I have mixed reviews about this product. On the one hand, it?s an excellent multi purpose modifier which is versatile and easy to set up. That being said, it?s a real pain trying to break it down for packing. There are no instructions on how to break it down. There?s no release latch and if you put too much force you can bend or break the rods. There you have it

I recently puchased the Aputure LS C300D LED Light. I also purchased the compatible Aputure Light Dome II. The set up for the Light Dome II is both arduous and time consuming. I researched other softboxes that would be much less difficult and time consuming to set yup. The Westcott Octa XXL Rapid Box is as easy as opening an umbrella and it fits on the Aputure light.

The only reason I deducted one star is that the bowens mount rotates and that makes it more complicated to attach to the light source, because the mount keeps moving. The quality of this diffuser is outstanding. I love it.

Seem well built, easy to setup and break down. Easy to transport around with included bag. Created wonderful lighting. I only gave it four stars because, I don’t like how the mount spins (Bowen’s mount) when trying to mount to strive & for the cost, they couldn’t just include the beauty dish plate??

This Rapid Box provides great light, as you would expect from a 48" octi. Goes up like a dream. Disassembly is equally easy, once you know what to look for. The shaft doesn't lock like a regular umbrella. Instead, two rings lock against one another. I think you are supposed to give one a 1/4 turn, but I didn't and had no problems. Using a small screwdriver, you insert the tool between the two rings, twist slightly and they separate very easily. Then it folds like any umbrella. I was getting very frustrated when trying to close until I realized how the mechanism works. Then, no problems.

The Westcott 48" Rapid Box Octa XXL is out of this world when it comes to great light. I love the collapsible design and ease of set-up. Nothing used to be more frustrating than dealing with rods fitting into tiny holes. This modifier is large enough to do big groups, yet small enough to not take up a tremendous amount of room. The only complaint I have, and it's a tiny one, is for someone unfamiliar with how the Rapid Box works, I had a little trouble figuring out how to collapse it. I kept looking for a button to push, like an umbrella, but finally figured out it's a gentle tug and it slides down the shaft with ease. Great product, love it!

This is the first soft box I have ever purchased. I really like the ease of setting up and it appears to be great quality. There is soo much gear out there that it is hard to make choices sometimes. Got this for outside use because I needed something softer as my 16 to 28 inch beauty dishes were just a bit to harsh. This offered my client some simply wonderful, soft photos in full sun and shade outside this past fall. Used with XPLOR 600.

I purchased this soft box after watching many videos of other photographers. I've already gotten great results out of the soft box and the explore 600 flash. My only concern was the mounting bracket that connects to the flash unit came lose and fell off. Adorama was more than willing to exchange it.

Truly amazing box.. I use mine with the Xplor 600 TTL. 1 compliment, I just wish it came with the metal Beauty Dish attachment. Other then that, fast setup for most jobs.

Larger softboxes have always been a problem for me. First, too difficult to assemble. Second, too difficult to store. These impediments are eliminated by the pop up design. Also, the quality of workmanship is extraordinarily good.
