Comments about Nikon Nikon CA10, Replacement 10-pin Cable for GP-1 GPS Unit:
I bought the GPS-1 from Nikon about a year ago. I will say I love the ability to gather GPS location information in the field. Very Accurate! BUT I really don't like giving up the 10 pin socket (I use it for a remote trigger) so design wise it could be better. Also when connected to my D300 or D700 it attaches with the wire angled off in a direction that forces the wire to twist around in an ackward way that puts stress on the base of the connection.

The specs on the GP-1 go to 0 deg C, 32 deg F on the cold side. For an outdoor photographer in Canada, that isn't very cold and I didn't read that spec carefully before purchasing. After a couple of hours outside at -20 my cable stiffened and the insulation broke while attached to the strap.

If Nikon re-designs the cable to stay out of the way of your hands and the camera strap...and not come apart from the plugs, this will be a great device.
