it. I am not accustomed to using carpentry tools on Nikon products...

I can see clearly now...(in viewfinder)

My perscription for reading is +2.25 but +1 puts the adjustment just right (for arms length). Glad I didn't buy the +2.

Near Sighted

If one is nearsighted or farsighted a diopter correction eyepiece for your Nikon is a must. They work! Intallation takes about five seconds and badda-boom it's done.

Great for people who wear eyeglasses

By Sharee

I bought this because I was tired of having to deal with looking through the viewfinder of my D300 with my glasses. I was not able to see the whole viewfinder with my glasses on, plus I was scratching up my glasses and it was uncomfortable. Now I can easily take pics without my glasses. I wish I had bought this a long time ago. This is highly recommended to anyone who wears eyeglasses. The only thing that may be a problem is the eyecup for the D300 is a tight fit over the eyepiece.

What i needed!!!

Become a master of precision with the DK-20C -2.0 Diopter, a high-quality and durable accessory designed specifically for Nikon Digital SLR cameras. This versatile and easy-to-use tool is perfect for photographers who require vision correction, offering a diopter correction of -2.0 to optimize your SLR viewfinder's sharpness in conjunction with your individual eyesight.

The DK-20C -2.0 Diopter is crafted to work seamlessly with Nikon AF and MF lenses, ensuring a perfect fit and flawless operation. Unlike standard eyepieces that come with Nikon SLR cameras, which offer no corrective value and serve only as dust protection, this accessory provides a tangible improvement to your photography experience.

The DK-20C -2.0 Diopter is identified by a minus numeric diopter value, indicating its ability to correct near-sightedness. It's an ideal solution for photographers who wear glasses or contact lenses, helping to adjust the focus of the camera and deliver crystal-clear images.

The Nikon eyepiece diopter incorporates a numerical value, which, when combined with the viewfinder's base diopter value of minus one, provides the end-result value. This means you don't need to combine the camera's base value with the accessory diopter's value to achieve your desired result. Simply add the DK-20C -2.0 Diopter to your camera to experience the difference.

Please note that neutral correction eyepieces do not replace the supplied standard eyepiece. The use of a neutral correction eyepiece will change the diopter value of the camera from minus one to zero. To determine which Nikon diopter value is best suited for you, consult with your ophthalmologist, optometrist, or dispensing optician.

Some Nikon SLR Cameras have built-in adjustable eyepiece correction. Please refer to your camera's instruction manual to see if additional threaded Nikon eyepiece diopters can be combined with your camera's built-in diopter control. For cameras with built-in diopter control, use additional Nikon eyepiece diopters only if your vision dictates that optimum viewfinder sharpness cannot be achieved with the built-in diopter adjustment control.

In conclusion, the DK-20C -2.0 Diopter is an affordable, high-quality accessory that enhances the functionality of your Nikon Digital SLR camera, making it an invaluable tool for photographers seeking to capture the world with perfect clarity.
