Shopper : Headline says 1TB, Tech Specs say 10TB.. which is it?JEFFREY H : Oh how I wish it was 10TB for $70. Alas it is only 1TBLEE M : ...based on what we know about current 2.5 inch hard drive storage size limits, the safe money is on 1TB.PHIL M : 1 TB. I think it's a typo.KEVIN G : 1TBDUSTIN P : It's 1.0 tb. EMMA M : Definitely 1TB.DAVID M : 1TBSCOTT B : it's terrific. but it's one TB, not 10.JAMES C : 1 TBANDREW R : The "10TB" appears to be a typo. This unit should be 1TB.
ernesto g : i have an apple airport extreme router can i connect this directly to that router and use it for back ups over the wifi and tranfering music and pictures and so on??PAUL L : Ernie, I would doubt it, since the drive would need to be recognized over wi-fi. For that it would need to be wi-fi capable, having its own IP address.ANDREW R : This drive is NTFS formatted for use with Windows (XP, Vista, 7, 8, etc.). I believe that it would need to be reformatted to FAT16/FAT32 (or MAC OS EXT if using a Mac) before you could connect it to an Airport Extreme base station. You should be able to use this drive attached to an Airport once it's been properly formatted. If you're using Time Machine for backups, Time Machine can’t back up to an external disk connected to an AirPort Extreme so this drive would need to be directly connected to the computer you're backing up.
Shopper : What's the drive's RPM?DAVID M : I can't find the specs. With USB, it may not matter...JAMES C : This is a USB drive. You only get transfer rates not spin speeds. USB 3 being the fastest but drive is backward compatible to USB 2.ANDREW R : Unfortunately the manufacturer does not specify.

Compact, Convenient

This does everything I thought it would do and has a small size that is convenient and easy to transport. I do not have USB 3 in the computer I am using, yet the speed of transfer is excellent through USB 2. I have had many WD external drives and all are still working fine after many years. I highly rate it.

A Must-Have

The perfect back-up drive for your laptop to safeguard your data, your photos etc. It is quite small and can hold lots of data. It is highly recommended, especially if you take your laptop or tablet on the road. Excellent speedy service from Adorama - the perfect place to order this mini marvel of technology. If your laptop has the newer USB 3.0, the back-up speeds will be really fast.

Great addition.

I use the drive every day. It is fast, requiring no drivers, simply plug and play. The drive is about 3/4 inches thick, not bad for so much storage.

So far so good

I had the same WD drive but 500GB USB 2.0 and it worked great for years, and it is still... I purchased this one 1TB USB 3.0 and sold the older one to a friend.

Good HD, Great Price

This is a great HD if you just need some extra storage. I've had some bad luck with WD HDDs, so I don't personally use them for anything that is sensitive (e.g., daily backups). I'm using this drive as additional storage for my Wii U, and I have another one just like it being used as storage for a DIY DVR. In both of these applications, a HDD failure isn't the end of the world. I can re-download games on the Wii U, and if a show is gone on the DVR, it's not that bad. I would never use this drive (or any WD HDDs) to hold backups or primary media (e.g., iTunes library). For those applications, I always go with Seagate drives. YMMV, but I've had better reliability with those drives. However, in all cases where a WD HDD has failed, WD has been very fast and responsive in replacing the drive (if it's under warranty, which mine all were).

Great product

It does exactly what it's supposed to. Very affordable and provides more than enough space. I couldn't ask for a better hard drive for the price.
