I thought that the grip of the legs could have better wrapability for surfaces that weren't as generous when it comes to texture, but it does suffer on being able to adhere to itself in that regard if the surface that it's trying to grip around isn't favourable. Overall, on plain surfaces, it does a great job holding up a phone with little-to-no shake. However bring it upon uneven surfaces and that is where the performance starts to suffer. I think that for the next model, the adjustable clasp moving from Horizontal to Vertical and vice-versa should be a bit less finnicky to work around in addition to providing better support to the legs when used in unadvantageous settings.

Once this mount has the smartphone camera securely installed, it won't let it go... very stable and rugged, as we're used to from Joby.

I used to bring Gorillapods for trips, and attach the mount to trees or rocks so we can easily do a group photo with a timer. For me the selfie bot is too much and I like to take "normal" photos with the help of this tripod.

If you want to shoot video with your phone and have crazy good audio, I've discovered that the side mounting points on the included tripod head can be used to attach the stock mic clips that come with a stereo pair of Sennheiser 8040s. The spacing is nearly perfect for ORTF recording, so I'll carry a Zoom F3 to capture 32-bit float stereo audio files that can be married to the video from my phone. It's an insane kit that fits in a small waist bag or crossbody to grab-and-go.

Needed a lightweight travel tripod and this completely fit the bill. Many different ways to use and securely holds my DSLR with 200mm lens. Love the ability to attach the sidearms when needed. I use them to position additional lights when needed. And hey, it even comes with an SD card! Who can't use another one? So glad I purchased this and would recommend for anyone needing a lightweight travel tripod or a good secondary tripod.

Underrated how useful this tripod is. In no way is it over hyped, I find it so easy to bring with me wherever I go and to set up anywhere I'd like. Just try not to get sand in the ball joint or you'll be grinding those rocks for years.

Way more compact than any full-size tripod. I've been able to use it in place of a full-size tripod by wrapping the legs around another handy pole or shelf. Holds rigidly but moves smoothly.

The clamp alone is worth it. The mounts for accessory arms make it future-proof and the overall build quality is excellent compared to most clamps. I would have thought the ability to rotate the clamp between landscape and portrait would affect the stability, but it's rock solid. I've been using Gorillapods for years, and they have yet to let me down.

This tripod feels amazing in my hands. Nice and light, but still has a good weight to it so I feel like this isn't some cheap plastic thing I bought. I'm in love with the ball head. I was flip-flopping on whether and I really needed/wanted this piece and it's my FAVOURITE part. I did not expect to like this tripod as much as I do. It's making my heart sing right now.

I had recently been shooting a venue regularly with zero room to set up stands and speedlights... The place has great ambience but... on camera flash would often kill that ... I had looked at gorilla pods in the past... thought heck a couple of these hung from the fence up high would do the trick... 2 v1's gridded and cto gel... and i was able to light up the ceremony without killing the ambient light... place is like a cave inside during ceremony time... So yeah... great tool to have in your tool box... get several.. !

This Joby gorillapod is an excellent tool for a variety of applications. This tripod easily accommodates my Nikon D300 with an 18-200VR lens. Balance and security are simply achieved by quick adjustments and the rubberized feet really grip. This product is so distinctly well built I ordered two more to use with my LED video lights. If you have used flexible tripods before, you know there are some inferior designs out there. The Joby gorillapod will not disappoint.
