Bought this kit from [...] several days before a 3 week trip to New Zealand -- best decision I made other than to take that trip!I love this camera's plethora of settings available on the top control dial: "No Flash" is my default setting, as I prefer the less-obtrusive shooting and longer battery life. Other settings work well, too. I worked occasionally with Nikon D80s and D90s, so I missed the dual jog dials, but the Canon layout and quirks were easy to warm up to. I used a friend's Canon 40D for several minutes, but in terms of heft I preferred the "inferior" plastic of the T2i to the heavier magnesium body of the 40D. It's such a small and lightweight camera that doesn't weigh on me over the course of the day and helps me remain inconspicuous! I'm glad I purchased the 18-55mm kit lens for the trip. If I'd have purchased the 18-135mm lens, I wouldn't immediately want for a better lens. The 18-55 was a great deal and it allowed me to refine my skills and realize the limitations of that medium-quality lens.I recently hooked up the Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 lens with it for taking lower-light pictures at indoor livestock shows. After correcting the lens's focusing problems manually (and learning to deal with a lens that is heavier than the camera body), it showed the camera's versatility. I plan to purchase a fast wider-angle lens (10-24mm or something similar) for it and perhaps a fast 50mm prime. Even further down the road, I may purchase a fast medium lens to replace the 18-55 (while retaining it for light and portable situations). By that time, I may replace the aging T2i with the 7D's successor!I purchased the T2i in hopes that I wouldn't need to buy a video camera for that trip, but I ended up buying one anyway. I'm glad I bought my Sony HD Handycam, even though it was 2 years old and the same price as my T2i -- the Canon is for videography. It's not a camera to put on a tripod and leave in the back of the auditorium during a high school chorus concert; it begs for you to channel your inner Martin Scorsese! Yes, its younger sibling the T3i has improved upon the video experience, but 1.5 years after its introduction, the T2i holds up well.My biggest gripe is with its autofocus system while using the LiveView function for either taking still pictures or video -- it takes ages to get an accurate lock! The camera also tends to overexpose, but editing software and camera controls bring that tendency in check.I've had it just over a year, and I'm closing in on 19,000 pictures. I love it. I'm surprised at how many Rebels (often the T1, T2, or T3is) I see at major public gatherings, casually slung over the shoulders of casual shooters -- smart shooters. It's like a muscle car, taking the 7D's components and stuffing the essentials in a much smaller body!Unless you really need the added video, don't spring for the T3i. But unless you're on a budget, avoid the T1i and splurge. Almost 1.5 years after its introduction, the lightweight low-light, video-shooting All-Star is the best bet for anyone who is getting into or back into photography or who doesn't need the frills of its bigger brother, the 7D. Buy it. You won't regret it.

I'm looking for a camera that I can grow with and learn more about photography. I'm a casual photographer and scrapbooker so it's all about capturing my family memories. Like to tinker and can't wait to learn more about my new camera. I have a friend who has a rebel for over 10 yrs so she's my tutor.

I am starting a photography business and origonally wanted the Canon D40. While searching, another photographer recommended the T2i. At first I was hesitant with the economy being what it is and trying to start a business, I didnt want a second rate camera. Talk about putting both feet in my mouth, I love this camera, it gets shots that normally I would miss and the quality of print is great. I did my first photo shoot for free, trying to get the exposure and experience; the camera was light, easy to handle, controls handy, the pics came out so good, the lady paid me for them.

Upgraded from an Olympus 420, which was my first SLR. T2i is much more user friendly. Easier to use controls. Camera is configured better for the human hand too. Photo quality is excellent. I just need a couple lenses to make it more versatile.

I am relatively new to DSLR photography and have found this camera easy to use. I am still learning to use the different settings on the camera. I have discovered already however that the lens that comes with the camera is too mid-range for what I need. Already looking at purchasing macro and telescopic lenses. Would have been good if the camera came with a lens package. I do love this camera though and am pleased with my purchase.

Since retiring my A1, I find I am enjoying taking digital pics with the T2i. It is light weight and very versatile with the lenses available from Canon. First set of vacation pics turned out fabulous. Even my wife likes the new Rebel in full auto mode, she did not like my A1. I actually had fun learning my new T2i as well as taking some really nice photos.

Comments about Canon Canon EOS Rebel T2i EF-S Digital SLR Camera, 18 Megapixel, with 18-55mm Lens - Black, U.S.A. Warranty:
Great camera for the price. Its performance and image quality, and ergonomics is right at where the price is: beneath pro-grade, but fantastic for just getting serious to semi-pro photographers. ISO noise gets rough around 6400, slightly in 3200. Video is great but it eats through the battery quickly. Get multiple batteries and at least 16 GB card with it if you do video. Also I regret getting the kit lens with it, although the IS is remarkable. I should have gotten a 30mm to fit the crop-sensor on it to be around a normal 50mm on a full frame sensor and also for better low light/indoor photos. Easy to use features and grip. Feels too light, but many of my complaints are small preferences that aren't significant.

