Questions & Answers

OSCAR H : How much weight does this unit hold (per side)?BRUCE D : Hi Oscar: Have had the op/tech dual harness for about a year now. Great product. I carry two cameo's usually, or camera and binoculars. Carry a Nikon d7000 with a 18-300 zoom and on the other side a d7100 with 80-400 zoom. No problem with the weight, probably about 8-10 lbs per side. I do try to keep a hand on the camera's while on the move, they will swing a little if you let them. Very reasonable in price. Go for it -JOHN S : I had no problem with the weight of standard DSLR's combined with fairly heavy sports lenses. It uses standard camera strap material and clips so if you think your camera strap would hold it, then this will probably hold it as well. I am not aware of a weight specification.BARRY L : I carry a Canon 7D with 70-200 usm II on one side with no problem. weight of both 5.08 lbsRODOLFO T : I think you can carry any camera with any lens on it. In other words you can carry any thing you carry with the original camera strap.KENNETH M : I can't say for sure how much this unit will hold per side but I guess it will be more than anybody really wants to carry since it is made of ballistic and thus it is very strong. Because I shoot film I carry with this unit 2 Leica R6.2 cameras (2x625g = 1250g). One of the cameras has got a Leica Vario-Elmarit-R 28-90mm/f2.8-4.5 Aspherical (740g) lens attached to it, and the other camera has got a Leica Vario-Elmar-R 21-35mm/f3.5-4.0 Aspherical (500g) lens attached to it. The total weight I carry with this unit amounts to 2500g = 2.5kg = 5lb. After a couple of hours hiking with this unit with the above named cameras and lenses attached I feel the weight and wouldn't like to carry more weight (though I usually carry a tripod as well). The maximum weight this unit can hold per side probably only the manufacturer can tell you but in the real world if will most likely suffice by a large margin for any camera equipment you want to carry around. I hope this may help.CHRIS L : Have never used it to carry more than my D 300. But it distributes the weight nicely and places camera right where you need it. I would recommend this system to anyone carrying a larger camera as in high quality SLR, especially if you are using telephoto lenses. If you are carrying small point and shoots with binoculars it would work well too. I think if you are carrying a heavier camera and lens with binocs, it will work, but that's a lot of weight.VICTOR D : It will easily hold my 2 Canon 40D's one with a 70-200 mm lens the other with a 24-105 mm, my cousin has one and she carries 2 !D mark II with similar lenses. The strap is very well made and I believe it could handle a lot more weight. It is also very comfortable to wear for extended periods such as wedding shoots which can be several hours.DWAIN M : I've held a 7D with a 100-400 Canon on one side and a 40D with a Sigma 70-200 on the other... worked just fine but I'm old and it got heavy quick.Mark W : I use mine with 2 DSLRs, a Nikon D7000 and a Nikon D800, both have battery grips and extra battery. I usually have a large heavy long lens on one and a wide angle lens with a flash on the other. Sometimes along with that I have a tripod closed up attached to the center strap. Use it almost daily, and have had it for over 2 years, have never figured out as to why anyone would want to spend all the extra money for the Black Rapids alternative!MICHAEL H : I don' t have a numerical weight, but have had two full size SLRs with telephoto and large wide angles without any problem. JON R : Too dangely. I got a Cotton carrier and like it much better. It's better to have your gear secure.
Shopper : will the connectors on these straps fit into Tamrac strap connectors?MICHAEL H : YesMICHAEL J. K : I do not know this answer, I bought the matching straps so I knew it would fit, I would recommend the same for youRALPH B : Unfortunately, I am not familiar with those connectors, but you can do one of two things: (1) contact Tamrac, or (2) buy the harness and find out if they are compatible - it can always be returned.ANDREW R : It is doubtful that this item is compatible with the Tamrac strap connectors.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?MARY W : Recommended by photographer I respectFELICIA F : Neck issues make the crossbody options painful. Reviews were excellent with several attachment options.JOSIE H : never used it yetJAIME A : Because awesome harness is awesome. I'm a big guy and took a chance on the fit. Usually these things are not made for guys like me. It is comfortable and can carry 2 cameras all day with no problem.Theodore K : I viewed the video online. It works better than expected. It can hold a Nikon D90 with a heavy telephoto lens easily.

Not for me.

returning it. I couldn't tell very well from the photo but it connects to your camera with the little straps. I need the kind that screws into the mounting screw at the bottom of the camera body.

OpTech dual harness

I have attached a pair of binoculars and I found that they balance easily and don’t bounce around on my hips. Easy to attach and detach with the bayonet clips. Definitely worth the price.

Op/Tech dual harness

I have only used a few times, but I am very impressed. Much less stress on shoulders and neck when carrying even one camera. Looking forward to using this on a full-day job to see if it is as good as it seems so far.

Does what I needed it to do.

