This was my best purchase. 1.3 crop factor may put off some but for me it works better than the 1.6 crop factor by being a bit wider. Additionally this baby just performs, producing images with low noise levels and consistent focus. I only keep my 5DMK2 for its wide angle, full-frame capability and HD video (when used) because it can not touch the 1DMK3 in performance. In low-light situations my 5DMK2 hunts but the 1DMK3 shoots and that consistently. I got a refurb and I am loving it. Beware, make sure you read the manual and go to photography forums unless you are a pro, otherwise the learning curve can be steep.

The only difference between the Refurbished and new camera is the price. Thanks ADORAMA

Comments about Canon Canon EOS-1D MARK-III Digital SLR Camera with 10.1 Megapixel - Refurbished by Canon U.S.A.:
I purchased this Canon 1D Mk3 as a second body. It finally arrived this afternoon through UPS. Honestly, I cannot tell whether this body has been used before because it looks pristine to me.
I placed the battery on the charger immediately and waited impatiently until the battery was finally fully charged. I plugged the battery and the memory card in, made some changes to the settings, and clicked the shutter button. I was so eager to see the IQ of this camera. Unfortunately, I then got the following much dreaded message on the LCD screen:
Err 99 Shooting is not possible. Turn the power switch to and again or re-install the battery.
I tried to switch the power off and on as "instructed", and I even tried to reinstall the battery to no avail. I looked at the manual and finally resorted to the Internet and found that Canon USA has already issued a free repair to address the very problem.
You probably cannot image how disappointed I was. Although I have only waited nine days for this 1D3 to arrive, it actually felt much longer than that. What can I say?

I require the quick fps of the 1D mk iii, the resolution is fantastic, an absolute bonus. I see no difference between the Canon refurbished camera I received and a brand new one, congratulations to Adorama, the price[...] can't be faulted.
my daughter, first time using the camera

Comments about Canon Canon EOS-1D MARK-III Digital SLR Camera with 10.1 Megapixel - Refurbished by Canon U.S.A.:
This is the ultimate DSLR. I've owned many cameras and there is absolutely nothing on the market that compares to the EOS 1D Mark III.
First, this thing is built like a tank. It's confidence inspiring. It's also nice to know you can get caught in a down pour outside and not have to worry about your camera getting fried.
The image quality is absolutely amazing. Even at maximum ISO (H - 6400) the 1D still takes amazing pictures. Of course it really shines at much lower ISO settings, but I was really amazed at a concert shoot how well it performed at high ISO.
The battery life is nothing short of amazing. You can go an entire weekend shooting and not even put a dent in the battery life. I've shot over 2000 images on one charge using IS, viewing images on the LCD and I still had 75% battery life!
I was reluctant to buy a refurbished camera at first. But I knew that Admorama would take it back if I was not pleased. Am I ever glad I did purchase a refurb! It is every bit as good as new, it comes packaged with all accessories sealed from the factory and there's not a mark on it. You could not tell this was not a new camera by looking at it or shooting with it. I *highly* recommend Adorama's factory reburb Canon cameras at this point.

I will buy again the refurb from canon. I do not have any issue with this camera. Looks like a brand new camera. It will come with a white box.

This unit was purchased as a backup to my other. Other than the box it came in I could tell no difference between the two. I'm very pleased with this unit and will buy a refurbished unit again.

Comments about Canon Canon EOS-1D MARK-III Digital SLR Camera with 10.1 Megapixel - Refurbished by Canon U.S.A.:
I ordered this refurb. unit from Adorama. Camera arrived as promised. Camera looked perfect, but:Had one spot with pixel deffects. Easy to find, make a shot with the bodycap on zoom in and look for any colors on this absolutly black picture. I found red pixels. (From a factory refurb unit this is a shame for Canon especially considering it's price [$]).The firmware on this camera was 1.1.3 which is not the newest (1.2.3) and still know to have AF problems with tele lenses and bright background. The SN# according to Canon's website, was between the problematic range: "If the serial number on the bottom of the camera is between 501001 and 546561, it could be affected by the AF mirror adjustment problem..." who knows if that mirror was replaced at refurbishing if they din't correct a pixel error? These 2 reasons were the cause of the so many returns and refurbishings of the mark III's. (Great work Canon in your refurbishings!) By the way I like to mention here that I had a 40D brand new with the same pixel problems.I also had a 5D die on me after 500 shot diagnozed with controll panel problem...This was my 6th digital canon and the last 4 had problems within this year. I think Canon seems unreliable, has low quality controll. I have never had so many problems with Nikon, although I owned several. Good luck everybody hope this helps!