I absolutly love this camera. The image quality is great, and the camera feels good in my hands. Not too small or too large. I haven't tried the video options yet, or for photos with lots of movement, but if they are as great as the rest of the features, I wouldn't be surprised.

Overall a great camera for a great price. The only true down side to the camera is when customizing settings, the camera does not allow you to save the setting for used. All settings are are set back to default after the camera has idled/switched to the energy save mode.

i started the digital cross over with the rebel xs. it was a great starter. but over a year or so i out grew it. wasnt sure what to up grade to. a friend of mine let me borrow his t2i. i DID NOT WANT TO GIVE IT BACK! i got great pics with it! i could actually get the camera to do the creative shots i wanted. and when i was feeling lazy, i used the point and shoot modes, and they came out great! the day after i returned it, i went out and bought one. i love it! the only problem is the raw files. the only softwere i can work with it is the provided ones. they work well but i would rather run them through photoshop, i use CS5 and it does`nt support the raw files. other than that no complaints. never had much use for shooting vidios, until now! easy to use, great results. love this camera. i have large hands and had no problems handling it.

One reason I purchase this camera was that the T2i was top rated by Consumer Reports. I especially loved the feature in which you can change how the menu displays. I set it for a black background with yellow letters. It was so much easier to see than my previous Canon Rebel 300D. The 3 inch display was also appreciated. I took some family photos and immediately noticed that the pictures were sharper & had a better exposure. I can't wait to try all the new features.

Comments about Canon Canon EOS Rebel T2i EF-S Digital SLR Camera, 18 Megapixel, with 18-55mm Lens - Black, U.S.A. Warranty:
I got my T2i a couple weeks ago and haven't put it down ever since. I am a casual photographer, so I don't spend a lot of time playing around in the camera scene. In addition, I am new to the DSLR world. I trusted my purchase in Canon's great reputation (in addition to owning an older film Rebel which I love) and decided on this camera. The controls were very easy to figure out even for a newbie like me. The camera's processor allows for fast write speeds onto my high speed memory card, allowing me to take shots much faster than I have been able to with my past cameras. I can't say enough for the photo quality, but I have a feeling that's true for any DSLR. The only problem I foresee with this particular model is it's size. I have small hands so this camera fits me perfectly, but I can see somebody with average/large hands having a hard time holding it. I would recommend getting your hands on one first before buying.

After hearing NOTHING but raving reviews for this camera, from all over the world, I got it and can tell first hand this is a no-brainer purchase. I had a Sony alpha as my entry lever DSLR and I thought that was just fine for my needs. Boy was I wrong. Every picture with the T2i is crystal clear, easy to operate, great manual, clear menus, very intuitive. I hear though it requires very good lenses to match its inherent excellent quality. I got it with the kit lens+telephoto

Comments about Canon Canon EOS Rebel T2i EF-S Digital SLR Camera, 18 Megapixel, with 18-55mm Lens - Black, U.S.A. Warranty:
I upgraded to this camera from an XTi. I have to say I am very happy with it. I just got back from trip with it. I took in 2 days of baseball. They wouldnt let me in with my telephoto, but with 24-105mm at night, I was able to take tack sharp photos of entire field and from right field bleachers to left field bleachers. The image quality is great. I experimented with all the settings, Program, Aperature, shutter priority etc, and they all produced nice colors. I shot close to 400 or so photos and several videos on both days with IS on, and the battery still showed full. The LCD screen is great. Very clear, and I am able to check quality of images ALOT better than I was able to with the XTi. I spent a few nights at beach after sunset, and the low light ability of the camera is very good also. Noise level is very acceptable.Shooting video will take some getting used to but the quality is amazing. Even at lowest quality setting, video is clear and even in low light. Though the built-in microphone picks up ALL the noise of the camera AF etc. I shoot alot of HDR stuff, and with the class 10 cards i bought, the write speed in RAW+jpeg is very fast,no lag time.
I have ONE complaint for the camera, and for some it might be a major issue. The camera has a new RAW data code which NONE of my software can read. I use Photoshop CS3. As of right now, I think that only CS5 can read them. Only other choice is to use Adobe DNG converter, which is free, but might degrade the megapixels. Hopefully, an update will come along for those who cant afford to go to CS5.
All in all, I'm very happy with camera so far. The image quality, ISO performance, and the excellent video make this a great all around camera.