I do a good deal of outdoor shooting for a sportsmen club I belong to. this has made it easy for me to securely and comfortably carry two cameras while trekking around the club through wooded areas and other tight spots. Before I would carry one camera, multiple lenses, and change lenses when needed. Carrying two cameras has really simplified things for me. I'm a big guy (6'4", over 300 lbs.) and this fits and works well for me.

Does What I Expected

I carry two Nikon D5300 camera bodies on this, one with an 18-300 lens and the other with a 150-600 lens. This harness does a good job of distributing all of that weight and is a vast improvement over carrying each of them on a single strap over my shoulder. It has a good amount of adjustment on the attachment straps to allow the cameras to hang at the level I like. I bought the XL version because I fall on the line between the sizing for L and XL. Even with the chest strap, it seems to slide at times and I wonder if the L would have been a better fit. All in all, it is a great value for the nature photography I like to do.

Comfortable and affordable!

I use this product when I need to use two cameras simultaneously. A 70-200 f/2.8 lens can be carried for hours without fatigue. It also connects via the camera lugs, vs. the base plate. If you need to switch between the strap and a tripod, this is recommended over some of the other systems that are available. It isn't as "sexy" as one of the more expensive straps, but it does the job very well.

BUY and be happy.

I have had my harness for only 2 weeks, used it twice for 3 hours each time with no problems. A 5DII with 24-105 on one side 60D with 70-200 on the other side. Really like the double strap system for more security. If one side brakes you do not lose a camera. Also you can keep your quick disconnect on camera allows you to disconnect the camera from the harness in seconds and right on to a tripod or monopod. It is great can not beat the price.

I can shoot all day with this rig!

I really can't say anything bad about this harness. It is a great deal when compared to the other dual camera straps that are available. With this strap, I can keep my tripod quick release mounted to the bottom of my cameras. I would also recommend getting an Op-Tech shoulder strap to be used when you do not need to use the harness. You would be able to switch between the shoulder strap and the harness in seconds.

Good Harness

It is a good Harness, very secure, the quality it is very good, and easy to use. Sometimes you have to "fight" with the strips, when you try to focus quickly to take the picture. There are others harness but they don't look secure(for me), so I prefer Op/Tech with it's pros and cons.

Dual Harness

This is the second one I have gotten. A perfect fit for people using different lenses on different camera bodies. Lightweight, durable and not too hard on your sholders. I have used this harness for extended periods of time (10 hours) without much discomfort. Casual use would be a piece of cake.

Comfortable, does its job

I use two cameras at my son's college football games. Having the cameras hanging from this harness is SO much more comfortable than having all that weight hanging from my neck. I have to keep my hands on my cameras as I walk to keep them from swinging and bumping into anything, but I'm accustomed to keeping my hands on them anyway, for safety. I may look into holsters or belt clips later to supplement this system. The only annoyance I've experienced, and it's not an issue with this product, is that when I shoot in portrait mode and take the camera away from my eye, the strap sometimes snags my glasses and pulls them off my face. I can deal with that. It's a small price to pay to carry my cameras in comfort.

Versatile & Comfortable

I use this harness for carrying 2 DSLR cameras and\or binoculars. I have a spinal injury, a knee replacement and awaiting another knee replacement . Neck straps are not an option. The op/tech harness system is very comfortable while carrying the cameras/binoculars and extends my "outings" for many more hours. The system is extremely versatile with a huge number of available optional items for individual configurations. The attachment-to-camera design is very secure and safely holds items attached to it. Quick changes of items to and from the harness are easily accomplished

Works as you'd imagine

5 stars as it worked exactly as I expected. I hung (2) 5DM3 with (2) medium sized zoom lens'. When you walk quickly, you need to hold on to the cameras as they will flail around. Each camera hangs by two quick release, plastic latches. I was concerned that they might accidentally open but they didn't. Even if one opened, there is a second, which gave me some ease.

Finally!!!!

I'm doing a 365 day project at a local park and nature center and like to have both camera bodies with me so I can access both my macro and 200-500mm lenses without having to stop, and switch. I was skeptical that this harness would do the trick at first but after owning it a couple of weeks I can safely say it handles the problem of how to carry and easily access both cameras. The harness is adjustable and sits comfortably and evenly distributes the weight of both cameras allowing me to hike hands free of unnecessary baggage. I'm totally impressed!!

So useful

I have used this to replace a Black Rapid set up -while I am not yet as comfortable with the way it hangs as compared to the BR - the convenience of swapping it over with the other optech straps and the instant detach ability more than make up for that.

Great but not versitle

I'm a birder and casual photographer. I want the weight distribution of the dual harness strap with the configuration of the Op/Tech Reporter strap - both binoculars and Canon T3i camera hanging down in front of me, neither one of them on my side. With the purchase of four pairs of Uni-Loops I've been abel to incorporate a lot of flexibility. If Op/Tech or someone had a gender changer for the snaps it would not take as many Uni-Loops.

