Comments about Westcott Westcott Photo Basics 40" 5-in-1 Collapsible Reflector Kit with Case, Reflector Holder Arm & Stand:
Great value on these kits. I now have two of them and love them. They may not be built like tanks, but the construction is good and solid. They have lots of great uses. I have even found myself setting the scrim diffusion in front of basic flood lights and get a great white box style result. One of the best purchases I've ever made. I use them constantly while filming indoors and out. The only downside so far is that the zippers are a little difficult.

I think this is a great reflector kit. I love that it comes w/ a stand and an arm. balance can be a little tricky, but otherwise easy setup instructions. only complaint, no good instructions or any instructions for that matter on how to fold the reflector back to put into pouch. had to look up on the internet to figure out how to do.

Nice setup. Quick, durable, reflector with stand that's like having a third hand. Allows easier application of available light photography. Priced right for any level of photographer.

Good for general use indoors, however it must weighted down and secured outdoors, which is true for all reflectors of this size I suppose.

Performs its duties. The slip cover removes completely so you can use four backgrounds dismounted from the ring. The zipper on the slip cover has very small teeth so you can either be gentle to protect them or take your chances. The reflector mounts quite easily once you figure it out, but the instructions weren't of much help. I can fold the reflector quite easily, but I suspect a few people may be challenged by it.

This Reflector and Stand is a good value for the cost. I purchased this item because I needed a reflector and stand while shooting formal photos at a wedding. It did its job very well, fortunately the wedding was moved inside. The only negative I have is that the stand is too light weight and it will tip over very easily with the reflector mounted. I solved the issue by using one of my cameral bags as a weight. The issue might have been worse outside, with a wind. Bottom line is, it did the job I wanted it for, and did it well.

Comments about Westcott Westcott Photo Basics 40" 5-in-1 Collapsible Reflector Kit with Case, Reflector Holder Arm & Stand:
Shooting with speed lights can produce harsh lighting that is unpleasant in photographs, especially portraits. Many of us that adopt a "Strobist" approach want to get the flash off camera AND get the best quality of light possible. I have provided some lighting schemes where I used my 42 inch collapsible reflector/diffuser as a diffuser for my SB800 fired using my Nikon D300 and the Nikon CLS system.
In the image to the above, you can see how the light stand mounted flash is about 12 inches from the diffuser and provides a large and relatively pleasing light source. The time of day is about 30 min before sunset do its getting pretty dark. If memory serves me correctly, the flash is set to full power.
In the shot shown above, I employed the services of a couple of voice-activated light stands to speed up the process. I needed to add a second SB-800 at camera left to provide some fill. It was rapidly getting very dark outside.
Initial setup, reflector on camera right

I received this product in a timely fashion and it was as described. The product works very well. The only exception I have run into is that it needs a sandbag or weight to hold it more securely when the diffuser is at an angle.

Comments about Westcott Westcott Photo Basics 40" 5-in-1 Collapsible Reflector Kit with Case, Reflector Holder Arm & Stand:
A mixed quality product...
On one hand, the stand and the reflector arm quality is decent. Less plastic and more metal would be better and the double ball joint isn't as nice as a real pro grip, but you get what you pay for. Nice, decent product there.
On the other hand, the quality of the reflector itself is rather low: the zippers always get caught in the material and the metallic surfaces are very wrinkled. The color is good and the size is great for the price, but that doesn't make up for the bad material used around the zippers.
I've used better reflectors in my career, including Lastolite, which are the best. There are many better picks out there, but they'll be tougher on your wallet.
This reflector kit is an average buy, but it is also quite affordable. You get what you pay for...
