I purchased this because I wanted to use my flash heads off camera. The mistake I made was in not noticing that this will not hold my umbrella.
Having said that, this unit is great for holding JUST the flash head. You can set it up in just about any angle.
I only give this item a 4 because one of my shoes fits too snugly on the holder. I have to force it on...
So, if all you want to hold is the flash head, this product is for you. If you want to add the umbrella, you need to look for a different model.

The unit is not well made, the hot shoe adaptor having a very tight fit with my Nikon Speedlight. That said, the unit does, with overdue effort, finally mount a Speedlight to a standard stud atop a lightstand.
