That is my first camera backpack and I can not compare it with other camera backpacks, but I have mountain backpacks and this is as comfortable as them. So I'm strongly recommending this one. If you want to bring only one camera with you it is perfect.

Took camera body, two lenses, a flash and two large hoods on a flight w/ this bag. Everything fit well and it carried nicely as a backback.

I bought this backpack because I was flying from Florida to Michigan. I was able to pack all of my electronics for the trip in this backpack. I had the pack almost full and it still fit as a carry on which was why i bought it in the first place. A couple of things that i was able to fit with no problem was my DSLR w lens attached, 2 extra lenses,2 flashes, GPS unit, remotes for my camera, video camera, my sons DS, Toshiba laptop, and ALL the chargers for the equipment and i still had room left. The best thing about being able to fit all that gear in there was the ability to get it quickly if needed.

All of the previous reviews led me to buy mine....have taken it on one plane flight/trip, and it is great. I've had 5 bags, 3 shoulder and one pull behind, and this is the best. I use my Lowepro pull behind as a carry-on suitcase now. (the liner comes out)

I love this bag. I'm not just fond of it, I truly love it. I travel for business and pleasure quite a bit, and I've been looking for a bag to suit my special needs for quite a while, then comes the Lowepro 350 Fastpack. It holds my laptop, my camera and equipment, and all my personal stuff I don't feel particularly good about entrusting to the airlines.

Not only will it accommodate my 40D with grip, but with my 28-135 attached with lens hood. It has room for my 70-200 4L, and any extra equipment I drag along, (wide angle, filters, chargers, etc.), and this is only in the camera compartment! It has a security flap that covers the side access area of the camera compartment for extra protection. Speaking of the side access area, when backpacking in rural or urban areas it provides quick easy access to your camera and lens in short order when you want your camera in a hurry.

The 350 model accommodates a 17" widescreen laptop providing a zippered slot towards the rear, or shoulder strapped area, with ample padded protection. The upper portion of the bag provides ample space for your personal items with several additional securable pouches, and one large removable pouch.

Did I mention that with all of this it will also fit under your seat on an airplane as well?! It's size and mobility offers the option of also taking an additional carry on bag for the overhead so you don't have to even offer the chance to the airlines to lose your stuff.

The bag compartments and camera area are very well protected and customizable for your camera needs. It comes in three colors, black, black with red highlights, and black with blue highlights. This bag is pure nectar, and the price is extremely reasonable for the quality it provides.

Comments about Lowepro Lowepro Fastpack 350 Digital SLR & Widescreen Notebook Backpack, Water Resistant & 180-Degree Access Panel, Black:

I am very happy with my Lowepro Fastpack 350 purchase. Ordering it over the internet, I was a little surprised by its large looking size when I first pulled it from the shipping box, but then I have never owned a camera bag/backpack combo before.

My first concern was - will all of my camera gear (Canon EOS 50D, Canon 10-22, Canon 24-70 2.8, Canon 70-200 2.8, filters, spare battery, battery charger, manual...), properly fit? Yes. My camera and lenses fit snugly which was my hope. With no room to shift or move, the Lowepro 350 protects my equipment, providing me with a secure confidence and peace of mind.

My second concern - how comfortable would the Lowepro Fastpack be? Very! My first test was a 9 1/2 hour, 15 mile hike to the top of a local mountain. Though a little weighty when fully loaded, the Fastpack 350 with its heavily padded shoulder straps, padded waist harness and padded backpack panel (where the pack rides against your back - lower back included), were so comfortable, the Fastpack felt tailor made. The addition of the chest and waist straps kept the pack completely stable on my back at all times, never allowing either the pack or its contents to shift when my balance would.

The "Fastpack" feature of this backpack is a great convenience. When I wanted to access my camera, but had no level ground on the trail to set the pack down, the ground was either muddy or wet due to snow, I simply slipped out of the right shoulder strap and swung the Lowepro 180-degrees around to the front, while the left shoulder strap was still on. I could then open the side panel of the pack and pull out my camera, without ever having to put the Fastpack on the ground.

The additional room at the top half of the 350 (the backpack portion), allowed me enough room to carry sweat pants, light weight jacket, protein bars and water, with still a little room to spare if I included its additional zippered and Velcro pockets.

I definitely see the Lowepro Fastpack 350 being one of my two carry-on bags for many future photo trips and flights to come.

this is truly a great pack! it does, however, become really heavy with a 17" macbook, camera & 3 lenses.
the only wish i have for this pack would be a handle on the base of the pack for lifting it out of car trunks when it's laid down flat.
