Comments about Gary Fong Gary Fong C1 Cloud Lightsphere II, Inverted Dome Flash Diffusion System.:

I'm still pretty much a "newbie" when it comes to DSLR photogrpahy. Indoor flash photography has been my biggest nemesis. The Gary Fong diffuser really takes the edge off, literally. No more harsh shadows or washed out photos! It's a great product.

Bottom Line:

Comments about Gary Fong Gary Fong C1 Cloud Lightsphere II, Inverted Dome Flash Diffusion System.:

This is not a product you can just pull out of the box and get great results with right away. However with some trial and errer and watching the Gary Fong videos you can get the lightsphere to create fairly decent lighting. It just takes a while to get used to the idea of shooting at iso 800 when using flash. This picture was shot with the inverted dome on.

I like this diffuser, but it does take up a lot of room in the camera bag. Perhaps the collapsible version would have been a better choice.

Used with a Nikon D90 and SB-600 flash.

I have been searching for something like this for a while now and have finally found it. The Lightsphere is everything I could have imagined. Prior to obtaining the Lightsphere, I was using a simple square plastic diffuser. While this worked in most cases, it is nothing in comparison to the Lightsphere when considering final image quality. I used it indoors at a wedding rehearsal the first time and found it to produce very warm skin tone with a perfect amount of diffusion. Minimal post processing needed saving valuable time.

The only negative thing I could find is the size, but once you see the results it can provide, the size won't matter a bit!

Great Diffuser of light
By Buddy MVerified Purchaser from Ft. Lauderdale, FL on 3/31/2009

Comments about Gary Fong Gary Fong C1 Cloud Lightsphere II, Inverted Dome Flash Diffusion System.:

I own two Gary Fong diffusers, the clear and the clouded lightsphere. Both of these diffusers offer a great range of light dispersion across a wide space. I've been able to fill an entire room with light and eliminate many dark shadows that typically happen with a pop up flash or a mounted flash. When taking pictures of people, I get a soft touch of light on the skin rather than a bright spot. It's not the greatest tool to use with high ceilings, but it still does a good job.

The lightsphere works very well in small rooms. The quality of light is amazing. I also like the orange cap for matching the tungston light in most situations. The only con is it will use alot of powe increasing the recycle time of the flash.

Comments about Gary Fong Gary Fong C1 Cloud Lightsphere II, Inverted Dome Flash Diffusion System.:

I like it for soft shadows, But the extra wieght it places on my flash limits angles. Sometimes it just flops the flash head over or down. It can get loose and fall off also. I like the color and shadow free pictures, but sometimes it is just too big to mess with.

I' ve took this diffuser to a wedding and got very good results. This difusser spreads the light in all directions mixing the flash light with the ambient light creating a very nice mood. You will not believe you took that picture, no more harsh shadows or flash reflections on peoples foreheads.

I truly recommend it.

The Lightsphere works well with or without the use of a bracket. Shadows that may have been previously noticeable are softened enough to become negligible. With a bracket they are practically nonexistent. A good product overall, with a very useful instructional CD as part of the package.

Pros:
Softens Light
Cons:
Bulky
Bottom Line:

Comments about Gary Fong Gary Fong C1 Cloud Lightsphere II, Inverted Dome Flash Diffusion System.:

It really does what it says. I'm getting great light easily in both landscape and portrait orientations without a bracket. That alone is worth the price. Informative CD that comes with it is worth watching to learn the little tricks to help maximize its use. Its a little bulky to carry around, but for an event the little extra space is well worth it. It will slip easily around a lens for storage and is essentially unbreakable.
