This case works exceptionally well with my phone  and MagSafe charger in my car.

Good product

The Commuter case for the iPhone 16 Pro leaves 1 inch of the top screen edge, above the new camera button, 100% exposed. I've used OtterBoxes for ALL of my phones the last 20 years, but I will NOT be using one for this phone. 
I am SO disappointed with the design of this phone case. After only a few days of using the Commuter case, I decided to look elsewhere for a case that DOES protect 100% of the screen edges. A $1,200 phone that I carry all day every day, and drop here & there, MUST be 100% protected. Period. And the design of the iPhone 16 cases with the edge missing above the camera control, is not okay.

The Defender seems to be strong, sturdy and resilient

Overall, the case is great.  The one item that has already failed is the little fold-over cover that snaps into the space where the power plug is inserted.  That cover has already detached from the cover.  Also, the cover adds so much girth to the dimensions of the phone, my Belden phone charging stand with the adjustable height power plug, doesn't charge the phone because even on the most extended setting, the plug doesn't reach the contacts in the phone.

I bought an "Otterbox" case on Amazon and it was not the quality and fix that my Otterbox cases have been in the past, so I returned it. I then bought this one of the Otterbox website and this one is Otterbox quality. No more Amazon Otterbox cases for me.

I wondered when MagSafe was going to be put on a Defender case.  The product is good but I do miss having a belt clip/case to go along with it.

Beware. The material will fail. I purchased mine August 2023 and now in January 2024 the flap that covers the charging port receptacle is about to break off. 
Otherwise, it's a good case and I love the ability to attach a lanyard?. Just beware!

Material will fail

I preferred the old version that was entirely covered in rubber; which helped prevent sliding on slick surfaces.  Considering adding a mag-safe sticker to my old case and going back.

Meh decent enough

This case works great with the magSafe charger.  It is so nice that it feels like I got a new phone.  It is slightly smaller than the Defender Pro series case so it does not fit in the defender holster.  It will fit in but you will soon get tired of picking up your phone when it falls out.

Almost perfect

As a long-time user of Otter products (15+ years), we experienced the quality and reliability of holster and case.  We purchased three cases, alpha glass protectors, and holsters for our new iPhone 13 Pro phones.  We cannot use the holsters!  Turquoise color case is much too small for the holster (simply doesn't fit at all).  "Blue" and "Purple" case does fit the holster; however, the clip that holds the holster onto the case is not secure.  The phone will fall easily out of the holster with slightest body movement. (Phone fell out of holster in a parking lot while exiting the car.  Unaware of its loss until it was found on pavement later after returning to the car.)  The Alpha Glass works well and instructions were easy to follow.  I do not recommend the Turquoise color case or the holster for this iPhone model. Order Nbr 16168074

Do not purchase holster for iPhone 13 Pro Max!

I have a few different cases for my phone and this one is definitely my favorite. It is a more chunky case, which I like, with rounded edges which makes it more comfortable to hold. I also love the protection around the camera lenses. Great case!

Best case!

I had my old phone for 5 years with the same Otterbox the whole time! I can't tell you how many times I dropped it down the stairs, out of my pocket when getting in the car, off the counter while cooking, once in the toilet (shhhh) and my Otterbox always kept it safe. I have to admit that 3 years of covid alcohol wiping it down, has made it a little dog eared, but overall it's still doing its job. My 5yr old phone still looks brand new! 
Here's to the next 5 crack-free years with my 3rd Otterbox!!!

Another 5 Years, No Cracks!!

For over 15 years we've selected and only purchased Otterbox Cases for all of our phones. First experience was receiving a new work phone - covered by an Otterbox case. We look forward now to charging our phone - wirelessly.

In 3 separate instances - The Otterbox Defender has saved our phones (my wife's phone).

1.) Phone left on hood of car while loading the car. Car driven over the phone, tire tread mark on the face of the case - phone unscathed.
2.) Phone left on the hood of the car while loading/unloading grandchildren. Phone fell off car while driving on roadway, phone bounced striking the road, hit a guardrail and lading in a field adjacent to the road - phone located with Find My (app)
3.) Phone left on hood of car while picking up grandchildren from school. Drove 10 miles home to discover phone lodged in rear wiper blade.

Dependable - ALWAYS

Seems more sturdy than our earlier otterbox. Nice that the rubber doesn't completely come off the plastic however plastic on the back is little bit more slippery than the rubber was.

Good case

So far it's a pretty solid case. Fits snug as a bug. However 
Is there a holster for this case because I am not able to find one on the OtterBox website ? 
Will another model iPhone holster fit this case ? Please advise

HOLSTER?

