Comments about Tamrac Tamrac 5588 Expedition 8x Backpack for SLR Camera, Flash with Accessories & 17" Laptops, Black:

I could not be more pleased with this bag. I'm able to simultaneously store the following with no issues:
Nikon D3 with 70-200 lens attached
Nikon D3 with 14-24 lens attached
4 Speedlights
1 Speedlight Commander
4 other lenses of vaious sizes
3 collapsible reflectors in the laptop section

It took some creative thinking to adjust the dividers but it all fits nice and secure. Very heavy with all this inside but the well-padded waistbelt makes it comfortable to carry.

As an example, I got this bag 2 days before traveling to Pittsburgh. It's sized to be used as carry-on but the plane's overhead bins were too small so they made me check it at the gate despite my protests. To my shock everything came out fine. I wouldn't recommend checking this bag but it's nice to know your equipment has a fighting chance.

This Bag is very well constructed and well designed for camera equipment and a lap top. My bag has been to Iraq and Afghanistan as well as Asia and Europe. The rain seal and covered zippers are very good at keeping out both rain and desert dust. The bag fits in most airline over head luggage compartments but is too big to fit under seats.

My only complaint is that with a name like Expedition, you would think there would be compartments for personal gear like a few clothes or trekking gear.

While this bag is not for everyone, serious photogs have got to love it! Serious protection for lots of gear, easy organization ol lenses and accessories. The sorting system for batteries and mem cards is both ingenious and user friendly. I believe anyone with 2 bodies and multiple lenses, flash, etc, will be impressed with this bags usability. It can be somewhat heavy though!!!

I like to use backpacks for my camera gear even though I don't use it for hiking. This pack holds a ton of stuff, but it is designed for outdoor use as it states. I'm happy with it overall and it definitely holds my equipment, but would love it if it had a few less straps and wasn't quite so bulky.

This bag is roomier than you might think and has plenty of space for gear (i.e. A D700 SLR bodie with a 80-200 lens attached, Could hold up to a 600 lens, plus other gear). The construction is top-quality and the design is well thought out. My tripod is a full-sized Gitzo and therefore hangs down below the tripod foot pocket, but the three straps the bag has to secure my tripod do a great job of attaching it to the back with no issues. It distributes weight on your hips. if you have to carry an excessive amount of weight. The super-comfortable arm straps and waist strap secured with the strap across your chest is enough to let you carry this bag around all day. This is the 3rd bag I have bought and it is the one I have been looking for.
