Shopper : Does this lens have internal focus (IF)? I need to know the maximum extended length for use in an underwater housing (IF is much better because you can use a shorter port).DON T : No, the lens elements do not move only inside the lens. This lens does extend from its smallest size of 11mm to fully-extended 16mm, measured from the camera body.RON H : The lens does NOT have IF, but I'm hesitant to measure it for you. It's very roughly 2-1/2" longer when fully extended.ROBERT B : The focus is NOT in internal. You may elect to limit the focus distance if you don't want to go to 1:1, but if not, then you need to provide for the full extension, and take into account the reduced f stop rating in the process.
Rick H : Is this the model F017 or an older model?DON T : There is nothing on the lens or the box indicating "F017". The only model number showing is 272EN IIANDREW R : MFR part number is AF272NII-700ROBERT W : I can't say what model the pictured glass is. Sorry. Robert
Shopper : can this lens be used with the Sony A 6000?CLYDE R : only have nikon camerasMATTHEW S : No, this is a Nikkon mount lens. Check Tamron's site for their list of Sony lenses.

Super Lens

This lens works miracles. I'm using it for macro photography and it is brilliant.

Wonderful Macro Lens

I was looking for a Macro lens that could also be used for portraits on my Nikon D7500. I'm still testing it out and have attached a portrait, flower and insect photo with limited lightroom editing that give an idea of it's range of capabilities. The auto focus worked well at 1:2 magnification or less. I went to manual at 1:1 since I wasn't using a tripod. VC worked nicely too, two of the photos were shot at 1/250. I'm pleased with the lens, the price and Adorama's service! I think I'm going to be using this one a lot even though it is a specialized lens. With more editing and focus stacking on the macro photos I think its clearly a winner.

Sharper than I expected

Happily surprised with this lens! I'm using it on a D500 and I don't have to be right on top of the butterfly or the bee to get the shot. Lens extends when you zoom it, but the stand-off you get from 90mm gives you the necessary room. I need to get better at controlling the very shallow DOF. Fun Lens!

Great lens, clunky focus collar.

The collar you slide to go from autofocus to manual focus does not always line up and shifts your focus. If it had a simple switch I would give five stars. Great optics though.

So far, I'm in love with this lens!

So far, I'm in love with this lens! The macro is lovely and my shots have turned out great. Takes a bit of getting used used and the auto setting hunts a bit. All in all, I would recommend it!

Almost Perfect

Lens purchased for macro shots of flowers and insects, as well as portraits. Lens focused rather quickly with good to moderate light. Lens is light enough that it can be hand held with some control, but a monopod or tripod is definitely recommended. The only real negative for me has been limitations due to lack of VC.

Sharp, fast focus

My favorite lens. It quite versatile as it is not just for macro shots. With macro it has great bokeh but for distance is is very sharp.

Love this lens, totally worth it!

I am just a photo newbie but I love this lens! Super easy to use and takes great shots. I use it for pictures of my family, clients and pets. The detail is awesome and what clarity! The only thing I don't care for that it seems to take a few seconds longer than normal to focus.....also bought it used...was in MINT shape, thanks Adorama!

Worth every cent !

Great lens, exceeded expectations. I would have gave it 5 stars but the auto focus switch its a little flimsy other than that beautiful picture quality, fast, easy to focus and great in low light

Excellent Product

I would have preferred a Nikkor lens, but my uses are limited so I opted for a lower-priced lens and the Tamron had good reviews and a $50 rebate. The choice was easy and the results have been great!

Tamron SP 90mm AF Macro

Bought this to match up to my D60 Nikon and wanted it for its speed and for macro work. In both instances, it is great. I was really surprised at the sharpness of the lens, the 2.8 aperture is great. And the value for the money is great.

Built by someone who doesn't like people

Photographing 9 years. Digital and medium format film. Worked with all kinds of lenses over the years. This is the single worst piece of photographic equipment that I own. Focusing this lens is an exercise in futility.

Great Macro

It's a very good product for the price. It does a good job of focusing in on what you are photographing and is a fast lens.

Great Lens

This is a great lens for the money! All my lenses are 2.8 Nikon lenses, so I wasn't sure how much I'd like a Tamron lens. I was pleasantly surprised! If you're looking for a nice, less expensive, true macro lens, you'll be happy with this one!

Excellent !

Just as good as the Minolta / Sony 100mm lens. Tack sharp. Great value. Excellent warranty. The "big boys" should offer a warranty like this for the $$$ they charge.

Superbly sharp, great bokeh, fantastic!

Opticaly this lens if fantastic. Amazing sharpness, great bokeh and strong colours. As a portrait lens its almost too sharp! It is let down by average build - both of mine have had grit get into the manual focus quickly so they lost that silky smooth feel and now grate. Barrel extension can be a problem when your working up close and wind out to 1:1 hitting your subject on the way (oops too close) especially if using extension tubes to get even closer. Its fabulous, one of the sharpest lenses I have used and I love the images it produces. If it has better dust sealing and no barrel extension it would be perfect.

Awesome lens for awesome price.

I bought this prodcut to venture into close-up photography. So far i must have taken like 150 pictures or so and have been very satisified with it. This was my first experience with any Tamron lens and frankly I am impressed. I am currently using it with my D70 and am very happy with it.

Budget Lens made to win market

I got this lens all the time in my camera's pocket. It doesn't doesn't have a stabilization motor but it takes pics very sharp without any issue. So far, so good that I'll keep this lens as a classic in DSLR.

Best Value 80-105mm Macro/Portrait Lens!

Very nice pro grade Macro lens. Capable of doing as portrature as nature.

Great Macro

By Martin D.

It is one of my favorite lenses. Awesome construction, which is only matched by the quality of the glass. Provides incredible resolution with no distortions at all optical ranges. Makes stellar portraits. Great at extreme Close-up ranges but be aware of increased lens extension, which can significantly decrease your working distance. This same lens extension makes a hood almost unnecessary.
