Questions & Answers

Shopper : Is it compatible to Canon VIXIA HF R30 as well?JOHN M : It fit perfectly on my Vixia HF M40.YUNITA H : I bought this product to use with my Canon VIXIA HF11. It fits nice and snug to the mini hotshoe on my camera. Very well build and low profile. Not sure if it works with VIXIA HF R30. But I'm assuming it should since it's a VIXIA family. And the fact that Canon likes to put a no standard shoe size (mini shoe) on their line of video camera. Dunno why.SCOTT H : No, the R30 does not have an accessory shoe.ZACHARY P : It is not compatible with the HF R30. The adapter requires the mini accessory shoe, and the HF R30 doesn't have any accessory shoe.MARK O : Yes, you can use this adapter on the Canon RF30.. The "Mini Advanced Shoe" is the same on all of the Canon camcorders that come with it.BARRY L : I really didn't like this Universal Shoe Adapter for the Canon VIXIA HF R30 camcorder. It was too low profile in the lower part (the part that connects to the camcorder). What I did find that worked wonderfully well is the Pearstone CSA-II Shoe Adapter (designed for Canon camcorders..priced at $19.95). It worked so well, in fact, we ordered a dozen.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?WILLIAM C S : My Canon VIXIA HFS 20 required this adapter to mount a Rode microphone.

Small accessory with big use!

I bought this adapter for my Canon HF 11. The adapter fit nice and snug on my mini hot shoe. Very well build, sturdy, and made from metal (not plastic like some other adapter) and low profile, so my camera doesn't get top heavy. I use it to mount my wireless receiver for my audio. Overall, I love the fact that this adapter is low profile.

makes de canon mini shoe usable!!!

This small accesory, seems expensive, but it opens a wide variety of accesories to be used in these cameras, so it is worth it. For me, it was a little bit difficult to install (Canon HFS10) I had to remove the cover from the camera, but once done, I do not need to remove it and works great for an in camera microphone or light.

Worked perfect and shipped fast.

I have the Canon Vixia HF s100 and wanted to upgrade the mic. I bought the Rode video mic (and it sounds great) from [...] I pointed me to sights to buy the adapter and Adorama had the best price. All in all, it's a good buy to upgrade your audio without having to buy an expensive mic system.

Just whjat I needed

I got this device only because I had to have it. It was overpriced, Canon should have included this with cam. It does work well.

Does The Job

I used this item for my Canon HG20. It does the job but I thought it a bit pricey for what it does. Not the easiest thing to adjust.

Leads by virtue of being the only option

This seems to be the only adapter from Canon's goofy MAS to a standard shoe. It's overpriced for what you get, and the plastic spacers deform/warp over time, so I find that I need to periodically add another one so that the mic can be tightened appropriately to face forward without swinging loose. Not sure what I'll do when I work through all the spacers.

Great product

This item was necessary to use other universal accessories. It's light weight and well made also not bulky.

Functions Excellent

It works perfect, though it's a little pricey. The mini-shotgun microphone Canon makes for its Vixia cameras that connects with its "Mini Advanced Shoe" is good but I think most people would rather just have a standard "cold shoe" on their camera so they can use a regular microphone, wireless microphone receiver or a light that they probably already own. The adapter functions perfectly, though it does stick out from the top of camera some. It's good to see it's made of metal and not plastic. I keep in on the camera all the time.

Finally something that isn't plastic

Yes, this is a little pricey for a simple adapter that you could argue you shouldn't need because of canon design but what's done is done. It is real metal. Something you don't see very often these days. It fits in to the mini shoe with no problems on my HF11. It comes with thin spacers so you can tighten fully and have you mic facing forward. No problems going hand held with a Rode videomic.

Doesn't work well with HFS10/HFS100

This will not clear the sliding cover on the HFS10/HFS100 without disassmebly. As a result you must disassble/reassemble the unit every time you use it. Since it is basically some spacers on a stud it is not difficult to do, just a bit of a pain. It works fine other than that. I believe it wpuld be possible to sand a flat on the thick plastic spacer to provide the needed clearance, but I haven't tried it yet.
