Everything I wanted in this lens it has proven to have. Fast AF, 2.8, and relatively cost effective compared to the Nikkor version. No complaints at all since receiving it. Excited to have this in my bag, and even more at the results it lends on screen, and in print. No regrets.

Comments about Tamron Tamron 70 - 200mm f/2.8 DI LD (IF) Macro, Fast AF Telephoto Zoom Lens for Nikon AF Mount - USA Warranty:

This lens costs half of what Nikon's version costs. With the exception of a softer focus at the 200mm point, this lens is sharp and precise. Anything under 144mm is very crisp and clean.
I like the ease of "manual/auto" focus toggling (no switch, never take the eyes off the viewfinder to change auto to manual & back).
If shooting sports, definitely choose manual focusing.

Comments about Tamron Tamron 70 - 200mm f/2.8 DI LD (IF) Macro, Fast AF Telephoto Zoom Lens for Nikon AF Mount - USA Warranty:

i bought this lens to replace a Sigma AF HSM,and expected about the same results...BOY what a diference a few years make! the Tamron produced exceptionally crisp, tack sharp prints i have never seen with the older Sigma lens.I can't knock the Sigma,I bought it over the Nikon in 1999.The Tamron is well constructed, well designed and well worth every penny that makes it well worth a look for those who are in the market for a 70-200 2.8.well well
Given,NIkion just redesigned it's flagship 70-200 and judging from initial recption (and word of mouth) is the new Holy Grail, you owe it to yourself to check out the Tamron, you won't regret it.

Comments about Tamron Tamron 70 - 200mm f/2.8 DI LD (IF) Macro, Fast AF Telephoto Zoom Lens for Nikon AF Mount - USA Warranty:

I borrowed this lens to shoot a wedding and I was thoroughly impressed, so much so that I actually wished I had tried this one before I purchased my Nikon 80-200. The Nikon is a wonderful lens, now mind you, but the price point of the Tamron gives it the edge in my book.

As this wedding took place at the shore, I took a number of establishment shots of wildlife and various members of the wedding party playing in the surf. I found the Tamron to be very quick on the focus and it worked well with both my D200 and D90. I especially like the rotating/removable tripod mount which, unlike the Nikon which has fixed mount, allows you to get it out of the way for handheld shots.

I had no problems with this rented lens over two days of shooting. Great lens.

Comments about Tamron Tamron 70 - 200mm f/2.8 DI LD (IF) Macro, Fast AF Telephoto Zoom Lens for Nikon AF Mount - USA Warranty:

I have used Tamron for years and this is the first one that has let me down. This lens is very slow to focus and you can hear it hunting for the target over and over. When it does focus I have found that it is not always accurate. Tamron missed the mark on this lens. However as I said this is the first Tamron ever that has been less than perfect.

Two copies of this lens consistently mis-focussed. When the lens was "on" the images were very sharp. But mis-focussing detracts from what is a sharp lens.

I went with the Sigma 50-150mm. On the same body, it's focus is dead on, time and again.

Comments about Tamron Tamron 70 - 200mm f/2.8 DI LD (IF) Macro, Fast AF Telephoto Zoom Lens for Nikon AF Mount - USA Warranty:

Great Lens! Its my first 70-200mm f2.8, and I really love it. It really lets me shots that i couldnt before. I am very pleased. There is only one downside, and that is that it is sometimes a little inconsistant with focusing. Occasionally, It is a little inaccurate with focusing. However, if you can afford to bump it up to f.4, most of those problems will be taken care of. No, its not Nikon/Canon quality, but thats not something that is expected with this price. For the price it is an amazing lens, and I recommend it to all who just dont have the funds to buy the Nikon/Canon.

Comments about Tamron Tamron 70 - 200mm f/2.8 DI LD (IF) Macro, Fast AF Telephoto Zoom Lens for Nikon AF Mount - USA Warranty:

I've had this lens for about two months now. I had always wanted a 70-200 f2.8 lens, and Tamron finally made one sharp enough and affordable for a hobbyist. It is a little slow to autofocus, but very usable for portraits and the occasional shorts shooter.I am very pleased with the sharpness at f2.8, but by f4, its crazy sharp.
