Comments about Adorama Flashpoint Professional Battery Grip for the Nikon D300/D700 Digital SLR Cameras:

Purchase this grip 9-2009.
Feels great on the D700 and performed well for the money, BUT (BIG BUT)
Within 2 weeks a small screw fell out but grip still performed well.
A few months after buying the grip,I purchased a ball head and L bracket for my D700 - and was unable to open the battery compartment with the L bracket in place. Very inconvenient since I need an allen wrench to remove the L bracket.
Today 2-4-2011, I installed a fresh camera battery and the inside piece that holds the battery just cracked.
I wish I had spent the original money on the Nikon grip. I would still have it I am sure.

Comments about Adorama Flashpoint Professional Battery Grip for the Nikon D300/D700 Digital SLR Cameras:

I purchased this to add a little more battery life to the camera and also to have the shutter button where I need it when I orient it for portraits. The construction feels a bit cheap but at a fraction of the price of the Nikon, it is a good investment. I have used it on a couple of assignments and so far no complaints. Seriously, for the price, you can't beat it.

Comments about Adorama Flashpoint Professional Battery Grip for the Nikon D300/D700 Digital SLR Cameras:

I thought this was my camera at first, but then I realized the grip was shorting out during shooting. The symptoms are that the controls stop working for 2 - 3 seconds and the LCD turns off and flashes the low battery indicator. Tried with EN-EL3e tray and NiMH tray. Same result. Torquing grip slightly with hand or moving camera around normally causes short.

Nice little grip for the money. The only drawback is the second battery is in the camera vs in the grip, hence you must REMOVE the grip to charge 2nd battery....but in only takes 10 sec to do it!!

Comments about Adorama Flashpoint Professional Battery Grip for the Nikon D300/D700 Digital SLR Cameras:

I bought this as an alternative to the MB-D10 strictly because it was so much cheaper. The MB-D10 still sells for well over $200 everywhere and I could not afford it. I can only say this: you get what you pay for.

First, the good. It fits the camera well and looks good enough. The trigger button is very clicky (though this could be bad for some--keep reading.) The rubbery grip feels the same as the D700 it is attached to.

Now, the bad. The first thing I noticed with this was that the wheel that tightens it in is very cheap. It wiggles a half inch to both sides when fully tightened down and looks cheaper than cheap. I would be surprised if it lasts me more than a year. Also, I purchased the BL-3 plug to work with the bigger battery. The open end of the grip (where you install the battery) is not shaped completely correct and the BL-3 doesn't fit well. It does fit, but it takes way more force than it should.

This grip is legit as ****! I was kinda worried it was gonna be some cheap [*] but it really turned out to be sweet, its not too heavy but it has a great feel, I would recommend this grip if you are broke or would rather spend your money on something else that matters like a LENS or a strobe. No complaints so far....it makes my camera feel and look like a beast! WORD!

Comments about Adorama Flashpoint Professional Battery Grip for the Nikon D300/D700 Digital SLR Cameras:

I fail to see any cons with this grip. Granted, the others I purchased via Ebay also include an EL4 battery door, but I had enough of those lying around.

The rubber on the bottom of the grip WILL eventually bubble or peel, but compared to the ridiculous prices that Nikon charges for a battery tray, there is not reason that any D700 or D300 owner shouldn't have a couple of these!

I have a MB10 that I put on my new D300S and put this unit on my D300. I shot with it today for the first time and it worked well. What I like most about it is that the shutter button isn't as sensitive as the Nikon model which has a hair trigger.

Comments about Adorama Flashpoint Professional Battery Grip for the Nikon D300/D700 Digital SLR Cameras:

I used this on my d300 and now on my d700.Counter to what other reviews say, it CAN be used with the EN-EL4--but there's a catch: you have to swap part of the BL-3 with the included EN-EL3 holder. Here's how: you remove four screws from the BL-3 and the tray for the single EN-EL3 (they're all the same on both parts). Swap the cover part with the door lock, and voila! You've now got an EN-EL4 compatible grip! This is totally reversible if you're worried about warranty/resale. Of course you still need the [*]MH-21, but that part is still less than the money you save by purchasing this instead of the MB-D10.Contrary to popular belief, the MB-D10 is NOT a magnesium shell. It's plastic with a metal plate, just like this unit.Works great. Gives clients the impression they're getting their money's worth.

