Good Tamron lens for Sony Camera

The 18-200 zoom range make this a great general use lens. I have used this lens for a local "First Friday" events as well as the Grand Prix of Baltimore. I have taken some great photos with this lens.
My only issue with this lens is with the loose zoom mechanism. When carrying your camera face down, the lens will extend to the longest position. There is a lock to prevent this. Remember to use this if you are not using the lens for a while.

Good Affordable Lens

I took the lens for a test drive at the local botanical garden to see how things look at different focal lengths. This lens is great. I was able to get some great telephoto shots inside and and had plenty of light and shutter speeds. It was pretty fast for a large lens. Easy to hold and it holds Cokin filters, which I bought the 62mm adapter for. The zoom is a little hard to move, but I am ok with that, because that tells me that I won't have to worry about the focal length changing while I'm focusing or releasing the shutter. The lens made the camera heavy and I noticed how much I shake when taking pictures, and will need to use a tripod and remote to reduce the movement. But, I really like the results and versatility of this lens, and it's a keeper. Will bring on my trip out of the country.

Great lens, excellent value!

Right after receiving this Tamron 18-200 mm lens, I went to the northwestern part of Arizona for a long weekend.  Every photo I took was crisp and clean. 

The first photo is of an old tombstone, showing the landscape.  Everything is clean.

The second photo is of the same tombstone, but a close-up of the crumbling letters.  Again, everything looks groovy.

I am thrilled to have one multi-purpose lens in lieu of constantly switching between an 18-55 and 55-200.  

I am thrilled!  And the delivery was SUPER fast!

Terrific Lens!

I got this lens with the intention of getting distance shots of birds, squirrels etc. not good or even useable from 18-40 and 100-200mm. The images exhibit extreme blur, even on a tripod, color distortion, false contrast and an odd haze possibly due to inferior glass. Even my 18-55 kit lens outperforms this lens. Yes its cheap, but for two hundred, you be much happier with a 35mm or 50mm prime. That or save up for something with better quality like a nikkor 70-300 vr. This was my first and last Tamron lense. Lesson learned.

Far from perfect

My husband ordered this lens for me as a surprise.  I really like it.  It is light weight and takes nice clear pictures.

Tamron Lens

I bought this for my Nikon DSLR. Price was good, performance around edges not quite as good as a Nikon lens, but certainly acceptable. Lens has good function and appearance, plus a rebate from Tamron. I'm very pleased with the purchase. And I appreciate the courteous treatment I received from Avi Hadef, my sales person.

Looked for one lense to replace two lenses I previously used. Lense is a bit heavy but not bad.  Autofocus as noted in some of the reviews is a bit slow but not objectionable.

I would buy this brand lenses

Bought this for the short end of the zoom, and the close focus ability across the entire range. Hunts a bit in low light, but so do my Pentax lenses. This will be the lens that spends a lot of time mounted. Sharpness is quite satisfactory for my purposes. Good value at the price paid.

Good Value

Lens does everything I need it to do. Great for candid shots of the Family and Grand Kids. The price was right and the quality is fine. I also use it for Nature & Macro shots and get good results. I am not a Pro, just a hobbiest, so this Lens more than does the job for me, and it saves switching from the 18~55 to 55~250 that came with my EOS t3.

Haven't found any Cons yet, and don't think I will. I would definitely recommend this lens to a friend.

Great Walk Around Lens

I bought this lens to get a wider range of focus without needing to be changing lenses for the wide angle shots. I have used it for 30 days now and the performance is excellent.

This is a fantastic lens for the money! It is quite versatile and takes great photos. I find myself using it almost exclusively versus the one that came with my Canon!

What a Lens!

I do not personally own this lens *YET*

However, my day-job is working for a newborn photography company that does in-hospital portrait sessions, and this is the lens they use. I've grown to really love this lens. It's not very light-weight, however it feels very sturdy and well-made. It's very sharp, I've had no problem focusing it, which is great where I work because you have to be quick sometimes. 
We usually have lights out to use all ambient light in the hospital rooms, so you can guess that it's pretty dark for the camera. I can have my bedroom just as dark as we have the hospital rooms, and my Nikkor kit lens takes a long time trying to focus and usually has a hard time. This lens has no problem at all focusing in the amount of light provided. 

I love this lens! I am looking forward to purchasing this for my freelance photography in the near future, and HIGHLY recommend this lens for anyone looking for an All-Purpose lens in an unbeatable price range.

Great All Purpose Lens

Great lens

For years my favorite lens has been a Tamron 70-300 zoom because I can use it for macro shots and to pull people's faces in when they don't know it.  When I needed a wide-angle lens, I'd have to change or backup way up.  With the Tamron 18-200, I get the best of both worlds.  It's compact and it allows greater flexibility and I don't have to worry about switching lenses and risking missing "the" shot.

Stop switching lenses

We bought this lense to replace our Sony 18-75mm and it does the job. 
The downfall is that it is very noisy when focusing and it drains the camera's battery life. I would recommend taking an extra battery with you if you are planning to take lots of pictures in one day. 
This lense is good enough to take kids pictures (which is why I bought it). Its an amateur lense.

Nice lens, does the job

Good carry on lens, perfect for outing and day light conditions. Little slow in focusing. Not that good in low light conditions. Gives a good, solid and sturdy feel.

This is a Swiss Army Knife of lenses and should be your primary lens if you use your SLR casually. Great lens to use on a vacation.

Great all purpose lens

Problems focusing when getting close shots. Adjustment is easy so just getting used to. My Nikkor lenses focuses better. Is this drawback of getting 3rd party lenses???

I have been using this product for a couple weeks now and I've taken hundreds of pictures with it. The quality of the photos is good for this price point. Focus is kind of slow and a little loud but it's Not any slower or any louder than my 50 mm 1.8 prime. Overall I only have two minor quarrels with this product. 1. When zoomed all the way out it is kind of out of balance even on a 60D But that is kind of what you come to expect when you are using 18- 200 mm lens. 2. IMO the zoom ring is kinda stiff making it very hard sometime impossible to zoom smoothly for video. That also means it has no zoom creep. But other than those minor problems it is a great lens amazing picture quality and build Quality that At least to me feels better than the canon 18-200 at less than half the price.

Works as Expected

I love this lens. My walk around lens is a 35mm, but when I'm on any type of trip I use this lens exclusively. I like the fact that it covers the wide range of 55mm-200mm and I don't have to carry or change lenses. Great for portrait and landscape shots and focuses quickly. I've been getting great Bokeh on all of my wide aperture shots with a nice focus range. I was shopping for a while and finally decided on this lens and I'm greatful I did!

Great Lens for the money!!

Autofocus will work at low focal length but Manual focus is required for 70mm to 200mm. Very disappointed. I don't have this  issue with other Tamron zoom lenses I have.
