Questions & Answers

maclain s : Will this scope hold up to the recoil of a 338? and stay zeroed in?Dave P : I have a Mueller 8x32x44 and love it. I use it on a 6.5 Creedmoor. I would contact Pentax and ask them. They give an honest answer. They want happy customers.RICHARD W : So far this scope has held its zero on the bazaar recoil impulse of an M1A, which is pretty brutal to scopes. For a "cost effective" (don't confuse that statement with "cheap") scope, it's pretty good. If you go to Amazon and search (copy and paste the following): "Pentax (Optics Scopes) - 8.5-32x50mm GS-30 Matte (PP-HT)" you can read my four star review.... However, I recommend that if you buy the scope, then you purchase it from Adorama. They are selling these scopes at a good price and they shipped it fast.

Update of My Earlier Review

I decided to update my earlier review on this Pentax 8.5-32x50 Gameseeker 30 scope. The Pentax Gameseeker 30 series scopes consist of four models; the 8.5-32 is the highest power offered in this series. The next lowest , I believe, is the 6-24 power; which was evaluated by the NRA's American Rifleman magazine. The NRA gave the 6-24 Gameseeker 30 an excellent rating. My scope has been working excellently and I am well pleased!

Pleased with Pentax scope

I wanted a good inexpensive scope to use for long range load development. This Pentax scope is well made, bright, adjusts well and has the magnification I wanted. The Lifetime warranty is a plus since it indicates Pentax is confident in the workmanship of its products. Adorama packaged this scope properly and shipped it promptly to me.

The Pentax line of scopes; great!!!

I have owned scopes that cost as much as a good rifle and they could not make my accuracy any better. I shoot targets and I expect accuracy, and these scopes do the job very well without the expense. I love the warranty that Pentax carries on its entire line of scopes, a great indication of believing in the product.

The Pentax Gameseeker30 8.5-32x50 Riflescope (Matte Black) is accurate, rugged. The main tube features a 30 mm, one-piece construction for rugged dependability and is nitrogen filled for clear viewing at all times. The finger-adjustable high windage and elevation turrets ensure precision accuracy. It also comes with the additional feature of side parallax adjustment. A bright and sharp sight picture, that even a seasoned hunter can appreciate, is made possible by Pentax's legendary full multicoating on precision-ground, all-glass lenses in combination with their PentaBright technology. Shot-to-shot repeatability is ensured by the 1/8 MOA precision adjustments and Pentax's proprietary Precision Plex reticle.

A mounting base and rings are used to attach a riflescope to a firearm. A comfortable sight picture is contingent upon the height of the rings. A comfortable cheek-weld is the result of properly positioning the scope over the receiver. Mounting the scope close to the receiver is preferable, yet scopes with larger objectives need higher rings so the front bell can clear the barrel. It should be noted that in many mounting applications, a professional gunsmith's skills will be needed for proper installation.
