Comments about Nikon Nikon 8 x 42 Monarch, Water Proof & Rubber Armored Roof Prism Binocular with 6.3 Degree Angle of View, U.S.A:
These binoculars are an excellent value. Dollar-for-dollar it is tough to do better than the Nikon Monarch binocular. It is possible to spend a great deal more and not do as well.An attractive price [...] adds to the value for the purchase. Adorama and Nikon make it possible for a casual birder to enjoy the hobby, without dropping hundreds more.

Comments about Nikon Nikon 8 x 42 Monarch, Water Proof & Rubber Armored Roof Prism Binocular with 6.3 Degree Angle of View, U.S.A:
These binoculars are the perfect size, big enough to be bright and sharp yet still small enough to be light and easy to carry. I also own an old pair of 8X50 that are twice as heavy and not as sharp and bright and 25X100 which are way heavy and very difficult to use even on a tripod, these are brighter but no that much more.
The small amount of chromatic aberration (CA) on these binoculars does not bother me so no point deduction here (my other binoculars have worse CA). OK to use with or without my glasses on.

Well worth the long wait. Although one CAN spend far more -- 4x for the top Nikon product, or up to 6x for a fancy Zeiss, Leitz, or Leica pair -- it's not clear what additional desirable features would be had.
