Questions & Answers

wael e : Hi does it work with dslr cameras like canon t3i ?DARRYL C : It connects on the removable head top with a 1/4 thread good tight connection. Use for shooting video and still camera Sturdy tri-pod which I like most about it (Not flimsy at all) The stickiness in the head can be adjusted with the screw under the label.
Emilio S : Is it the head of this tripod fluid? Is it good to do panoramic? I do filming of weddings and 15yearsMICHAEL S : Hi, Sorry I took so long to anwswer; the camera was a gift to me brother so I asked him to bring it to my house to try. Yes, it has a fluid head. It is very stable but not too heavy. It has terrific quality for the price. For panoramic shots I have a serious (and very heavy) professional tripod I use, but I believe this would be an excellent tripod for that. Mchael.GISELA M : This Tripod is very good Its stable, heavy duty cant beat the price and quality you get. Prof Photographer overseas GermanyBill M : Mine moves very fluidly, however a few reviews from other customers have suggested that this isn't always the case so... my conclusion is that quality may vary between units. I am lucky to have had this tripod for almost a year now with no problems, and it is certainly not babied.JIM A : this is an excellent tripod for the money. It's a bit on the heavy side, but it's good and stable. I have the next model up as well with the fluid head with two handles and much prefer that head for pan shots. I bought this tripod for my "B" camera and while it's good, I wish I'd have spent the extra money and gotten another one with the better head.GARY K : I have found the head of this tripod to be very fluid. Although it is mainly used for still photography, I used it with my HD movie camera this last summer out in Yellowstone National Park. Not only did I do slow pans of the terrain, but I did several movies of wildlife and was able to smoothly pan as the subject moved.

Less than expected.

Fluid Head in Pan is a sticky grease. The center post is not round and this causes tight and loose spots during panning. I Video Record a lot and Panning is important. I needed the height so I gambled.

best tripod I own

Very Stable for use with astronomical binoculars,Mine are 25x100 Zhumell binocs and weigh over 10 pounds. The sticky-ness of the pan head I believe can be relieved by perhaps applying silicone or other type of non-greasy lubricant. I will apply it and report back on the results. The sticky-ness is not a significant problem. [...]

How to adjust the ProVista F12/V12 head

I have the ProVista tripod with V12 head. The V12 head also tends to stick like others had reported on the F12 head. There are several ways to fix this "stickiness". On the front of the V12 head there's a self-stick V12 label (probably the same for the F12 head). Remove this label and you'll find an adjustable tension screw (big slotted white nylon screw) for the horizontal pan. You can try to dial the tension counter-clockwise to reduce the drag to see if the head now pans smoothly. If that doesn't work (head still tends to stick) then: - unscrew the tension screw, take it out of the hole. The tension screw attaches to an internal locking part to hold the head on the tripod. - Take both the tension screw and the locking part out. - Now you can lift the head off the tripod, clean all the lube/grease off the lower disc (the base that is still mounted to the tripod) - Then use minimum 200-grid sandpaper and smooth the surface of the disc. - Do the same for the mating surface of the head. - Re-coat the sanded surfaces with silicon/lithium grease or your favorite grease. - Re-assemble the head & attach the tension screw with its locking part - Do panning test and clean off and leaking grease - Enjoy your smooth fluid head

a bit heavy, but to get those smooth paning shoots it has to be heavy. It was exactly what I was looking for.

Tall but Stiff Head

Best use for camcorder video which needs to be set up higher than people's heads. The fluid pan head is not so fluid. It tends to stick when starting to pan. Once panning has motion, then it's smooth but not as smooth as I would like.
