Sigma's 17-50mm F2.8 EX DC OS HSM large-aperture standard zoom lens covers a focal length from 17mm wide angle and offers a large aperture of F2.8 throughout the entire zoom range, making it ideal for many types of photography especially portraiture and landscapes.  The OS, Sigma's anti shake feature offers the use of shutter speeds approximately 4 stops slower than would otherwise be possible. The OS feature allows Sony and Pentax users the option of viewing a stabilized image in the viewfinder, a feature offered only by Sigma.  HSM provides fast and quiet AF. Sigma's own FLD glass elements, which have performance equal to fluorite along with two glass mold and one hybrid aspherical lens, provide excellent correction for all types of aberrations. The Super Multi-Layer coating reduces flare and ghosting. This lens boasts superior peripheral brightness and provides sharp, high contrast images even at the maximum apertures. With a minimum focusing distance of 11 inches throughout the entire zoom range and a magnification ratio of 1:5.  When you need to stand ready for any photo opportunity you need a fast aperture so you can shoot in low existing light or at maximum range with a flash. This Sigma lens is perfect. Best lens I’ve ever had

This has become my walk around lens using either my sl1, t6s, or 80d. Sharp, fast, quiet. The zoom lock is especially welcome when I'm out hiking. Heavier than the canon equivalent but well worth the extra weight.

I have had this lens for a few weeks now and am more than satisfied with it...I use it on a canon 77D...it has great sharpness in most applications I have used it in...I would have given it 5 stars but the only issue I have with it is it sometimes struggles to focus...usually in very dark situations or when shooting directly to a very bright object such as the sun... I would definitely recommend this lens...

I have taken a few test pictures with the  Sigma 17-50mm lens and so far they have all been very sharp at all focal lengths and f-stops. I use a Canon 77D with this lens. They meet all my photo needs for this lens, camera combination as a wide to standard lens ( allowing for the 1.6 crop factor)  walk around. I am satisfied with this purchase, Adorama is great as always, fast shipping !

Review of the Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC HSM Lens

A little getting used to but great product. Focus ring rotates during autofocus requiring care in holding the lens. But it is solid and well built.

A great purchase. Weight and size were good. Function was a little getting used to, as the manual focus ring rotating in autofocus mode requires a correct grip. Don’t count on a cleanly understandable manual. They could do better. But the lens does what it is supposed to and it feels like a quality product.

I use this on a Nikon D7100; works very well and I love the results. Very sharp photos, excellent in low light, little chromatic aberration.

Sigma Wide Angle Lens Did Not Disappoint

I wanted a 2.8 APS-C lens and the Canon and Tamron were too expensive. This was on a big sale with a bundle included.  First, the bundle items were of much better quality than I expected!  the lens itself seems well made and versatile.  It won't be my primary lens, but a nice addition to my kit.  Sample photos I have taken are clear and sharp with good bokeh.  I have a Canon 80D and and it works seamlessly.  Adorama was very responsive and sent the lens quickly and well packaged.

Pleasantly surprised!

The package arrived on time. I purchased the lens based on my research and the reviews. It is what I expected, perhaps even better. Just what I needed to replace my "kit lens" and faster. It seems to be well built and good quality for the money. Time will tell if it is durable and dependable, I expect it to last many years with reasonable care. For those with focus issues, I suggest you make adjustment with the lens on your camera to "fine tune" it. I suspect improper compatibility or you turned the focus ring with the lens set for autofocus. Read instructions!

Great lens, just what I expected.

This is an outstanding lens for image sharpness and clarity. It is solidly built and keeps lens flare under control. There is no noticeable edge softness you get from most zoom lenses.
