Questions & Answers

SILVIA G : Is this the right adaptor to fit Pentax M and K lenses to a Canon 5D mark II?CARYNN K : I believe this adapter is for Pentax camera's so it may not be compatible to your Canon camera. You may want to check with the Pentax Forums and ask the question and see what responses you get. This forum has been very helpful when you need information. Good luck!JORGE G : No it isn't. This is to put M42 screw mount lenses (as Takumars) into Pentax K mount cameras.TUYEN N : I don't think it will fit for Canon.I use that adaptor Pentax M42 lenses to Pentax K camera body.JOHN H S : NO, ADAPTER IS FOR SCREW MOUNT M LENSES TO K MOUNT BODIES.MADELEINE C : My understanding is that this adapter is only for Pentax DSLR cameras. That's what I bought it for.CHARLES R : No Silvia this is not the right adaptor. This adaptor was purchased to allow me to use a Carl Zeiss Jena screw mount lens on my Pentax camera.BRISCOE L : No. This adapter allows m42 screw mount lenses to be mounted on Pentax K mount (bayonet) bodies.JEFFREY L : No.GREG C : I'm not sure but it doesn't make sense to me. I use this adapter to fit Pentax m42 lenses (screw mount) to Pentax k mount bodies (bayonet mount). If your Cannon body mount is identical to a Pentax k mount you'd be able to mount Pentax m42 lenses to it but not k mount lenses.IAN E : No. This is for adapting later Pentax bodies to accept screw mount lenses. So, for example, if you have lenses for a Spotmatic that you want to use with an MX body, you can put this adapter on the MX, and screw the lenses onto the MX body. Look for a K mount to EOS adapter.AARON C : No. It fits old Pentax screw mount lenses onto modern Pentax K mount bodies.RYAN S : No, this mounts screwmount Pentax lenses to current Pentax bodies.PETER T : No, it's for fitting older screw-mount lenses (Takumars, etc.) to Pentax cameras.Dennis V : No, it is for adapting M42 screw mount lenses to the Pentax K mount. It is only for Pentax K mount cameras.PHIL O : No. The adapter fits M42 screw mount lenses to Pentax K mount bodies.BRUCE N : No, this adapter only adapts M42 screwmount Pentax lenses to Pentax K-mount (bayonet-mount) bodies.JEFFREY N : Hi there, This is not the correct adapter; this one attaches lenses with the M42 mount (screw/threaded) to a Pentax K mount (bayonet). I do not know anything about compatibility of the Canon 5D Mark II & Pentax M & K mount lenses. I tried to send a link to information that might help you, but links cannot be sent here :\ Try the pentaxforums (dot com) and search "Pentax K mount to Canon Mark II". There is a thread there about the Mark II & Pentax lenses :) I'm sorry I don't know much, but hope that information helps to point you in a good direction to finding the information you seek :)MICHAEL T : I use this adapter to attach legacy Pentax lens to a current Pentax camera body.
rick k : IF I have older older Yashica screw mount lens is there an adapter to use thee lenses on a newer DSLR? IF SO what brand of DSLR body will work? ThanksHARVEY S : I don't know.MUHAMMET A : You may use this adapter to adapt m42 screw mount lenses to a modern pentax DSLR body. I used my old pentax and vivitar brand m42 mount lenses on my pentax K-x with this mount. It worked well. Yashica screw mount lenses should be also m42, please do your search here. Your other alternative to consider Sony Nex or Micro four thirds system cameras by Olympus or Panasonic. These mirrorless cameras can adapt almost all of the old lenses from most brands via mechanical adapters you can find in online sellers. I also used these adapters to mount my old lenses to Sony nex and Olympus micro four thirds cameras. They work well.ALEXANDER C : This adapter is the one to get to put M42 lenses on a pentax k-mount camera! It works the best! DO NOT buy the cheap imitations! They are difficult to use.
WILLIAM H : Is there a differnce between Pentax "K" adapter and Pentax "B" adapter? If so, what is the difference? Do these adapters affect in-camera metering? Thanks, Joe HeadOld G : I had the same question. I own the Asahi Pentax Mount Adapter K, as it states on (tiny) the Pentax box it came in. It converts K-mount to M42, and works just fine on any Pentax 35mm film or digital dslr. From the photos, this B model is identical. I will find out today when the delivery truck arrives. My guess is that somewhere along the way, Pentax changed the name from Mount Adapter K to B. One difference might be that the K version accommodates the M42 lenses that "clicked" into place, to ensure that the lens was not tightened too much. Once the lens is tightened to spec. the lens-release pin on the body snaps into a recess on the back of the lens, preventing further tightening. With old Mamiya/Sekor SX lenses, this results in the focusing index being a little to the right of pointing directly to the top of the camera, but the focus is fine at all distances. If you use this on the Mamiya/Sekor SX series of lenses for 35mm cameras (70s era), you will need to file off the stationary pin on the periphery of the back of the lens in order to screw the lens on fully. Be sure to point the back side of the lens DOWN so that bits of metal do not enter the lens ... With these lenses, you will have to figure a way to keep the pin that stops the lens down depressed constantly, since these lenses do not have a manual-auto switch. My "fix" was to bend the pin slightly with needle nose pliers, then tap it down flush with the back of the lens, but I'm certain there are "neater" ways of accomplishing this.Dennis V : The Pentax "B" adaptor is for the Pentax K mount. There are non=Pentax manufacturer for the Pentax K mount but they are not of the same quality as the Pentax manufactured adaptors. Buy the Pentax "B". They do not affect the in-camera metering. By the way, Adorama is great to deal with imho.DANIEL M : Joe, The "B" here is the model number. This adapter allows M42 lens to be used with K-mount bodies. Metering "Wide-Open" is the same. However, you will have to do "stop-down" metering for smaller apertures. (As you would with K and M series pentax lenses) Best, Dan

Its a pretty penny but pretty worth it

I consider myself a digital artist but there is no denying (or resisting) the allure of relatively low-priced, high-quality vintage manual focus Takumar lens. Like me and I do commend, try a cheaper adapter if you like and see if the lens is for you. By golly if you realize you love these old pieces of glass then by all means splash out for one of these premium adapters. It works a charm on my Pentax K-30 and its definitely a keeper for me :)

Solid

I've tried generic screw mount adapters, but none of them provide as consistent and solid of a connection as the Pentax original. I've used it many times without the cross threading issues cited with third-party adapters, and it has always been easily removed from the camera without the need for tools. Simply push in the spring/clip with your finger and it rotates out of the camera mount.

solid product

I'm glad Pentax has made this adapter available again, the off-brand adapters all seem to have problems or risks of getting a lens trapped on the camera.

The Only Adapter to Get

This is the only adapter to get for mounting M42 legacy lenses to your Pentax K digital camera. Anything else and you risk getting a product stuck on your camera. I've been using mine for years with no problems or issues. I'm going to get another one just to have one as a back up. Highly recomended.

Original PENTAX

Allows use of M42 lenses on Pentax DSLRs. I have a couple of "copies" but never felt comfortable using them. This is the real deal, at a great price.

Pentax OEM adapter

Works perfectly. Says "Philippines" instead of the old ones that say "Japan". But is smooth and does not get stuck on the camera.

The Mount Adapter B fits Pentax bayonet mount cameras and permits screw-mount lenses to be used on them. When used with this adapter, a screw-mount (Universal Thread) lens will focus to infinity, however it cannot be used for automatic diaphragm or open aperture metering. When used on any Pentax automatic camera aperture priority camera automation is retained when using screw-mount lenses and accessories.
