The Rotolight Aeos is, to put into one word, BADASS! It works flawlessly. It produces an incredible soft light without modifiers. It is lightweight and very portable. It won't over power the sun BUT it will work in 90% of my outdoor portrait photography. It works even better indoors too!!

What a difference the AEOS can make! I've had the AEOS for almost two weeks. I have used it indoors, outdoors, for macro/closeup photography, some portrait work, and lots of High-Speed Sync shots. The main thing i have learned about the AEOS is that I wish I had picked one up sooner. I also have the NEO2, and it's also a fine little lighting solution, but I wanted the extra power of the AEOS, and the battery capability. I'm tired of carrying dozens of AA batteries and constantly recharging them. The V-Mount Lithium Ion battery and the D-Tap charger are a treat. I got turned on to Rotolight from watching Jason Lanier's YouTube videos, and I haven't regretted my purchase of the NEO2 and now the AEOS one bit. Great multi-tools for serious photographers.

Great 2 light bundle to purchase Half the cost of buying just one. Rotolight has been a game changer with photo and video enthusiasts. Best of both worlds with the flexibility of decent CRI With CineFx Feature for video use And HSS with no lag for photo makes it a go to kit to have. Although the accessories are limited and quite pricey, the overall use with lots of on board features makes it a great purchase. Works seamlessly with Elinchrom skyport Tx out of the box. Scanned and found both units right away. Great bundle to buy. It’s almost a no brained to buy the 2 light kit just for the price.

How is this better for in-studio beauty portraits? Shooting indoors, the models' pupils will most often be dilated, which is the main cause of red-eye. And red-eye notwithstanding, having the pupils dilated will reduce the color area of a person's eyes. With this AEOS, even on strobe mode, the "modeling light" is shining on the models, keeping their pupils contracted, showing off more of their beautiful colors. This reason alone is enough to make it better. But add to that the versatility, zero recycle time, portability, etc. It makes this light hard to beat.

It's a great tool. Admittedly, it's not as powerful as a full-on strobe, but in a dark environment it lights up your subject no problem. And for in-studio beauty portraits, it's way better than strobes. Why? Because with strobes indoors, the models'pupils are dilated. With the AEOS, the light is always shining on the model, causing the pupils to contract. So when you fire the light to expose the portrait, the eyes really show off their natural colors.

I haven't had this light too long but I'm enjoying it so far. I primarily use it for night beauty portraits. The quality of light is very good and obviously highly modifiable. The unit is remarkably light until you put the battery on. Relatively speaking it's still fairly light compared to a monolight but it's not something that you want to be hand holding with one arm (ala Jason Lanier) and shooting with the other. As many readers probably know Rotolight has incorporated a native capability in their Neo 2 to be triggered by the new Elinchrom Skyport. Unfortunately the Aeos does not have that capability which means that unless you have third party triggers you won't be able to use your Skyport to trigger the flash. I'm very pleased with the quality of this product. However, the order fulfillment by Rotolight is a little suspect. The barn doors that I ordered with the Aeos arrived without the knobs to attach it to the light. There is a filter kit that's included with the Aeos that is supposed to contain four filters. Mine arrived with three filters. Still, having had that experience I'm still happy that I ordered the light.

This was my first introduction to off camera lighting. I had only wanted to purchase one light but they were backordered. I went ahead and got the kit and I am not sorry. These offer amazing natural light. It would be great if they added on the v mount batteries and chargers to round out the kit. Even if it ends up being more.

Love this light, it is incredibly light but still very powerful. I love that i can use this as both a continuous light, and strobe when i need more power. Being able to change the colour of the continuous light or strobe is great too. Build quality is very nice, feels very sturdy.
