Gabby S : Will this Converter accept Stereo View Slides?
I have Kodachrome II Stereo Transparencies "slides" that required a Kodaslide Stereo Viewer II to view. It basically made the images look 3D.
I'd like to convert them to view on my computer.
Thanks.FELIX G M : Hi Gabby,
So far I've only scanned normal slides and negatives, for which this device includes two dedicated trays. There's no auto advance mechanism, so you can scan whatever fits in the slot, as long as the area you want to scan is no bigger than the 35mm format (24mm x 36mm)
I'm not familiar with the real size of film nor the mounting format of the kodak stereo slides, so I don't know if there's enough clearance for them. The slot in the Wolverine is 5.5mm thin x 65mm wide. So if the mounting frame of the slides is less than that, you should have no problem with scanning, providing of course, that the slides aren't bigger than (24mm x 36mm) and that the mountig position is centered in relation to the frame. Otherwise, you won't be able to scan the whole image. The only option in this case would be to unmount the slides and put them in the dedicated trays.
For the stereo effect, you'd need to scan both slides as separate files and then join them with Photoshop or some other software with stereo capabilities to make them viewable with 3D glasses.
Hope this helps :)ALONSO L : I suppose it might be be able to convert the 3D analog slide to a computer file if the 3D slide's size is the same as the size of a regular 2D slide, but I do not think it will convert the 3D effect to a 2D one, since what you are doing is taking a picture of your slide.RALPH B : Yes, it will work just fine but it requires extensive rework of the two slide holders/trays.
I converted one to accommodate Stereo Realist slides in cardboard mounts and the other for slides mounted between glass with aluminum frames (much thicker).
I do not know what Kodak stereo slides look like but since they also use 35 mm film, you should be able to adapt the trays...it's just a fair amount of work and requires tools to carve out the plastic trays so they will accommodate your slides.
RHBYVONNE G : Due to circumstances beyond my control -- I have been unable to use my Wolverine F2D14 yet. (I don't even know what Stereo Transparencies are, sorry.)
Michael G : Does the unit copy the full frame 35mm neg or slide?ALONSO L : Yes, it does. The problem is that the promise 14 megapixel images, but they are not even five.TOM S : Hello again Michael, I just measured the openings of the slide tray and the neg tray.
Slide tray = 23.05mm x 34.75mm
neg tray = 23.55mm x 35.56 mm
Measurements of a typical slide holder (Kodak paper carrier) = 23.89mm x 34.99mm
Again, it is very close but not quite 100%
Hope this helps, too.
Cheers, Tom
Shopper : Does the item come with the negative & slide trays? Thank you.ALONSO L : yes it does, but I returned this item because it advertices 14 megapixel files, but it only produce 1.7 megapixels.TOM S : Yes, it comes with 1 neg tray (holds up to a strip of 6 frames) and 1 slide tray (holds up to four slides). Does not include SD memory card, but internal memory holds about a dozen files. I think it's a good "bang for the buck".ANDREW N : YesROBERT K : Yes it does have both trays and the slide tray works great, I am very happy with it. Also what I like is that is not tied to the computer, I can take it anywhere. I use a SanDisk card reader on my computer to read the SD card to my hard drive. I am doing over a 1000 slides and with the SD card I also have a back-up.
I had the Ion slide copier which uses software and it kept locking up my computer so I threw it in the trash.
