Questions & Answers

kelly k : I want to but one of these for my otherhalf. I see it says will fit Canon 5D. My otherhalf has a 5D Mark 1 will it fit ?KURT H : Kelly, it fits different lenses. The adapter rings are for the front of the lenses. It fits in both of my cameras hot shoes (Canon 1D and 7D). Pending on what lens I have on them is what ring to use. My 28-300mm "L" and my 70-200 lenses take the 77mm adapter. My Tamron 28-75 takes the 67mm adapter. My 50mm f/1.4 takes the 58mm and so on. So yes, it will fit your 5D hot shoe but the lens is where the ring flash hooks up via the adapter rings supplied. It was a decent investment and does work well for the price.kelly k : Thank you all fir your quick responses. I will be buying my otherhalf this flash ring for Christmas and I hope he is as happy as all of you :-)KURT S : the unit is made to fit on a standard camera flash mount and the adapters fit on the lens so it really doesn't matter which camera you use; Canon, Nikon, or any other camera. I have one of these units and it does a great job even though it is a very affordable flash ring.DENNIS Q : Yes It comes with several adapters for lens sizesLEE A : The adapter will work with any lenses you may have. I am very happy with my purchase. Get it and I don't think you will be disappointed. I have other ring flashes and this one is geart.TRISTAN M : I use it on my Canon 5 D Mark 2 With no problems. I have really enjoyed this for my macro shooting. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.
Shopper : I'm thinking about buying this to use in studio portraits. Any thoughts?JIM H : I'm sorry. I'm not the guy to help you at this time. I bought this for my son. I ordered the wrong one - should have been for Nikon - and so I don't know how it will behave. I use a set of three 400ws units in the studio and I might have concerns about the power (although I don't know how much power this unit has so it's more of a question than a comment). Also, being a ring flash, this will give you even light all around whereas multiple lights will give you the ability to highlight one side of your subject while giving the other side lesss light, making thhe picture more interesting to most people. I know that doesn't answer your question but I've anwered based on past experience with ring lights. I generally only use them for lighting small objects. Not very imaginitive but it does what I want it to. JIm HooverJOE B : I believe the effective flash distance is much too limited for studio work. This flash is more for macro work at about 2-3 feet max distance from subject. Hope this helpsDENNIS Q : Cant say yet on studio, Gotta back off and lessen the flash for the shots I've done. Brighter than I expected.LEE A : This has been one of the best buys that I have made. You will not be disappointed should you purchase it.
oziel e : Hi. This flash works with the canon powershot g12.? Thank you very much for your reply.ANDREW R : It is unlikely that this unit will work properly on your G12. It is designed for use on DSLR cameras.

Awesome buy...

Bought this as an experiment to compare it to a Canon MR 14EX ring light (to see if the extra $500.00 for the Canon purchase price was warranted)...Well this works extremely well for the price, I tested out virtually every size ring on the lenses, high density plastic but durable enough for my purposes, the light just clips on and can be rotated around the ring, so that if you use the 1/2 off feature for either side, you can balance the lighting. It took a little adjustment to get the metering correct but stopped down an f stop was all it took. I really like the "constant" on feature and adjustable light levels, did just fine for some macros of flowers and bugs. I like this as its price point makes it almost a "disposable" item, so it's cheap enough to travel out in the field, as opposed to the MR 14EX which I use for precision tripod held studio work. This would make an excellent gift or for anyone wanting to venture into the macro world, and I used it with a canon 100mm f2 to do some portraits and it does leave a very cool catch light in the eyes. Very happy I bought this...

The Polaroid PLMRFC macro LED ring flash attaches to canon hot shoes and macro-capable lenses with mounting ring diameters between 52mm-77mm- seven adapters are included with this package. The power pack attaches to the cameras hot shoe through which all synchronizing electrical signals travel.

You can control the output level of the LEDs and select all or half of them to fire - 32 LEDs for full lighting, 16 LEDs to create purposeful shadows on three dimensional subjects. You will also be able to change from flash firing mode to constant on. Constant on will let the camera decide which exposure is best and provide continuous light when using video cameras or the HD video mode in compatible digital cameras.

A ring light is the best source for close up photography. And that makes the Polaroid macro LED ring flash the perfect choice for photographers who require shadow free illumination - perfect for medical scientific and forensic photography.
