So far, so good.. haven't used it much yet. Seems like I'll need to read the book a bit before really playing w/it. Batteries seem to run a short life.. as I've had to replace them already & haven't been playing w/ the camera, so we'll see. Possibly my kids are playing w/ it w/o my knowledge..

The Canon A1000 Powershot is the perfect small camera to go along with bigger SLR cameras that take all sorts of lenses and equipment. The camera can hold its own in bright and cloudy light conditions, great mode and scene choices, monitor is clear, and best of all it has a view finder. For making cards of flowers and gardens , it is a gem , the resolution of large size shots works well with any editing software.
The camera is one of my Best Pals.

I wanted a pocket size carry around that had good build quality and could take good snapshots in a variety of lighting.I have exclusively Canon pro gear, so naturally, I stuck with Canon on this one. The Digic III is a really nice processor, same as the big boy cameras had a couple years ago. The optical stabilization works well, gives about 2 stops more speed, without kicking the ISO thru the roof, as cheaper cameras do, and avoid the resulting noisy pix that would produce.Feels good in the hand, but not too big. Slips in my pocket nicely. I like the big mode dial on top, but especially the mode display on the LCD as you rotate it. Don't even have to look at the dial itself.Optical finder is real handy for extreme sunlight shots, where the LCD is hard to see.Don't have to think much either, just spin the dial to match your shooting subject and fire away.I wish the LCD was just a bit larger and sharper, but thats it's only real weakness, just remember this is just a point/shoot camera.For under[$]what more can you want? I like it.

great camera for the $$$, just wish they made a hard sided case for it.
