My purpose was to aid manual focusing for macro, tele, AI lenses, etc., and it does noticeably help. Quality of construction and optics is excellent. I wear eyeglasses and do not intend to use it with an eyecup. It brings the already great viewfinder image on a D700 to perhaps very slightly larger or nearly identical as compared to a 1971 film Nikon F (my gold standard) -- based on viewing F and D700, each with its 85/1.8, first viewing separately, then together with one on each eye! (as scientific as I intend to get) Most eyeglass wearers will likely need to shift a bit to see corners (which I also experience on a Nikon F) and to see the bottom display - a personal preference as to whether that's annoying or not, but it's fine for me and I may just always keep it on. I wish Nikon had provided a small hard case to keep it or the regular eyepiece safely at hand or attached to the camera strap in case a quick change is wanted. Very cool gadget - I'm quite satisfied with it.

I got the magnifying eyepiece to improve the viewfinder image. It (apparently) has a side benefit. It appears that the diopter adjustment range is higher ... which got my dominant eye within the focus range. Works well. Do yourself a favor and get the DK-19 eyecup to go with it.

It actually makes a difference. It restores my D1X's smallish viewfinder to more traditional Nikon standards. Works beautifully along with a DK19 rubber eyecup.

Does the job and now do not have to shift back and forth with glasses, what a pain that was... :-)

I got a chance to see through one of these in someone else's D700 & saw immediately the benefit. I ordered one & put it on mine. It remains & will remain on it. It makes the already large viewfinder larger & framing is even easier now.

I especially like the fact that my face now is a little away from the camera body - it;s just enough so that my cheek does not hit the back lcd screen.

I'm glad I made this addition to my D700. I see no reason to complain about anything. Excellent.

I installed this product to give me a little bigger perspective in the view finder. It works great. It makes all of the icons easier and faster to read which is very important in sports shooting.
