Comments about Fujifilm Fujifilm IS-1 Visible Plus IR Sensitive Digital Camera, 9.0 MP, 10.7x Optical Zoom:

Is the only choice for infrared photographers. Is cheapest than the IS Pro with the advantage to use a built in zoom and not Nikon lens (I've Canon).
With this camera I've found the replace for discontinued Kodak HIE and Kodak EIR films. Other brands films aren't the same.
I'm able to live view in infrared, experimenting new way to shoot.
It's a new experience and I don't regret infrared films.
Another way it's to modify another digital camera, but in that case the firmware of the IS-1 it's studied to work for infrared.
The noise is acceptable at ISO 80, 100 and sometimes at 200, but not more.
Maybe the IS Pro is better, but more expensive.
The 4:3 sensor isn't a good choice in a so small area, so I've to use it in the 3:2 mode that allow me to shoot only in JPEG.
The menu isn't so easy to use, it's more similar to Nikon than Canon. Using a Canon menu is like an iPod, but the Fuji/Nikon way is very difficult.

Comments about Fujifilm Fujifilm IS-1 Visible Plus IR Sensitive Digital Camera, 9.0 MP, 10.7x Optical Zoom:

I use this camera specifically for IR photography. It is a good camera in that respect, but even a converted Rebel XT or Nikon D40 would do a better job than this camera. The auto-focus is unreliable and the manual focus is a pain.

The 10.7x zoom is good, but auto-focus is terrible past 200mm.

The camera is also terribly noisy for something that aims to look and feel like an SLR.

Comments about Fujifilm Fujifilm IS-1 Visible Plus IR Sensitive Digital Camera, 9.0 MP, 10.7x Optical Zoom:

The Fuji IS-1 is a very capable, powerhouse, cute camera. Straight out of the box install batteries, attach a Hoya RM90, switch it on, and I'm shooting IR pics of sharpness and detail, no vignetting at all, and works well with the Fuji Wide Angle Lens accessory. With the filter the AF performs well. The live view lcd display is a big plus, and switching between the lcd display and viewfinder is simple as a button press. Software installation is simple, the manual in PDF format is concise and easy to follow. Attach the USB cable to camera and laptop, the download software starts up automatically. This unit is so cool for the price, I'm tempted to purchase another. A factory made IR camera is the way to go.

This camera has lens flare with ANY filter I use on it. These are the very same infrared filters/polarizer I used on my Canons without lens flare. Filters and lens are very clean and am using a lens hood. I have referred this to the Manufacturer [...].Not happy!

Comments about Fujifilm Fujifilm IS-1 Visible Plus IR Sensitive Digital Camera, 9.0 MP, 10.7x Optical Zoom:

Over the years I have used Canon EOS 300D; 350D and 400D digital camera for infra red photography each with vary degrees of success. One thing IR photographers get used to when using digital cameras is long shutter speeds and carrying a tripod around with them. I decided to give the IS-1 a try as an alternative to having my Canon butchered by removing the internal IR filters, I am glad I made the choice and purchased the IS-1.This is a truly exceptional IR camera even with a Hoya R72 IR pass filter attached and ISO set to 100 I found it possible to take stunning pictures while holding the camera by hand. I can highly recommend the IS-1 for all your IR needs.[...]
