The E-M5 Mark II is a little workhorse. It is so solidly built, and you feel it every time you pick it up. It is small and doesn't get in the way. It has all of the most useful features which allows for some amazing photography. It is a pleasure to use and so easy to carry around and always have with you.

Best little workhorse!

Excellent compact camera. This is a well built, weather proof camera, ready for the outdoor enthusiast. The image quality is still excellent when compared to the newer OMD models. I always carry it with me. Super compact and packs a great deal of image quality.

The weather sealed construction and scaled down sizing of my OM-D 5 MKII provides me a great travel companion. I count on it for flexible, dependable performance nailing shots and recording video. Pairing my OM-D 5 MKII with my PEN-F camera expands my productivity while utilizing the same BLN-1 battery system. Great combo!

My Go To Travel Companion

As a second body, I use the E-M5 Mark II for travelling and everyday camera. In that context, it has all the features that I need: weather-sealed, focus bracketing/stacking, a screen that can be viewed in all directions, Live Composite, audio jack. And it is so small and nice. A pleasure to use and a great source of creativity.

A very nice body

I thought I knew a lot for a beginner after doing my research. I was enlightened to explore the virtues of Olympus by my local dealer and my horizons widened. Not only did I get a superior camera and lens system, but I saved a lot of money. Never underestimate the value of professional advice.

A top shelf camera at any price.

I have been using a crop sensor and full frame from Canon but had started out in film with Olympus and wanted to get back. This camera is an amazing steal for it's price and features. The Smaller Size, Live View Composite and Stabilization alone make it well worth the price. The images are spot on! The manual is easy to digest and full of information. I picked up two primes and tow basic zooms and I'm very pleased. Now for a Pro Lens and looking forward to studio portraits and my next vacation.

This Camera is well Worth it!

I was still using an E-500 and generally pleased with the performance. When the card lid kept popping open and some funky software issues arose, I did my research and decided on the E-M5 Mark II Weatherproof package. What a difference in features and performance! The software modifications have made the transition very manageable to the new camera. Being able to use my old lenses with the MMF-3 4/3rds adapter is a bonus, though the kit's 14-150mm Zuiko lens provides a fine range for my landscape photography. A great value.

A terrific upgrade from the E-500.

I love my OM-D E-M5 II - I've had a Canon T7 for a number of years. I have to say the functions on my new M5 are intuitive in a way the Canon never could be. I have quickly learned most of what it can do and when I try and figure out the same thing on my Canon I'm still stumped. I also love how fast the focus is and that I can use the touch screen to focus on what I want AND take the picture. There are many functions I'm probably not in a position to really talk about but overall - this is an awesome camera for someone like me who is now a hobbyist but used to be a professional - back when we still used actual film. I wish I had gotten a camera like this when I switched to digital - I probably would have stayed a professional. :)

I love My OM-D E-M5!! What an awesome camera!

I love this camera! I got it mainly because of the small size and portability for traveling. My entire camera bag is about the same size as some of the other camera bodies out there!!!

Great for traveling

I love this camera! Its super easy to use, and i love that its weather proof. I upgraded from my OMD EM10 Mark II and cant wait to get it out in the field on some upcoming travel.

Worth the upgrade!

I purchased a gently used M5 MKII at my local camera shop. The previous owner doesn't appear to have even used the camera. This is my second m4/3 camera and I have to say, the level of tech and image quality I am getting out of this 16mp camera just completely blows me away. I have a Canon Full frame mirrorless, as well as a Canon APS-C dlsr and I really don't see myself using those anymore. The IBIS is fantastic and the amount of bracketing customizations will blow your mind. I am an Olympus convert and am now looking to add the OMD EM1-MKII very soon

Olympus has nailed the m4/3 camera tech

The OM-1 was the first film camera I ever bought, way back when I was in high school. I've been through more than a dozen film and digital cameras since then, but I've never found one that I loved more than that OM-1. So when I went looking for my first digital camera with interchangeable lenses, I was intrigued to find my old love had been reborn in the OM-D series. The OM-D E-M5 Mark II was everything I'd hoped for and more: compact, responsive, flexible, and capable of capturing the most amazing images. My first Olympus helped me become a photographer; the OM-D E-M5 Mark II is helping to make me into a better one.