Bought two of this model, with both cases the rubber covering the charging port connection to the rest of the case wore out and separated, causing the  cover to separate from the case and become unusable in its designed purpose. First case lasted a few months intact second case not half as-long as first. Not sure if because it's a Mag safe case the expectations is that no one would use the port but disappointed in the quality.

Port cover failure

I bought this for my 13 Pro when I first got it and I am hard on phones but the back shattered after dropping it about 1 1/2 ft from ground.  Excellent customer service, got a new case for my replacement phone but the back of my phone scattered again after 8 months with the new case.

Great case not too bulky!

While hiking on a paved trail, I squatted down to pick up something I dropped and the phone fell out of my sweatshirt pocket. I'm 5'1. It fell, at most, 12" or 14". Not only did the entire back shatter, but TWO camera lenses also shattered. I've trusted and sworn by the defender series for years. It got my phone through my daughter's toddler years. Now it falls barely a foot and the whole back shattered and two camera lenses to boot? There were no Genius Bar appointments. I had NO camera for my daughters moving up day.

SUCH a HUGE disappointment

Barely any damage when to me and my phone when I wrecked on my motorcycle. My pant leg has a bug hole where I hit the ground and no damage to where my phone was in my pocket. Phone case performs above and beyond.

Real leg saver

Looks like a lot of people have been having the same problem.  My wife dropped her phone from about table height in our kitchen onto a wood floor and the back glass on the phone shattered.  I don't think this would have happened with the regular defender case that does not have MagSafe compatibility.

Back glass broke in case

OtterBox finally came out with some great colors for their defender cases after years of boring ones. The rain check case says it works for iPhone 13 but it doesn't. Phone is barely a year old. Why won't OtterBox make the new colors available for the old phones even when the phone is 1 yr old. Rain check color needed for iPhone 13 Pro. Why won't OtterBox be more fun & make better colors available on models at least 1 yr old. Dark boring colors are so outdated & why I quit buying cases from this company. I went to other companies & even found generics of OtterBox with more vibrant color choices. I love the rain check color combo & it's the only reason I came back to OtterBox. After ordering it for my phone it wasn't compatible for iPhone 13 like it says it is. Loved the protection of the cases but not the color options. Make me a fan of OtterBox again please. :)

OtterBox refuses to make cool fun colors

It's very slick and slippery. I kept dropping my phone and it kept slipping off stuff so I just went back to my cheaper case.

Too slippery

Ok, call me stubborn. I have stayed with Otterbox for longer than I can remember. Always a happy customer until now. My wife had this case with her iPhone 13 pro. she dropped it from about 3 feet up. Phone landed on its back and the back of the phone shattered. We went and spend a small fortune replacing the back glass, purchased a new case (this same one) and thought we were good to go. A week later she dropped it from about four feet up. Back shattered again. Still being stubborn, I left this case on my 13 pro. Last week I dropped my phone while walking down the hall. It fell from three and a half feet up onto carpet and the entire back shattered. This is not coincidence, this is not from abuse. All three times the phones shattered starting from the exact same spot. You can see the cracks spin out from the lower right section of the camera area. Not one, not two, but all three. When looking at other reviews I saw the same problem with multiple phones. If you look at the fit, the high camera edge puts pressure right on the camera lift area. If you drop your phone and the case's raised edge gets hit, it will focus all of the pressure to one specific spot and then you are toast. How Otterbox engineers missed this, I will never know. I know, I am a stubborn idiot for going through this three times before abandoning Otterbox, but I am a stubborn person. Hopefully my experience will help save you a phone. Do not buy this if you actually want to protect your case. The design of the back cause more harm than good. I am entirely convinced your phone would be better with no case at all. Really, it cannot protect a phone falling three feet onto carpet. Come on Otterbox!

Old reliable

After a crazy night out with my friends, I?m pretty sure I dropped my phone hard on the ground 3 times. I was jumping, running, doing all kinds of crazy movements, and it just flew out of my pocket. To my huge surprise, the tiny raised camera protector protected all 3 cameras, leaving them unmarked. Even better, the screen protector was completely undamaged! As you can see in the photos, the case took a hell of a beating but the phone didn?t. I?m so glad I went with the magsafe version too, because the wireless charging is just flawless.

However, there are some annoying things that I?d like to see improved with future designs. The camera edge is raised too much that it makes the phone rock when on a flat surface, and it gets pretty annoying sometimes. Also, the charging port cover is flimsy and cheap, and obviously it fell off within 6 months of use.

Overall, I?m super happy with this case?s ability to protect my iPhone despite how thin and sleek it is. Would recommend to an average user!

A solid case

The protection and grip of this case is the best of the 3 cases I?ve tried and the MagSafe seems to hold better. The rim around the lens protrusion is very slightly better but could be thicker to extend more beyond a lens protector.
