Comments about Sony Sony 100mm f/2.8 a (alpha) Mount Digital SLR Macro Lens with Hood:

This is a great lens. Well built, super sharp, fast auto focus, and no imperfections or compromises in it's optical design and performance. My lens focuses very fast and hardly ever hunts. It pretty much only hunts when I am not aiming the camera at something that the focus sensors can focus on at that moment. I can say that it is one super lens because I have compared it to other lenses I have, and this 100mm macro has become my favorite. I even like it more than any zoom lens.
The only thing that can be a con is the price-kinda high. But I'm glad I paid for it! I use it mostly for portraits of individuals and couples or groups of people. And also to reproduce photos.

Comments about Sony Sony 100mm f/2.8 a (alpha) Mount Digital SLR Macro Lens with Hood:

This lens takes very good, sharp photos. I have used it on several occasions with my a900 for indoor and outdoor portraits. I haven't actually used it much for macro shots. The clarity is great and the bokeh is very good. I was actually impressed given the [$] price tag. My biggest gripe with this lens is that it hunts quite a bit and is slow to focus. This is very irritating when trying to shoot children. Also, just a gripe and has nothing to do with performance but the build is almost entirely plastic and has the "cheap" feel to it. I bought this lens because it was the less expensive alternative to the Zeiss 85mm. I believe the shortcomings of this lense and the sheer awesomeness of the Zeiss will still have me buying it in the end.
