product worked great. i am absolutely amazed at the level of clarity in photos even in low lightings with relatively low ISO. pictures still came out clean and sharp. lense worked great with my controlled lighting in a photo booth shooting objects for a website. perfect.

Got a refurb because that was all that was available. Lens looked brand new and works wonderfully. Added a 7 year warranty and it was still $30 cheaper.

Initially I purchased this lens for nightlife photography under extremely low-light conditions in tight spaces for use with my D90 and SB-600 flash. Never got it in time, though. Instead I have found myself using this for portraits and candid shots of my 11 month old son.

I was stunned at how well the 35mm lens worked in tight spaces when my subject moved in well within a meter from the camera. Framing my shots from several meters away proved just as rewarding. The focus is wonderfully fast and I have been thrilled with the luxuriously soft background resulting from shooting at larger apertures. Furthermore, the lens' weight is so light it adds almost no appreciable weight to my D90 equipped with grip and TTL flash.

I committed to this lens based on numerous reviews from reputable sources and industry professionals all raving about the high quality picture results and I will have to agree wholeheartedly. But, I cannot deny the fact that the price of this lens, too, was a major contributing factor in my decision.

Prior to investing in Nikon gear I was fortunate enough to demo a Canon 5D equipped with a high-end Canon wide-angle zoom lens valued at ten times more than what I payed for this 35mm workhorse. Based on my demanding requirements the results are almost identical to the more expensive Canon lens. As a result I have not only gained greater confidence in Nikon's products but have also gained an appreciation for the superior value. It's comforting knowing I don't have to break the bank for professional results.

Without question, this is now my primary lens.

overall I feel very happy with this lens, it does every thing that it should very well. tI is a plastic lens, and feels like one, but it's the image it produces that counts (and it can produce great pictures). For the price, I think that it is the best buy that I have made in a long time.
