Questions & Answers

Shopper : Can the pan/tilt head be removed or is it permanatly attached?ANDREW R : I don't believe that the head is designed to be user replaceable
CAROLYN C : I have a Nikon D7000 with 35 mm ($200 lens). I do baby and family photography. Is this the best tripod for that? Thanks!WILSON I : This tripod works really well for anykind of photo shooting. Its so stable and it head works really well. Its not the lightest one but it had the best support of all the tripods that I ever use..I'm sure it surpass your expectations because its quality and performance,...RICHARD Q : I am an amateur photographer. I shoot mostly volleyball with a D800 and 70-200 2.8 (about 6 lbs all up). I bought this tripod because it could get flat on the ground, could support weight, had a quick release mount and was pretty cheap. I did not figure I would be using 6lbs of camera on it at its full height. BUT, since then I have done many product shoots with this rig and have become comfortable with $5,000 of camera 4ft in the air on this tripod. Stable enough, though I imagine a $300 tripod would be more so. The quick release mount needed a bit of adjustment to be rock solid (it wiggled a bit at 1st), and the sequence of mount/lock/un-lock/un-mount takes a bit of getting used to. Old school twist handles instead of quick release ball mount for adjustment. Works very smoothly but is slower than a modern, more expensive, setup. I think it is a solid and rugged enough piece of gear for me, certainly for the price. But if I was a pro and could amortize my equipment, I would spend more money.RAMZI K : I've used this tripod with Canon 60D and several different lenses including 50 and 200mm lens (fairly heavy). For the price, I am very happy with the purchase. I use it for landscape and family pictures with remote control. It does have some drawbacks, such as when putting it away, you have to un-screw and re-screw the handles, and it you dont tighten them properly, the camera will start slumping, but these problems are not a deal breaker for me. It's pretty simple to set up and adjust height and level, and is versatile. It could be lighter, but then it would be more expensive.

Sturdy and Flexible

I was looking for a tripod that could cover a range of shots from low to standing and this is it. Also can easily compact enough to toss onto my Lowepro bag. Lightweight enough to take anywhere, solid enough to trust heavy glass.

Good quality for the price

I didnt want to spend an outrageous amount on a tripod. After reading the other reviews, thought I'd give it a try. Its built well and very sturdy. My only issue is the head kinda drops without support. I believe this can be corrected though with a little creativity. Good buy for the price and for someone who doesnt need to heavily rely on a tripod.

Solid, fast, affordable.

Needed a stable, portable tripod for DSLR video of volleyball (cramped spaces, need to move often, might get hit). This tripod is rock solid and can be adjsuted quickly. It can get very low within seconds and is strong enough to support a heavy DSLR and fast zoom. The quick release lock needed a bit of adjustment, but that was simple enough. Great for the price.

Solid travel tripod

Solid travel tripod. Sturdy, metal head with a 10lb rating. Felt confident with my heavy equipment attached. Legs easily adjust to level. Solid tripod, I'll be using more that just travel.

Great for the price I paid

Great tripod but requires attention to make sure you don't unscrew the head when trying to turn the camera horizontally. This can be helped by loosening the handles to make it move more freely.

Much better than expected.

First off, I have never used a top of the line gitzo/manfrotto/etc tripod. Perhaps using one of those is a revelation. My only previous tripod was a $20 throwaway....Coming from that perspective, this one has: Surprisingly solid build quality, thick aluminum where it needs to be, head and center column unscrew, 4 locking leg angles, compass actually works, nice fluid panning, good control handles, gets low. Works great with my E510, standard lens and flash bracket. Hard to say if it would support a heavier dslr+lens as well. Great feature set and build quality for the price.
