I've been quite happy with this 3 way pan head. It pans smooth and stays tight when needed. I use this with my GF1 when I want to shoot video as well as photos.

I've been extremely satisfied with Vanguard products. I own a Vanguard tripod and ball head as well and each one is made of quality materials. Very good value without paying the higher prices of other brands.

(I'm not giving 5 stars because I don't know what a top of the line pan head would feel like, that being said, I'm extremely satisfied with this item.)

I purchased this head with an Alta Pro 263AT for use in panoramic and tilt-shift shots. It is smooth and locks up rock solid with minimal pressure. The construction, fit, and finish are immaculate.
