Comments about Bogen Imaging Bogen-Manfrotto Professional Monopod, Black Anodized, #3218:

I needed a good monopod after purchasing a 200MM Canon lens for those times when the light is dimmer and I do not want to use high ISO's and wide open apertures for better DOF. This is a strong Monopod, it extends quickly and the camera attaches easily and securely with the 234RC Monopod head.

I needed a monopod to help steady about 12 pounds worth of Nikon D-700 plus a 400mm f-2.8 lens and Wimberley gimbal head. This one is plenty sturdy, the toggle leg releases are lightening quick and solid. Works well.

Comments about Bogen Imaging Bogen-Manfrotto Professional Monopod, Black Anodized, #3218:

I needed a sturdy stick and since my tripod is a Manfrotto, I went with this one.
Reasonably priced and for now will use my tripod's head on this monopod.
May not be suitable for carry on luggage (most airlines have restrictions of 22-24") unless it can be placed diagonally in the bag. The collapsed length without a head is 26".
One of my concerns was that I am 6' 2". This monopod and my 804RC2 Manfrotto head puts the viewfinder at my eye (no problem) when standing straight, although I have encountered a situation where I wished it would go a little lower than the closed length.

Comments about Bogen Imaging Bogen-Manfrotto Professional Monopod, Black Anodized, #3218:

I have a disability and have trouble carrying things. I had ordered this with the expection that it would be comaratively light. It wasn't. It seemed to be almost as heavy as my normal Bogen-Manfrotto tripod. I returned it to Adorama and found another monopod that was much lighter-- and just as sturdy--at half the expense of this unit. About the only favorable thing I can add is that the weight allowed for a very sturdy construction...definitely for prfofessional, not personal, use.

Comments about Bogen Imaging Bogen-Manfrotto Professional Monopod, Black Anodized, #3218:

Primarily, I use this when I need mobility in low light conditions with a telephoto lens. Not that I'm a monopod afficionado, but this one is an excellent choice for me at least. I'm 6 ft. tall and it extends higher than I need it to - which comes in handy on uneven terrain or shooting downhill or on stairs, for example.

The quick release levers do exactly what they're supposed to - release and lock quickly and positively, which is key for fast positioning to get the shot I need. There's no wobble at full extension - very solid feel.

I only wish it folded down a little shorter for travel, but that would mean adding sections to maintain the same extension, which would add weight and cost precious seconds in setup time. When you're moving around trying to catch a great angle for a guitar solo with stage lighting, the last thing you want to be doing is fiddling with your gear.

In all, a solid and well-made piece of gear. But look who made it - what else would you expect?

Comments about Bogen Imaging Bogen-Manfrotto Professional Monopod, Black Anodized, #3218:

This is a well built monopod. It has good leg locks, the flip ones I prefer rather than the twist lock I hate. I used it to try out my 70-300vr lens and even with that heavy lens it worked great. I could never hand hold a lens at 300 but the monopod can! The only reason I can't give it five stars is the attachment screw for the head, it has both 1/4x20 and 3/8 in the same screw. I would have preferred a 3/8 inch with a reducing bushing for those that need a 1/4 inch connection.

This is an excellent monopod. I have been using it all over the place. It is a tad bit heavy for the size, but it is sturdy and can hold a lot of weight. My only complaint would be the very cheap hand strap, I wish they had included something that won't chaff your wrist.
