Hey, I really love this quick release plate! Just fit the plate into the slot , and it attaches automatically. Also, it cannot be released inadvertently; the trigger must be activated first. This assures your expensive camera will not accidentally fall off the tripod. The slotted attachment screw also has a handy finger grip that recesses under the plate so you can attach even if you have no change to screw it on with. Highly recommended!

QR Plate has poor grip on Camera base when positioned sideways on tripod. Gitzo could have built the plate with a lip to 'grab' the camera base to prevent it from tilting forward with a heavy lens.
