When I needed to get a replacement for my consumer grade tripod, I decided I would try and find a complete tripod (legs and head) that had good reviews and that did not break the bank. This tripod had good reviews, had good specs -- configurable, could go low to the ground, could hold 22 lbs, was built sturdy, etc., so I decided to give it a go.I am very pleased with this purchase. Not only is it better than I expected -- action of the panhead is smooth and the construction is top notch -- but it was a great price [$] to my door. Can't beat that.Because of its load bearing rating I suppose it had to be fairly large and sturdy, and that means a bit weighty. But hey - that is what I chose -- a large sturdy tripod. This one won't get blown over, that's for sure. Its size and weight makes it a little cumbersome, especially when lugging a backpack full of gear. The shoulder strap does make carrying it easier though. One gripe I have is that neither the legs nor the head has even one spirit level.Would I recommend this tripod -- in a heartbeat. It leaves more money in my pocket for things like good glass.

Very good tripod. solid feeling, good balance, and smooth movements. The legs can be set at different angles which definitely comes in handy. I do wish it had levels on it though.

There are fancier tripod makers out there, yeah, and you may want a certain name on your tripod legs, but the Vanguard Tracker 4 is the best tripod I've ever owned, and it's 4 or 5 times less expensive than its peers. I've completely abused mine in mountains, trails, forests, zoos, cities, etc., and you're hardly able to see a scratch on it. All the bearings and adjustment knobs are still in perfect shape. It's been heavily used with an 8 pound medium format camera for over a year, and the thing is no worse for the wear. It's very stable, and if you don't like the pan head you can attach a ball head of whichever make you like. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed. It's a shame Vanguard doesn't promote itself more, because this is a fantastic product.

This is a great tripod. I've benn looking for a video tripod with fluid head for smooth pans and tilts. This is snooth in all directions. Great for video. The center post comes out and can be inserted under the tripod for pohtographing documents. It's very veratile and has a pro feel. I have looked for ever to find a tripod like this. And the price is a bargain compared to high end tripods. You will not be disapointed. Sturdy, adjustable, nice movement, overall simply great.

Absolutely excellent!! Best I've seen in this price range. Rock solid, no wiggles after adjustments and verrrry smooth. Heavily made with extra touches you usually don't find at this price range. instead of the video pin on the quck release plate being the spring loaded one type fits all, you can remove it from the bottom screw so you don't scratch up the bottom of your cameras (a small but very nice touch). Bought this for my Mamiya RZ67 and I would definitely recommend it, a 10 out of 10!

MOST IMPORTANT IT IS STURDY. WHEN YOU USE EXPENSE EQUIPMENT,STRONG MATERIALS ARE NEEDED FOR THE STABLITY.EASY QUICK RELEASE PLATE WITH EXTRA LOCK. HEIGHT IS GOOD AND MOVES SMOOTHLY. HAS A STABLIZER HOOK,LEGS A EXTENDABLE FOR LOW SHOTS AND THE PRICE IS RIGHT. GET ONE,TRUST ME, I LOOK HARD BEFORE MAKING A DECISON WHAT I WILL PUT MY D300 AND 2.8 LENSES ON.

The Vanguard tracker Tripod offers maximum stability for the outdoor photographer or spotter. It has a three way multi-adjustable head with a dual locking quick shoe release system. The fluid head offers its user a conical bearing locking system that allows for 360° rotation on the vertical and horizontal planes.
It offers 32mm tubular legs that are extremely stable and more lightweight than most tripods on the market. The legs can also be adjusted to three different angles to facilitate use on uneven ground or low angle shooting. The column is easily reversed for macro or copy work. The hexagon center column also offers additional security for heavy equipment. This unique series provides the best of both worlds when it comes to features and value.
