Great microphone for on camera use
Great mic for use on a mirror less camera like my Nikon Z7. Great sound quality, light weight, easy to use, takes no space in the camera bag

Great sound.
I use this with my iPhone and love it. Power runs off the iPhone. Sound did great! Easy to use.

Subpar performance and build
Flimsy will the recoil mount. Not great build quality. Sound quality is sub par compared to other products in similar price range.

Amazing little giant!
Incredible quality in material and also in recording clarity. Super easy to use and to pack! I absolutely love it!

Excellent Microphone for DSLR
This microphone works well with my EOS Rebel T3i. It offers great sound capture after some adjustment of settings within the camera.

Great Mic, don't expect the rycote to be black though
Mic sounds great and the build quality is what I would expect from Rode. Was really excited to get this in black as all models I could find in Canada were red. Unfortunately, this was not the case as I received it with the Rycote suspension in red. If y'all could update the picture or at least add a disclaimer to the description that would be great.

Really good product
It is a really good product, it arrived totally perfect and for both photography and video (highlighting the latter) it is very good. It is light, practical and comfortable in hand.

Wonderful little mic
Wonderful little mic. Love that it uses the cameras internal power and doesn't need extra batteries and I dont have to worry about turning it off and on.

Handy little mic!
This is a tiny and very versatile and decent sounding mic. I got it for video, but I've actually started using it for recording fiddle tracks too. It sounds better than my stage mic for fiddle, and I can back away a little bit and still get decently full sound. It looks like I have a tiny tribble on my desk (included furry wind screen works great as a pop filter) but this thing sounds great! It *does* require that I turn on phantom power on my audio interface. I know it only needs the 5v that a camera puts out, but it seems to do fine with a full 48V as well. The correct adapter for XLR - to - mini plug with power is required, of course, for that to work (those are cheap).

Sounds great. Rycote shock mount very flimsy.
The mic itself sounds very good. Haven't tested the windscreen.
The only complaint is, as many others have stated, the Rycote Lyre shock mount is really flimsy. The mic rocks up and down a LOT with the slightest movement. I crossed a pair of thin zip-ties under the mic, between the two sections of the mount. Just tight enough to limit the movement some, but not so tight as to eliminate the isolation properties of the mount. Haven't noticed any increase in noise so I think it is good to go.

Affordable Quality!
Bought this to complement my Saramonic unidirectional mic, which I use indoors. I use the Rode for outdoor stuff since I've noticed the sound it blocks is a lot better than the Saramonic.
Price is very affordable and so far its a good intro mic before I feel a need to upgrade to something more expensive.

Good for close-up audio
I use this with a Sony ZV-1, and it works perfectly. It is small and compact, but it sounds wonderful. It works best at short distance, obviously. So if you're a vlogger, this may be perfect for you.

Powerful little mic
Great sound and pick up. My only complaint is that clip and mic aren't balanced very well. The mic tends to droop a little, especially with the wind sock on.

Nice mic but ships with the wrong cable beware
Ships with the wrong 3.5mm audio cable which makes it useless.
The photos show a TRRS to TRS cable but what is in each box is a TRS only cable.
Glad I bought eight of these

Great affordable mic
This is a great small mic to have for quick videos on the go. Sound quality is great and it's compact size makes it easy for travel. I can also use it with my phone which is a huge plus.

Floppy mounting solution makes for limited uses.
I didn't actually use it because when I mounted it on an a6400 with cage the mike mount was so flexible the mic was turned to the left. I wouldnt recommend it if you mic mounting location is more than 4 inches from the plug in. Also, note this is a very "floppy" mic unlike some others.

I have not used the microphone yet as it requires an alternate TRS-TRRS Patch Cable to connect with my iPhone (11) - no conventional headphone jack. It would be very useful to new customers to put this information up with this microphone in a prominent place so one knows before one buys.

The deadcat falls off a lot and weighs the camera down and at one point the back came unscrewed and my audio wasn't recorded but when everything works it's good. Not sure if I bought a used product? The wires inside seem to be hanging on by a thread and I'm wondering if I need to return the product.

Rode VideoMicro - Great Value - Highly Recommended
Great value. Works perfectly with my EOS-80D and delivers noticeably better sound than the built in microphone. Suspension shock mount did a great job of isolating the mic from vibrations. Comes with wind screen too.

Great Mic, better than expected (and what the reviews said)
The mic is great and the sound compares to big market and pro model mics. Lots of people have a problem with the flimsy base, but it’s proven to take away the little bumps and other unnecessary sounds and is actually made of really sturdy materials. The range is much farther than I expected, and whether you’re a beginner or a pro, this mic would fit great, especially on the road!
