Comments about Photoflex Photoflex Shoe Mount Multiclamp with Umbrella Holder for Mounting Small Flashes to Light Stands.:

This shoe mount is a very well made product. It attaches securely to a standard light stand top, adjusts easily and tightens down perfectly. I comes with two high quality brass attachments and an aluminum shoe, although that shoe may short fire some flashes and may need to be insulated. I use it with a Nikon SB-600 flash and replace the supplied show with a Nikon sync cord. I also use a 32" umbrella with it and the entire assembly is strong and reliable.

Comments about Photoflex Photoflex Shoe Mount Multiclamp with Umbrella Holder for Mounting Small Flashes to Light Stands.:

First, this is a great product. It is well built and functions just as it claims to. But what won me over more than anything was there excellent customer service. When I received the Multi-Clamp the little thumb screw that is meant to secure the shoe mount flash to the unit was shorter than is should be. It looked as though the screw was broken off. I contacted Photoflex's customer service through email, and heard back in less than a day. My contact was [...]. She asked if I could take some pictures so that she could get a better idea of what I was talking about. I sent them to her, and she got back to me immediately with a request for the address she needed to send the replacement to. She was quick, courteous, and seemed to care that I had a problem. I really appreciated that. And it was just a little screw! This leads me to believe had my problem been more serious, it would have been dealt with in the same way. Highly recommend this product and this company.

Comments about Photoflex Photoflex Shoe Mount Multiclamp with Umbrella Holder for Mounting Small Flashes to Light Stands.:

I bought this clamp because I needed a way to attach a Nikon SB800 to a light stand. I also wanted to be able to rotate the flash to a vertical position. This clamp does that. As well as attaching to a screw mount on a light stand, the screw inserts can be removed and it will attach to a rod mount.

The only downside to this clamp is hot shot mount is rather generous in size and you have to use the screw on the mount to keep the flash tight. The normal lock on the flash side does not hold the flash tight in this mount.

It's hard to tell from the pictures, but this clamp and the Adorama universal swivel holder are indentical.

Comments about Photoflex Photoflex Shoe Mount Multiclamp with Umbrella Holder for Mounting Small Flashes to Light Stands.:

Nice versatile mount. The shoe mount is metal so I put some electrical tape over the top just to make sure it wouldn't interfere with the hot shoe contacts on the flash. Don't know if it would but decided to play it safe. All connections secure well and it appears to be well built. I have found no issues with it so far.

This clamp is a handy, flexible way to hang portable flash units from 5/8" pins. The shoe is firmly attached to a post that will also fit into a mafer clamp. The shoe has a locking screw to help stabilize the flimsy plastic foot found on a lot of portable flashes.

Comments about Photoflex Photoflex Shoe Mount Multiclamp with Umbrella Holder for Mounting Small Flashes to Light Stands.:

I use this to connect my Speedlite flash adapter, lightstand and shoot-through umbrella together. It works great and is quite flexible. I'm very happy with this little gadget overall. Have used it for softening flash everywhere from photographing people and pets to museum exhibits and making stock photos.

I did have some trouble finding this on the Adorama web site, because I didn't know exactly what these are called.

I do have a couple suggestions for improvements:

It would have been nice if there was a hook, or some kind of mount to safely hold a wireless flash trigger. I currently use a rubber band to do that, but it is an accident waiting to happen as rubber bands get brittle in cold weather. Maybe velcro would be a better choice.

It would also have been nice if there was a small anvil or something at the end of the screw that tightens against the umbrella shaft. The end of the clamping screw does scratch up the umbrella shaft a bit. If that kind of thing bothers you, it should be possible to wrap the umbrella shaft with something to protect it, but that's too much trouble for my $20 umbrella.

Comments about Photoflex Photoflex Shoe Mount Multiclamp with Umbrella Holder for Mounting Small Flashes to Light Stands.:

The adjustment handle is spring loaded for adjusting and holding handle in place. This model had a plastic cap holding handle on and it broke the first time used. I had to find a screw and washer to hold spring in place which in turn holds the handle on.I have two no names of the same product that have a big metal screw instead of the plastic and never a problem. This is still a good product all in all.

Comments about Photoflex Photoflex Shoe Mount Multiclamp with Umbrella Holder for Mounting Small Flashes to Light Stands.:

Frankly, I expected these to be broken by now. They certainly seem plasticky and cheap, but I...Just...Can't...Break...Them. That means they are light AND solid. That's nice.

Maybe I am being careful with them, but they keep working and working and working. Got my money's worth, so far.

NOTE!!! Keep in mind, if you slap a Canon 580 EXII flash on top and turn it on, it'll just start firing...and firing...and firing, and...well, it didn't explode, though I thought it might. DON'T mount a flash on it out of the box (there is a Strobist post about this phenomenon).

That little aluminum shoe mount-thingie is conductive, see. Put a little strip of packing tape on the top face of the shoe, just where the flash contacts land (I cannot imagine any Canon, Nikon, 4/5ths, Sigma, TTL compatible, or other flash with protruding contacts would fare any better without it), and it is clear sailing. More, the set screw doesn't hurt my flash shoe, and the flash locking lugs don't get flattened either.

The swivel Locks tight on 45 and 60" heavy brollys. The umbrella set screws are...um..."sensitive" enough to not smash the ferrule. I have an old no-name swivel that crushed plenty of tubes in it's day. I suspect they all do this. Maybe I am just careful.

And they are light in my kit - not that I have a massive kit, but, hey - that matters, right? I hauled this thing (and everything else I have) from Charlotte to California to Greenville to Rochester to Edmonton and back - it matters after a while. Lightweight can be good!

This means 5 stars, minus 1/2 star for that stupid aluminum shoe mount, but I can't give 4-1/2.

BTW, I am expanding my kit, and I will buy 2 more soon. Cheap as they seem I wanted to hate these, but can't.

Before I purchased this item, I was unsure that it would work with my Speedlight flash unit. The description was unclear. For the record IT DOES WORK WITH STANDARD SPEEDLIGHT FLASH UNITS. Definitely fulfills its purpose.

This is an excellent low budget all in clamp, can be used w/ any light stand, super clamp, or even bungee corded to a pole to let adjust your speed light and umbrella easily.

Although not noted, the flash show mount does come w/ a tiny fastening screw so your flash wont fall out, it is not the most device so if your paranoid and your speedlight coming, just mask or gaffer the speedlight down, remembering to tape the base of the shoe so you wont short out the hot shoe connections on your speed light.

Comments about Photoflex Photoflex Shoe Mount Multiclamp with Umbrella Holder for Mounting Small Flashes to Light Stands.:

This umbrella holder allows you to use your speedlight with umbrella. It attaches to the light stand quite well and holds the flash. The flash shoe is a little bit cheesy, but it is removeable and you can use another one (e.g. slave) instead of it. The build quality is quite good with the main problem being the umbrella holding part: the screw goes into plastic, so it feels (and it really is) unsecure. If you try to really tighten it - you will corrupt it. All other screws are going into metall and fix everything quite well.