What is old is new again

I am amazed at what this little body has hiding inside it. The technology and the size is what surprises me. I have shot a variety of Canon crop sensor bodies that do not cover what the E-M5 body can do. I have only started to experiment with the E-M5 and I am surprised with what it will do. I love that the body has a built-in digital tel-extender. I only have a minimum of lenses to start with, 9mm F8, 60mm Macro, and a 14-150mm. This camera will be part of my retirement project when I start it in the near future.

Performs above it's price point a Winner

When the original E-M5 was released years ago, I knew the switch to Olympus was the right choice for me. I used both the MK I and MK II, and must say bravo for this mid-range imaging tool - so many great features for the price point. I can't wait to see what lays ahead for the OMD series.

Great bang for buck!

I have to give this camera 5 stars with it being able to do so much. Now keep in mind this is coming from a first time OM-D owner. Upon getting it ready to take a photo, I was able to put it in a selected mode and take a photo. But I want to be able to not just take a photo in Auto mode. So I did what I usually do-read the manual not much help though. So I went to my next step, read the on-line manual. It was better but still left a lot to know for a first time owner. Thankful I stumbled upon Creative Live and John Greengo. His class on this specific camera was a huge help. It would be very helpful if a class on each camera similar to this class could be provided by Olympus on their web site for beginners. If it's there I couldn't find it. So far I am enjoying this camera, I think the features are great for beginners as well as pro's also. I'm still in the 101 class but very excited to learn more about this camera. I would definitely recommend this camera to anyone who may be considering the next step.

OM-D E-M5 Mark II

This is a great combo, light weight excellent pictures.  Setup can be a bit of a chore with all the function keys, but there are several videos that will offer suggestions.  About the only downside is in dim light,  good pictures can be had because of the great stabilization but moving objects or people can be a chore.  with good light or a flash it is hard to beat.

This camera is so amazing. Bought it specifically for Costa Rica and the Rain Forest and it never let me down. Great pictures and stood up to the constant rain.

Great Camera!

I come from a film background and only recently switched to digital. I spent a lot of time on youtube watching camera reviews. I also spent a lot of time in camera stores looking at different cameras at different price points. What won me over initially was the price and kit lens. I was very happy with the price point of the Olympus OMD e-m5 mk 2 but the 14-150 kit lens was what won me over. Having such a wide focal range really means I can just get out there and shoot photos rather than wondering which lens to take today and pretty much guaranteeing myself that I'd bring the wrong one. Being weather sealed also really helps open up options for shooting. I love being able to just grab my camera and go. Like a lot of people, I rely on youtube for reviews more than any other source. Now youtube hasn't been altogether kind to Olympus. I saw complaints about their menu system and the m43 sensor in general. Honestly, having bought it I cannot see why these were ever issues. The menus are clearly and logically laid out. All the things anybody would want to get at are quickly accessible. Maybe it's because there are so many customization options available to users of Olympus cameras that the reviewers simply were overwhelmed by this and thought they were too difficult. I can tell you, they just aren't difficult at all. As for the m43 format in general and the 16 megapixel sensor in this camera. My computer has a high res Retina display. I cannot view on my computer any of my photos in "full screen mode". The resolution of each photo is higher than what my computer can display. Now obviously you can see the entire photo if you scale it down to your display so don't worry, you can see your photo. The point of all this is, if you're taking photos to look at on your computer or 4k tv, then 16 megapixels is actually more than what you'll ever need. If you print, this resolution will print a very sharp 11x14 print at 300dpi. I don't know any average person that prints larger than this but if they did, it's the kind of size format that you'd stand back from to view on a wall and then you can get away with an even lower dpi. I've also heard on youtube that the bokeh produced by m43 is poorer than full frame. I just have to ask, how blurry do you need things? I can easily get photos with bokeh so blurry and creamy that they look like you're watching a dream sequence through a set of cataracts. If you need more than that why not take up painting instead? I love the styling of this camera as well, but that's secondary to all my other requirements in a camera. It's easy to use. Produces very sharp, clear photos, it's capable of beautiful background bokeh, the IBIS stabilization produces amazing results hand held. I can get photos I used to need a tripod to accomplish. The included kit lens is just amazing. I'm really happy with my purchase if you couldn't tell. It's nice when you've done your research, took a gamble against some poor advice you got on youtube, and turned out to have been more than right. I'd buy another Olympus camera again in a heartbeat.