Comments about Adorama Flashpoint Professional Battery Grip for the Nikon D300/D700 Digital SLR Cameras:

Very affordable battery grip that does not add lots of weight. Can be tricky first time you try to use with tripod..but easily mastered. Use on D300S and it pushes the multi-exposures to 8 fps and can hold it there all day long. D300S battery life is already superb...but adding the additional battery in the grip really allows you to fire all day long at high speeds which is great for sport events, family gatherings or weddings. I ran out of memory with dual 16GB cards (one SD one CF in the D300S...shooting RAW plus Fine Jpeg) before I ran through the batteries. Much cheaper than Nikon grip (I'm sure its worth it to some)...but works 'good enough' for all my needs.

Comments about Adorama Flashpoint Professional Battery Grip for the Nikon D300/D700 Digital SLR Cameras:

My friend who's a full-tim pro wedding photog recommended this grip to me after I picked up a D300. He said that he'd been using this grip for a few years with no issues on his D300 and D700. I decided to give it a whirl, and I'm glad I did. The quality isn't that bad. I'm sure the Nikon one is a bit better....but what can you expect for like [$] compared to $220? Buttons are OK. Dials feel a bit cheap, but again...I saved almost $150. Works like a charm. No issues as of yet. One reviewer mentioned that his camera shut off when you removed the batteries. Mine does that too, but replacing the batteries turns the camera back on. I do not have to remove the grip.

Comments about Adorama Flashpoint Professional Battery Grip for the Nikon D300/D700 Digital SLR Cameras:

I decided to try this grip to save a little money but was disappointed in its overall performance. It felt much cheaper than my mb-d10 and the knobs had little to no resistance when turned as well as the af point selector. It would also shut the camera off when the battery was removed and the entire grip had to be disconnected to turn the camera on again. I returned this and ordered a second mb-d10. Mb-d10 works as it should.

Comments about Adorama Flashpoint Professional Battery Grip for the Nikon D300/D700 Digital SLR Cameras:

Absolutely a 'must have' as it gives you a second shutter release and a place for an extra EN-EL3e battery for those long photo sessions/trips. At a third of Nikon's price, this is a bargain. The fit is perfect as is its function. I can't find ANY faults with this product. Even though it's made of plastics (with a metal reinforced plate for the tripod socket), it's really robust and the electrical contacts appear to be gold-plated too!

If you change battery in this grip, camera immidiatly "lost" whole grip. You need to unscrew grip, screw it again, and only then camera accept its battery.

I can live with that, but after battery fully discharges in grip, something happened and grip won't see EN-El3e batteries at all.

You've got what you'd pay for. Cheap chinese piece of plastic.

The battery grip fits the camera adequately. Since I have used it for just a couple of months, I am not sure how well the battery grip will hold up under extended use. The plastic seems a bit thin, but the grip may hold up better than expected. The contacts fit the camera body well, so both the camera and the grip communicate with each other without any problems. So far this seems like good value for the money.

Comments about Adorama Flashpoint Professional Battery Grip for the Nikon D300/D700 Digital SLR Cameras:

[...] this battery grip is an excellent value. All the controls (autofocus selector and push, shutter release with half-press, AF-ON, front and rear dials) work and feel great. Comes with the carriage for EN-EL3e, as well as the AA one (hold 8). The AA carriage enables the high frame rate continuous mode. It impressed me the first time I held that button down. Really releases the potential of the D300! Careful which battery you buy though, the "Power2000" 1700mah battery I bought from Adorama was not compatible with my D300. No returns on batteries either :-(The build is solid, no loose joints or creaks. Mounts solidly to the camera. I haven't tried to 'tweak' is as other reviewers do. Why bother? You don't pull on the grip when you're shooting, why test it? The texture matches and it looks like part of the camera once installed. If you don't want to spend the money on the Nikon unit, skip eBay and buy this one!

Comments about Adorama Flashpoint Professional Battery Grip for the Nikon D300/D700 Digital SLR Cameras:

This works fine and feels solid on the D700. A few clarifications are in order: It holds one EN-EL3 battery, not two (combined with the battery in the camera, you'll have two). There is no remote. It does have aperture and shutter controls. One big caveat: Don't buy this if you want to use the EN-EL4 batteries. Bite the bullet and buy the Nikon grip for that. The battery cap that you have to buy separately to use the EN-EL4 with the Nikon grip does not fit the Flashpoint grip properly, and there does not seem to be a battery cap made for the Flashpoint grip. Bottom line: If you just want a second EN-EL3 battery or you want to run AA's, this is a great deal compared with the high cost of the Nikon grip. If you want to run the EN-EL4 batteries, go for the Nikon grip.