Great Product

I carry my camera & binoculars with it while birding. Can bird all day carrying 400 mm lens and binos with no neck or back pain. Gear stays out of the way until you need it. Can also be used as a harness for a single camera or binoculars. Not too pricey but well made. For added flexibility get an Op/Tech camera strap, quick connectors are the same so you don't have to change the attachment straps.

Great camera strap at a great price

I haven't used it in an event yet, but after trying it out and attaching both cameras, I can tell it's going to be much more comfortable than carring each of the cameras on its own strap like I did before. It also makes it so much easier accessing each camera without having the straps getting tangled. The strap with the slide works great as well. You also don't have to worry about the cameras hitting eachother even if you bend forward at the waist. It appears to be well made, and for the price, you just can't beat it.

Nice idea.

This is a handy item. I can now carry two cameras at the same time without having to change lens. The ease of having two lens on my cameras, saves me from missing a shot. It's a comfortable way to carry the cameras and not hanging on my neck. The only problem I have, is when I bend over while using one camera, the other camera wants to swing out. Other than that. I see no problem. Nice idea Op/Tech.

Op/Tech Dual Camera Harness

Have not given this harness a hard workout, but, I have fitted it to two Nikon DSLR's and exercized the harness for comfort and ease of use and practibility. Works as described, and is easy to handle both camera's. My only negative for the package is that an extra two sets of male and female strap connector should be provided with the rig for the original camera staps so independant camera use can be restored with the original straps. It is a given the additional sets will be bought by the users, so include and add on the cost for the package. It will be worth it!

Is Bigger Better?

I received this item on Thursday, July 14 and put it into action that Sunday the 17th. I had two engagement session scheduled back to back! My gear included a 5D w/70-200mm f4 IS & 30D w/24-70 f2.8 IS. Both set-ups had battery grips on them! The sessions took just under 4 hours to complete. No fatigue! Not on my neck, shoulders or back! It was refreshing to shoot for that length of time and not feel stress from lugging two heavy pieces of equipment. I don't care for factory straps. I learned that a long time ago, so I don't use them! An assistant would hold my second set-up or I'd end up placing it in on the ground until needed. Not a great idea! Nor was it effient! The harness has your gear at the ready immediately. It's smooth transition from one to the other is night and day from my previous way of switching cameras. Go from landscape to portrait, drop one-grab the other, shot & move, disconnects-attach to tri/monopod and re-connects quickly and easily! My flow was much improved this past weekend. Thanks to the Op/Tech Dual Harness! I looked at a few different makes and models (Black Rapid & QuikRapid) that supported two cameras. Price not being a factor with my decision. I thought Op/Tech offered a product equal to if not better than the other manufacturers. Although the other units may have looked more substantial, this slimmed down design will fool you. In a very good way! It performs the same function as the others and the cost makes it accessible to all users not just the pro/semi-pro photographers. Bonus, it's made right here in the U.S of A. I'd buy again and again! Bigger is not always better!

I love, love, love it!!

I have 2 Nikons with a 18-200 lens and a 200-400 lens. I was constantly having to carry both around my neck because I wanted to be prepared for different shots. this way, I am able to carry both without breaking my neck. The only thing I wish is that it was a tad more adjustable since I wanted my friend to get one but she feels that it is too long for her arms. It fits mine fine but I am 5' 4.

Handy if you aren't moving too fast.

This harness works well for a sporting event where you want to quickly switch between 2 cameras with different set ups. If you are moving and want a secure restraint, this is not what you're looking for.

How best to manage your cameras

We made a tough decision with the current economic climate to purchase a second pro-Nikon dslr and had began reviewing the best options to manage carrying both of them at the same time. This by far is one of best decisions to have made. This camera management platform takes the load off your shoulders and in the environment we operate this is absolutely the cat's meow. It leaves your cameras with in reach yet not worrying if the strap will come off your shoulder.Even if you don't load up with 2 bodies it leaves you with multiple options with Op Techs various attachment options that are too numerous to speak of here. How best to manage shooting events

I use this harness for shooting weddings and environmental portraiture. It is very comfortable carrying my nikons (both D90 bodies, one with my 80-200mm 2.8 lens and the other with my 18-200mm lens + SB600 flash. Both cameras are perfectly secure and are easy to reach and bring into shooting position. This harness works beautifully, its secure, its fast and its comfortable.

Light and easy to use

I looked at other harnesses. I already have several Op/Tech straps so I chose this one. All of the connectors on the other straps fit this one. It is very easy to transfer a camera or binoculars from a neck strap to this harness using the quick connectors. I enthusiastically recommend this harness especially if you use other Op/Tech straps.

Op/Tech Dual Harness

By NLAlston

I had desired a double-camera harness and, initially, there were three which grabbed my attention. One of the three was commanding (IMO) too much of a cost factor for what was offered. Another one was very nice, but I didn't like the idea of securing my cameras to it via the tripod connector. So, I thought that I'd give the OP/TECH Double Camera Harness a shot. I mean, it looked like it would serve the purpose well and, then too, the price was appealing. Well, the harness arrives, and I ...
