There is good reason why this lens is constantly sold out/backordered at many places. It's super lightweight, very fast, and takes lovely pictures in low light. Even though there's no zooming (well, with your feet!), I will probably use it 95% of the time on my Lumix G2. If you're going to buy one lens for your DLSM camera, make it this one.

A great lens for the Micro 4/3 format. On the Olympus PL-1 it makes the camera small enough to carry around all the time.

I used this lens on my Olympus EP1 and I love it. It works great for low light photography. I use this and the Lumix 14 mm most of the time and rarely use the 14-42 mm kit lens that came with the camera.

At f1.7, this 20mm MFT lens is good for low light situations. Even at its maximum aperture it offers good sharpness (check its reviews on the web). While of course it is not as fast as the Voigtländer Nokton f0.95 25mm, it is about 1/3 the price, is much smaller/lighter and does have auto-focus with a reasonably fast speed (depending on your camera). This is probably one of the standard lenses to have in any Micro Four Thirds system.

This lens is the perfect fixed focal length lens for any u4/3 camera. In my case it replaced the kit zoom lens that came on the Olympus E-PL1. With a resulting 35mm equivalent focal length of 40mm, this is the perfect lens for almost all pictures: people, scenery, events, just stuff in general.
I went on vacation and only for a few wildlife zoom pictures did I ever take the lens of the camera.
f/1.7 really brings out the bokeh

I've really enjoyed this lens a lot since replacing my Olympus 17mm f2.8. The Oly 17mm was solid performer, but having the extra stops for low-light conditions has been excellent. Build quality is really nice, and the glass performs like you want. There's lots of technical reviews on the web, so I won't go deep into that, but just know that if you're on the fence about getting the 17mm or the 20mm... my vote is for the Panasonic 20mm. I don't regret it one bit.

I leave this lens on my Oly E-PL1. It is the only lens you may want or need for street photography -photos are breathtaking, either color or converted to B&W. Combination of this camera and lens just cannot be beat for low-light. Highly recommended.

The Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 is an excellent fast lens on the Micro Four Thirds cameras, producing the equivalent 35mm focal length coverage of 40mm. Sharpness and contrast are excellent, even wide-open. It instantly became THE lens I use most due to its f/1.7 speed and compactness.
My sole criticism of this lens is that it seems to slow the E-P2's shutter release. It's not the auto-focus response, which actually is relatively good. Rather, it seems like the issue is slow communication between the lens and E-P2 body. It's just a half second slower than it should be, even using manual focus.
Still, once you get the hang of this rhythm you'll have a hard time making excuses to remove this lens from your camera.

So far this lens works beautifully. I bought it for my Lumix GF1 as an alternative to the kit 14-45mm f3.5-5.6. I use it for indoors and low light (it is 2 stops faster at f1.7) - auto-focusing speed has not been a problem. I also like how small and light it is - I carry the GF1 with this lens pretty much everywhere I go as an alternative to carrying a DSLR. You have to zoom in and out with your feet.

Excellent lens. To me, better than the Canon 28mm 1.8 that I used to mount on my Rebel Xti to get a somewhat fast 50mm lens. With the GF1, I get 40mm, but it works great with interior (low light) shots. The colors are simply beautiful. Consistent output.