Comments about Adorama Flashpoint Professional Battery Grip for the Nikon D300/D700 Digital SLR Cameras:

Near As I can tell, it is nearly identical to the MB-D10. Fits the camera tightly and securely.
I wish it had a AE-L button rather than a AF-ON button..but the Nikon one doesn't have it either.

Comments about Adorama Flashpoint Professional Battery Grip for the Nikon D300/D700 Digital SLR Cameras:

Over all is an excellent bargain and alternative to the original equipment that Nikon offers.
Compared to each other I would say that this one is maybe 20% less reliable than the MB-D10 (I own that too) which also have the exact same problems but only less often. It will last you a lot, so long you'll forget where the chargers are, and the boost in power is amazing and you feel the difference right away when in CL or CH mode.
This type of camera accessories are not just some attachments with batteries but they have electronic circuitry and sophisticated connectors (gold plated) that still might not fit well al the time. As I mentioned not even Nikon is 100% good. If I can leave with it at 4-600 clicks a day (total abuse, I know) you should be OK. Do your homework and check the forums, good luck.

Comments about Adorama Flashpoint Professional Battery Grip for the Nikon D300/D700 Digital SLR Cameras:

Wonderful for the money, I have the Nikon grip on my D-700 and the Flashpoint on the D-300. All in all they are so similar it's hard to tell them apart. The Nikon grip is a bit more robust, but for [$] more. Follow the directions carefully and it will work great.

Comments about Adorama Flashpoint Professional Battery Grip for the Nikon D300/D700 Digital SLR Cameras:

I found this to be pretty useful. I would say that the best feature is that it comes with a car charger so often after I get in the car I can charge it up before I go out again. I did find it a little loose on the camera body, but I also think that could be a design flaw. The D80 support goes into the actual camera body through the battery slot. However after wrenching it on as tight as I could I found it worked pretty well. I have never seen the Nikon version so I am happy with what I got especially for the price.

Good grip for its price

Comments about Adorama Flashpoint Professional Battery Grip for the Nikon D300/D700 Digital SLR Cameras:

I am very please by this product. It doesn't feel "plasticy" and cheap as many reviews on the internet claimed. Of course the real MB-D10 is more solid and fits to camera better, but this baby works just fine and its texture matches perfectly to the body. It also fitted to camera perfectly, and D300 recognizes it as MB-d10. Just remember you are paying 1/3 of the original Nikon grip, and it's worth it.

Comments about Adorama Flashpoint Professional Battery Grip for the Nikon D300/D700 Digital SLR Cameras:

Product like Nikon BP. It does NOT come with an 8M remote - called Adorama and they said they will send one? I have no idea where this "remote" will interface!!! There does not appear to be any IR ports or windows - will it plug in somehwere? I have no idea - it will be interesting. Product is not the same one as shown on the web site with the pictures - more like the Nikon version. If you are purchasing for the remote control option as I did, you will not get it.

Just like the nikon grip

Comments about Adorama Flashpoint Professional Battery Grip for the Nikon D300/D700 Digital SLR Cameras:

I did notice that the product is different then the one on the site. The grip that I got was exactly like the Nikon grip(I got both grips). The unit has aperture, shutter controls, and AF-on just like the Nikon grip. It dose not have a 8M Remote Control and it don't hold 2 EN-EL3E Lithium-Ion Rechargeable Batteries. I believe there has been a mistake with the site itself or something. Also, the grip does have the shutter release when you push it auto focus' and when it is press down all the way it takes the picture. This unit also has a directional pad to change the af spot and the has a shutter lock. This comes really close to the Nikon grip the only one thing I see that when its mounted to the camera the mount is not 100% snug but its really close. I do recommend this product because its a fraction of the cost and it works like it should.

Get the Nikon grip

Comments about Adorama Flashpoint Professional Battery Grip for the Nikon D300/D700 Digital SLR Cameras:

I bought this off of recommendation from a sales rep, and after I got it I really didn't like it much. It works as expected, but there are no aperture or shutter controls. Neither is there shutter lock or AF-On. It's just a shutter release. The cool thing it does have is a wireless shutter release. So if you're doing landscape stuff and have your shot composed and need a remote. It's great. For anything else. It could become a burden.
