Used Nikon NIKKOR Z DX 12-28mm f/3.5-5.6 PZ VR Lens OB

The use case that prompted this purchase was the desire for the depth of field from a short focal length for close-ups of flowers when a tripod was inappropriate. I was pleased, but look at the photos and you be the judge. My only quibble is no digital readout of focal length, no problem that into is included in the photo's meta-data.  Only drawback, now I want a full frame zoom of similar focal length for my Nikon Zf. Included photos were shot at 12 mm and f/4 at or near minimum focus distance.

Good for video, but not really a big help for photography.

Nikor Z DX 12-28 PZ VR lens

I've only had the lens a few hours, so I still need to put it through its paces.  I did have some initial thoughts I'd like to share for those considering purchasing this.

What I like: small size, light weight, internal zoom, ultra-wide to normal focal range
What I don't like: plastic mount (I knew it had this type of mount)

I am pleasantly surprised by the "power zoom".  I was afraid it might zoom very clumsily, but it does so quickly, smoothly, and quietly.  Apparently you can slow down the zoom speed for slower video transitions.  I'm using it for still photography, though, so I'll keep this setting as is.  This lens feels like a normal (non-power),  internal zoom.  Nikon did a great job with this lens!
