Good little backup drive

Nice little compact portable hard drive. Desigh is nice but not that comfortable to hold. Very angular edges. Reliability over design is most important to me. I would recommend this for a client hand-off drive. Time will tell reliability for a backup.

Nice mobile drive

I like the size and weight of this drive. It is performing well. The only thing that bothered me is the sharp edges and corners. I used a small fine file and lightly knocked the sharpness off of each edge. That is not a deal breaker and I would purchase it again if I needed another small portable drive.

Couldn't be easier!

As an owner of another LaCie product, I'm familiar with this company's ability to deliver great product. I was eyeing this particular drive to store specific items, just couldn't decide wether or not to purchase another "big boy" drive like the one I already own. I'm glad I made this purchase. I know people have written reviews about the look of it, which is great, but I'm more interested in performance. This has both. Easy set up, and so far so good. If it's anything like the one I already own, I'm good to go.

Not great

Drive was difficult to format. Had to find an old OS to get it to work. The drivers I got from Lacie customer support didn’t work... eventually got it wotked out, but I wouldn’t get another one of these.

Sweet HD But...

Lacie is a well known name used by professional businesses. I love the beautiful design, and fast retrieval of my photos. The only thing I don't like is that the drive is very slippery. Hold on tightly, and you'll be fine!

design, looks, reliability... 5 stars!

This is a speedy backup solution. Since my Mac mini has USB3 and a 500GB SSD this LaCie Porsche'9220 gets my highest recommendation. Mine sits under an Apple Display so style is another factor. For my Mac, this product is a perfect size as well as being fast, quiet and easy to use. It's super portable if you are on the go. I've been a LaCie user since the days of the SCSI connection; always 5 stars.

Solid drive

The most notable feature about these drives is not their typical performance; it's their thick, dark, rectangular brushed aluminum shell. I intend to replace the internal drives with SSD's in time.

Fast portable drive

I got this drive because I somehow corrupted my iMovie library on my seagate drive. I had to move all my actual work photos over (I'm a wedding photographer who dabbles in vlogging) and have since been working solely off of this drive. I'm using this with a 2009 MacBook Pro and had been seriously thinking of upgrading because of how slow the editing process had become. But since switching to this drive both Lightroom and iMovie have become faster and easier to work with, even with large file sizes. I'll still eventually upgrade but this has helped for now. This drive is quite solid and heavy for its size, and not in a bad way. I highly recommend it!

The LaCie's 1TB Porsche Designed Portable Hard Drive is a small, high-capacity, high-speed external portable hard drive with a sophisticated, bold look and a thick, protective 3mm aluminum-casing. This drive can store a maximum capacity of 1TB and, using the USB 3.0 interface, can transfer that data at up to 5Gbps. To note, while Mac OS X doesn't natively support USB 3.0, you can add USB 3.0 to your Mac computer by installing LaCie's USB 3.0 Mac driver and a LaCie USB 3.0 computer card.
