Plugs into the usb connection, has a good length of cable, would be nice if could get a remote that was wireless, but this is great to stop any shake while in macro.

Use anytime to eliminate camera vibration when shooting landscapes, macro, portraits and even HDR images — especially using a tripod to remove camera shakes during long exposures or capturing multiple images.
Feels very solid in your hand, a natural fit.
I keep mine in my camera bag for whenever and whatever shots I want...

Comments about Olympus Olympus RM-UC1 Remote Cable Release for Select Digital Cameras:
I have been using the camera's timer and a tripod to prevent the camera from moving when taking closeup and bracketed shots for HDRI. Even using a tripod the camera can move slightly when the shutter button is pressed. Using the cable release takes care of the problem.

Comments about Olympus Olympus RM-UC1 Remote Cable Release for Select Digital Cameras:
. . .I'd expect a better executed product. You do the 1/2 push, just like a regular shutter release, to focus and set exposure. But trying to hold the 1/2 push while recomposing the shot can be difficult in shooting situations like macro shots close to the ground. These situations (and others you can imagine) are the reason you're buying this item. And what happens is, you end up either pressing or releasing the 1/2 press before you intend to, and have to start all over. Since this is all software driven, they could have done something like: one press to focus and meter, a second press to take the shot.
So, is it useful, yes. Is it adequate, yes. Is it great, no.
