Comments about Westcott Westcott 28 inch Apollo Flash Kit #2331 with 8' Light Stand:

I was looking for a softbox to use with my Nikon Speedlights and this little gem has completely fit the bill. It is built on an umbrella frame so set up takes literally a minute. To gain access to your speedlight requires the user to open the velcro flap in the front. But it is very easy to open and close. Since I use my speedlights with a Nikon D300 and an SU-800, I don't have to touch them to change their settings. I absolutely love this softbox and will probably buy a second one.

Comments about Westcott Westcott 28 inch Apollo Flash Kit #2331 with 8' Light Stand:

For [$] you end up with a highly portable and efficient piece of equipment. the only real negative mark i can comment on is the light stand is a bit, well...light. it is light weight and a little flimsy. i wouldnt put much more weight on the stand than what it is designed for (the softbox and speedlite).I do not have wireless e-ttl so changing the settings on the flash is a bit of a hassle because you have to pull back the diffusor screen each time (unless you use a long ettl connecting cord). these are the only two reasons i didnt give it 5 stars.Other than these two issues i wouldnt have a problem recommending the equipment. if it really bothered you, you could purchase a seperate light stand in the future, though this would contradict the savings you get when buying the package deal.Oh well. all in all a solid performing product.

Comments about Westcott Westcott 28 inch Apollo Flash Kit #2331 with 8' Light Stand:

I use this softbox with a nikon speedlight (SB900 or SB600) for portraits. I was immediately impressed at how easy it was to set up. The sofbox is built on an umbrella frame and set up is almost as easy as that. Once open, you simply need to attach it to the stand via the umbrella hole and then close the front panel with the attached velcro. I had the stand and softbox set up in literally 2 or 3 minutes. Access to your flash is as easy as opening the front panel. Even better then the easy set up is how good the pictures look. This 28 inch softbox is large and place a beautiful key light in the subjects eyes. the light is soft and consistant. The photos attached here were made with a three light set up. The softbox is camera left just outside the frame (the closer, the softer the light). A second light was set up camera right using a speedlight and umbella at half power, and the last light was camera right and behind the subject. I used a Nikon D300 with a Nikkor 35 mm f/1.8 set at f/4. Only processing was white balance and cropping.
