I was relieved to find the OE replacement for the 77mm lens cap that I lost while hiking in Bryce Canyon National Park. The price was a pleasant surprise considering it was a Nikon original.

The "front central" squeeze mechanism is so much easier to use than the "side squeeze" type especially if the lens has a hood in place.

I have one of these for each of my Canon lenses because they're just so much easier to use. Canon's lens caps are a pain whereas these Nikons are on and off securely. Nikon is interested in keeping customers and making life easier, Canon is interested in making money and thus doesn't have time to think about little things like making a better lens cap.

Simple, Durable, Reliable. Nice solid feel, You can "pinch" it in the center, or "grab" it by the edges... both will open the "latches".

i bought a 72mm lens, stepped up to 77mm filters, and bought this to protect it(obviously the 72mm lens cap would no longer fit). B + W Step-Up Adapter Ring, to nikon polarizer, to nikon neutral clear filter, to this cap. fits like a champ. GREAT GREAT GREAT!

Seems to grip the filter threads better than the Tokina. Considerably easier to remove or replace. Just feels like a sturdier pice than the stock Tokina cap. I use it on the 12-24mm.

I use some step-up filters for some of the lens. Need a 77mm cap to protect some of the expensive filters. It is easy to use and provide good protection.
