This does everything I thought it would do and has a small size that is convenient and easy to transport. I do not have USB 3 in the computer I am using, yet the speed of transfer is excellent through USB 2. I have had many WD external drives and all are still working fine after many years. I highly rate it.

The perfect back-up drive for your laptop to safeguard your data, your photos etc. It is quite small and can hold lots of data. It is highly recommended, especially if you take your laptop or tablet on the road. Excellent speedy service from Adorama - the perfect place to order this mini marvel of technology. If your laptop has the newer USB 3.0, the back-up speeds will be really fast.

I use the drive every day. It is fast, requiring no drivers, simply plug and play. The drive is about 3/4 inches thick, not bad for so much storage.

I had the same WD drive but 500GB USB 2.0 and it worked great for years, and it is still... I purchased this one 1TB USB 3.0 and sold the older one to a friend.

This is a great HD if you just need some extra storage. I've had some bad luck with WD HDDs, so I don't personally use them for anything that is sensitive (e.g., daily backups). I'm using this drive as additional storage for my Wii U, and I have another one just like it being used as storage for a DIY DVR. In both of these applications, a HDD failure isn't the end of the world. I can re-download games on the Wii U, and if a show is gone on the DVR, it's not that bad. I would never use this drive (or any WD HDDs) to hold backups or primary media (e.g., iTunes library). For those applications, I always go with Seagate drives. YMMV, but I've had better reliability with those drives. However, in all cases where a WD HDD has failed, WD has been very fast and responsive in replacing the drive (if it's under warranty, which mine all were).

I'm using this external drive as a backup device. Works flawlessly and contains a lot of storage space. Compact and quiet, does the job admirably. No cons come to mind.

It does exactly what it's supposed to. Very affordable and provides more than enough space. I couldn't ask for a better hard drive for the price.
