Comments about Adorama Adorama DL-50M Manual Flash Unit with PC Cord, GN 50 at ISO 100:

This flash does the job when using it with my Olympus RC-35 or with Lomo cameras. Adorama couldn't tell me what the sync voltage was, I tested it at 85V so while it safe to use with my D-90 what's the point if you can't turn down the power. This flash is not useful if you want shoot wide open at 2.8 unless you are trying to light up a far subject. If this flash was used with Diana or Holga with small f-numbers it will serve well for lighting subjects in doors.

I use older 135, 120 and toy cameras and this is perfect. It is bright, cycles quickly and that PC sync is a must for some of my older cameras.
I love that it didn't break my hobby budget either.

I am using this simple flash on a Canon digital to trigger slaves.

CAUTION: As the voltage across the contacts of this flash is 280V direct connection to most digital cameras will fry their electronics.

Use an Olympus Safe Sync interface. SKU: IOMSSHSHS from Adorama to protect your camera.

Comments about Adorama Adorama DL-50M Manual Flash Unit with PC Cord, GN 50 at ISO 100:

I got this flash to complement my small 35mm range-finder kit and will serve nicely in that role.

I normally use ISO 400 film with this kit. On- camera, it serves as a good fill-flash in bright sun, at 10'/3m the flash rates to f11@400 which will serve to fill harsh shadows for f16, give or take.

Indoors, with the PC-cord, open the aperture to f8, hold the flash in one hand and the camera in the other and bounce the flash off walls/ceilings.Using a range-finder, I can drag the shutter to 1/60th or 1/30th hand-held so I don't get so much of that dark-background paparazzi-look that can happen.

The flash doesn't swivel or tilt, but the hand-hold option makes up for this deficiency provided your camera has a PC connector.

If you're looking for auto-everything, this isn't your flash. And without an "auto" mode or the ability to set the output level, you need to pay attention to the distance to your subject and adjust your aperture and shutter speed. Even so, this is a nice, little flash for when you need a little flash.

The PC cord has a non-standard looking connector to the flash body. I would have preferred a more standard mini-plug allowing me to obtain a longer PC-cord, but the one that is included seems to serve my need well enough.