Comments about Canon Canon EOS Rebel T2i EF-S Digital SLR Camera, 18 Megapixel, with 18-55mm Lens - Black, U.S.A. Warranty:
Bought an XT in 2004, and XTi in 2006, and now the T2i in 2010. Wasn't sure that I really wanted to upgrade. I mean, what's really the difference between 10MP and 18MP, right? And who cares that it shoots video?!? Seemed kind of gimmicky, and I already have a standard resolution video camera using miniDV tapes, also bought in 2006. I figured it would be just dropping ca. [$] to say I had the latest tech.Well, I was WRONG! The T2i is outstanding and awe-inspiring. The upgrade from the XTi is well worth it. I really can't say enough good things about the image and video quality. You really just have to see it to believe it. And I don't feel the need anymore to offload the pics to get a good view of them since the LCD is so big and bright. I don't mind storing them on the camera until needed for other purposes, carrying it around and showing off my beautiful pics and videos to everyone. Two 16GB SDHC cards are plenty of storage.I really like the new 63-zone metering system inherited from the 7D. It's really hard to take a poorly exposed shot anymore, but I'll keep trying because it's so much fun! Autofocus works fantastic, too. Of course, composing a shot is and has always been up to the photographer. Don't look to any camera to do that for you. Before buying, I saw some negative reviews regarding build/size and video. Let me just say that, although I've never used a metal-bodied camera like the 7D, I have nothing to complain about regarding the build or the size of the T2i. The camera is plenty rugged enough outside of taking it on a safari or through the everglades (although I don't why it wouldn't withstand that with enough protection), and it's plenty big enough even for my largish man-hands. I do have a battery grip on order, more for having two batteries on-board with extended battery life than for the size bonus. Finally, regarding the video: good-bye old video camera. I've seen reviews questioning why you'd want to have video capability in your SLR, whether you'd really use it, and how ineffective they are because you have to accessorize them so heavily to get quality results. All of these evaluations are irrelevant to a NON-PROFESSIONAL film-maker. The T2i is a perfectly exceptional and convenient replacement for any dedicated video camera, and the video quality is superb--better than my dad's new dedicated SONY HD handi-cam that cost approximately the same as my T2i. It is perfect for family & vacation movies and anything else the non-professional would do with it. And, as has been shown by the number of professionals adopting them, DSLRs are quite capable even for professionals with the proper outfit.I will also say that focusing with video isn't the bear that I've read about or expected. The camera will autofocus for you both before you press the RECORD button, as well as during the filming, if you so desire. Some might say it's slow, but it's no slower than any of the handi-cams I've ever used. Again, this is something that is only relevant to a professional user. There's always manual focusing, too, which isn't hard--no loupe needed. Of course I grew up with a manual-focused 35mm camera. We didn't have autofocus back then (that anyone could afford or that worked well), and ETTL had just come into wide-spread useage.I really can't say enough good things about this T2i. I don't regret the purchase at all. It's a very worthy upgrade, certainly from any point-and-shoot, definitely from XTi/XS/XSi, and probably also from the T1i. Very enjoyable camera that makes you run around taking pictures of EVERYTHING once again. That alone is worth the money!

Comments about Canon Canon EOS Rebel T2i EF-S Digital SLR Camera, 18 Megapixel, with 18-55mm Lens - Black, U.S.A. Warranty:
I initially wanted to purchase a T1i, but after seeing the T2i and the video capabilities, I was sold on it. This is my first DSLR, I was tired of the image quality that I was getting with my (non-Canon) point and shoot. For a beginner in the SLR world, this camera seems to be arranged (controls, menus etc) in a way that is easy to navigate. Someone with more experience may have a different opinion on that aspect of the camera.
My son is involved in martial arts and having the HD video option was the main selling point, besides the great still pictures it takes. Being able to capture fast movements and having the ability to slow that footage down and still have a clear video is important to me. I have not had an opportunity to do that yet, but I believe this camera will support that need very easily. I have taken about 100 still photos, every one has come out nicely, even the ones I was experimenting with.

Bought this camera from Adorama and received it last week. It's really a beautiful camera and a delight to use. I have the kit lens and the Tamron 70-300 lens. Both perform well and look good on the camera. It's a step up from my XSi that I had been using. It has video(which I do not use) and a tack sharp 3 inch LCD screen. Because it's smallish, I prefer to shoot with the acc. bat. pack. The pack gives you a more secure hold on the camera and you are less likely to drop it. I wish Canon would put a more pebbeled grip on it. All my photos taken so far with this camera have come out perfectly exposed, even indoors using 6400 iso. The camera is a little jewel and I love using it.