Have had one for a year and want a duplicate

I used this camera only two times taking special care of it, and I realized yesterday that the small black front nut fell by itself. I do not know if this nut has any function. It looks it is only used for giving a good appearance to the camera, but it cannot be accepted in this kind of cameras. I tried to find it in the web in order to buy it, but I did not find it, so the camera does not look as it is supposed to look now. However; it could affect the sealed characteristic because there is a little hole in my camera now.

Rave reviews by fans of my photography galleries on the still shots captured. However, I am not a little bit disappointed with the video capability. Lots of time wasted in the field thinking the video mode matched the still shot capability - not! Video plays back like 30p instead of the 60p setting of the camera. No sound, though the live mic menu indicates sound is being picked.

Dissatisfied!!! I've been an Olympus fan for over 10 years. WAS looking forward to a this camera to capture amazing video.

I've been using this body for 3 years now and I must say it's a very pleasant camera to use. I've been a long time Olympus user (E-500, E-620, E-5, EM-10) and this body is very performant. The body itself is very compact and rugged. I put it under pressure during my Iceland winter trip this past february, and got it regularly very wet with waves and waterfalls. It performed very well all along. The buttons can be difficult to find and press with gloves, but that means the body is compact enough to enjoy carrying along all day. I find it a good match for the PRO lenses I have (12-40, 7-14 and 40-150). The image quality is very good also. Shooting RAW lets me recuperate enough detail in the highlights and shadows. I would like a bit more megapixels, but I was still able to print a 30x40'' canvas that looks very nice. In summary, this is a camera I strongly recommend for anyone that wants not only to get great results, but also wants to enjoy shooting beautiful images.

Great performing camera

I needed a lighter and smaller camera than my Canon 5D MKll. I was getting tied of lugging my rig while trying to hike, even with my cotton carrier.  After looking at various reviews and going between the Olympus and the small Canon it looked like my best choice was the Olympus (even though it has a smaller sensor). Great size, great pictures. My last few photo shoots I've left my Canon at home. Since I rarely print larger than 8X10 there hasn't been much difference in quality so far. It will be interesting to compare the two after the 2019 Desert Flower Bloom shoot coming up. I will use both cameras for a better comparison.

Great camera system

This is my first "real" camera. I had originally decided I was going to get a DSLR, because that's what gets the best images, otherwise people wouldn't use them as much. The issue I had was as a hiker and wilderness canoeist, they are a bit big for my liking. The more research I did the more I settled on mirrorless. This camera is way more capable than what I will ever want, but the combination of size, weather sealing, and IBIS, the kit price was too good to pass up. I was very concerned about all the confusing options and customization that can be done, thinking I may have to return because I can't figure out how to work it. I'm a beginner, I was able to learn the original settings very easily, as I grow with it I can get into the deeper stuff, but it delivers great image quality, consistent 1.3" handheld shots, carried it in drizzle and wet snow for three days, never warmer than 40 deg. and it always worked. So much fun, and that's what matters!

First "Real" Camera

I bought this for a friend who is returning to photography for the first time since she used to develop film.  She loved the features of my EM1 (so do I!).  This is a LOT of camera for the price.

Perfect Intro Camera

My OM-D EM5 MKII stopped working after 36 months of light use. The issue appears to be a malfunctioning ON/OFF switch. The camera is always on....regardless of the position of the ON/OFF switch... and can only be turned off by removing the battery. I took really good care of the camera and it's not because of abuse or any type of mis-treatment. I'm now faced with paying the $200 to have the camera repaired by Olympus so that I can sell it. My research indicates that many, many people have the same issue with their EM5 MKII, so I can only assume that Olympus is aware of a defect in their camera. I wish they would own the issue and fix it without charge, but oh well. I'm annoyed enough about the whole thing that I'm toying around with selling all my Oly gear and getting back into my old trusty Canon stuff. Never had an issue with them. Good luck.

Good camera except for one problem

This camera is perfect balance between the EM-1 and EM-10 series. I used to be a mid-range DSLR owner and decided to make the switch in order to make my gear more portable. The quality has beyond surpassed my previous camera. The image stabilization is my favorite feature, since it lets you go about one to two stops higher when shooting in low light conditions! Overall and excellent, well-constructed, and feature filled camera!

Quality, durability, and portability

I have used this camera for over two years now and still love it. The Image Stabilization is a must for me because I am not always the best at holding still. Love the size. Easy to pack. This is my go to travel camera.
