Despite the narrow focal range (or because of it?) this is very sharp across the aperture range. It works well on my 7D. Nice addition.

I use this lens for all my indoor shots and landscape shots. Works great at the clubs even at my niece's birthday party. The price is awesome!

Switching to manual focus takes some getting use to but other then that miner thing it's fantastic.

It's a keeper...

Comments about Tokina Tokina 11mm - 16mm F/2.8 ATX Pro DX Autofocus Zoom Lens for Canon EOS Digital SLR Cameras.:

My healthy sense of skepticism has been swept aside by the performance of this lens. Its flexibility is astounding. Except for telephoto shots - this has become be a permanent fixture on my Canon 60D.

Bravo Tokina! A contemporary David and Goliath story in the field of optics and photography.

Comments about Tokina Tokina 11mm - 16mm F/2.8 ATX Pro DX Autofocus Zoom Lens for Canon EOS Digital SLR Cameras.:

A tremendous lens and excellent build quality. Initially found the focus to be inconsistent. Then found that this was easily corrected by changing to smaller F stops. Great photos, great color saturation, excellent focus and great low light level photos. The 11mm setting provides exceptional drama for landscape photos with a big field of view.

Comments about Tokina Tokina 11mm - 16mm F/2.8 ATX Pro DX Autofocus Zoom Lens for Canon EOS Digital SLR Cameras.:

I have shot with the Canon 10-22 and with this Tokina 11-16.(Currently still own the Canon 10-22, recently sold my 11-16 because someone offered me $750 cash) Bottom Line - If you can live with the smaller focal range and get over the Non-Canon stigma, the Tokina is a vastly superior lens. Build quality is "L" quality on the Tokina, while the Canon is so-so. The Tokina is a fixed 2.8 and sharp wide open, Canon is not so much even though it's slower at 3.5. At f/8, both are good, but Tokina still wins, especially on the edges. Anyway, that's my take on it.

Comments about Tokina Tokina 11mm - 16mm F/2.8 ATX Pro DX Autofocus Zoom Lens for Canon EOS Digital SLR Cameras.:

I love this lens. i honestly use it the most out of all my lenses. anywhere i go its the one on my camera. being the fastest wide zoom in its category i prefer it over canons 10-22. some say the zoom range is useless but i find it very useful. from 11-16 its the different from about 2% distortion to .5%. and on a full frame camera 16 is just enough the fill the frame. the only downside to this lense you get tons of Chromatic Aberration. pretty much expect to have to correct this in lightroom or photoshop for every picture taken in bright day.

Comments about Tokina Tokina 11mm - 16mm F/2.8 ATX Pro DX Autofocus Zoom Lens for Canon EOS Digital SLR Cameras.:

I've always found myself wishing that i could get a wider field of view using my Rebel XT. Also wanted to be able to take indoor shots in natural light. I like my Canon 50mm f/1.8 for it's speed, but i wanted something i could get much more out of. The Tokina 11mm-16mm f/2.8 is wonderful for many purposes. Awesome for landscapes, indoor natural light, and night shots. Great for artist shots... using odd angles and productions. The colors are very true, and the lens itself produced sharper images than i was expecting, even when used wide open. The Tokina 11mm-16mm is built like a tank, but still doesn't feel too heavy. The lens hood works well also. I read other comments about people having trouble with using a wide angle thin 77mm UV filter, and the lens cap no fitting over it well... but I've had no such issue. I LOVE THIS LENS!

Comments about Tokina Tokina 11mm - 16mm F/2.8 ATX Pro DX Autofocus Zoom Lens for Canon EOS Digital SLR Cameras.:

I traveled with this lenses in my Canon 40D (crop sensor) and is super sharp at f8. Colors are vibrant. Images look impresive.
Is kinda heavy but that's not a problem. When zooming, the length of the lens remains the same, which is cool. Comes with a nice hood.
It may be way too wide for a full frame sensor camera and I wish the range was longer, 11-16mm is not too much but the 2.8 aperture is great for indoors with artificial light. BTW, at 11mm you get curved trees and if you're shooting groups of people, the ones on both sides will get very stretched.

I was going back and forth between this lenses and the 12-24 f4 but I decided for this one because I was planning on shooting indoors. Very happy with the purchase.

Sharp and fast lens. It took me a while to get used to using such a wide lens. Great for landscapes and nightshots. Also great for large group pictures. The f/2.8 is nice. I also used this to shoot pictures kids in my class.

Comments about Tokina Tokina 11mm - 16mm F/2.8 ATX Pro DX Autofocus Zoom Lens for Canon EOS Digital SLR Cameras.:

This lens is really excellent, except that on my Rebel XT focus lock/confirmation is a real problem (I focus manually instead). Focus lock confirmation should be better on a Rebel XSi or 40D (purchasing 40D this month). Optically this is easily the best lens in its class, and build quality is excellent too. The short zoom range is not a problem for me. I love having the f/2.8mm, and its pretty good wide open.
